The Destiny City Reservoir opened about a year ago and is an easy escape from the big city. It’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it’s been back in the news recently for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they’ve spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It’s hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Are you the type to investigate this or is it enough to dampen your waterfront plans? While you may not ever actually interact with the supposed cryptid, you can spot a strange creature in the distance. And, who knows what youma are crawling in the area, anyway?

Ryan loved all things cryptid. So of course, the moment the videos and rumors started popping up about Destiny City essentially having their own Loch Ness Monster, just... inside a reservoir instead of a loch, he made the decision to make time for a special trip out. It wasn't very far, but camping out to catch a glimpse of these kinds of things took time that he had to carve out of his busy streaming schedule. He had to make sure he was able to stay out for several hours with his camera, which meant he also had to find time to ensure he had food and water to sustain himself for several hours. Sure, the camera could run without an operator, but it wouldn't upload what happened to the internet by itself. At least, not without loads of expensive technology Ryan wasn't willing to buy just for this. He was pretty sure he wouldn't die at the dam. Now, if he were out hunting demons like his favorite youtubers did, that would be a whole different story. Not that he would, because risk of death and/or permanent scars (both mental and physical) was just not worth the possible reward, there.

He made the walk out since it was a pretty nice day and he didn't need to waste any gas. He only had his picnic basket and camera to carry, so it wasn't like he needed a big transportation device to haul things around, either. As he passed through the festival area to get by, he obtained another star charm. Awesome. Just one more color to go.

The squeaking sand made him grimace at the sound and he flipped the volume up on his headphones until he found a relatively quiet spot to settle down in. He spread his blanket out, plopped his basket down and took everything from it, and then balance his camera very carefully on its tripod on top of the basket. He stopped his music and flipped the camera on and began recording.

Satisfied with his setup, he got comfortable on his blanket with a little wriggling and settled in to watch, occasionally checking his Twitter account and replying to fans. He may have enjoyed all things cryptid, but God, the waiting. The endless waiting. So much of cryptid hunting was just endless waiting. Blowing his hair out of his eyes, he squinted at the water, straining his eyes and hoping to catch a glimpse soon.

Not seeing anything for now, he sighed and finally started eating his lunch. At least that was something he could do while he waited.

Naturally, something showed up out of the corner of his eye as he took a bite, and he inhaled sharply, followed by a lot of coughing and slamming his fist into his chest to dislodge his stupid piece of sandwich he'd stupidly inhaled. He spat it out and took in a deep, ragged breath, turning to look more directly at what he thought he'd seen.

Damn. Gone. He prayed his camera had caught something and he stopped recording, taking down his meager setup and packing it all back away for the walk home.

Once on his computer, he reviewed the video and cursed again. The thing was only just barely in view. But it was there. There was something strange in the waters. He knew his video would get called doctored by the internet, blah blah blah, nobody wanted to believe in anything otherworldly, but Ryan was pretty certain he knew better. And for him, this video was proof enough.
