Her nose wrinkled as her mother continued to prattle on with one of the reporters. Lydia stood beside her current husband, proclaiming how much good their companies have been able to do and were continuing to work towards to assist in community restorations across the city. Felicity kept herself beside her date, Jaidev. Of course, not being Nagyagite at the moment meant not looking the part, either, for which she was grateful for the fact half-youma had the power of glamour.

Though, really, she was getting more and more curious to see how her dear mother would respond to the cobra agent in his real glory...

She shooed the petty thought away as she pushed a pretty smile onto her face, batting innocent lashes to the cameras as their group finally began to move along and head in to where the auctions would be held, followed by the Ball.

Which was the whole reason Felicity and Lydia had spent the day together. The day began with spa treatments, full body workovers to polish and preen them, get them spick and span for the incoming evening. Both women knew it such occasions were among the few that brought them together peacefully, and even that was tenuous at best. Especially when Felicity refused to back down on whom she was bringing as her plus one.

"He was a celeb overseas before he came here, he's hot, I don't see what the problem is," the youngest Feardorcha shot back at one point, to which Lydia began to scoff. Of course, Lydia had her own pre-approved list in her mind, candidates that were suitable for herself or her daughter to mingle with that she considered to be of equal status. Or, more importantly, capable of gaining them additional personal wealth or status.

The gossip columns loved to discuss the rate by which her mother went through husbands, but Felicity knew the truth--the method to the woman's madness was all in the man's ability to supply her with the means to further her own goals and asperations. The various little half-siblings Felicity had? They were tickets for child support, and already the older ones were beginning to understand that. As Lydia's first, she knew the game, and its intricate steps. The moment she'd turned eighteen, a shift had occurred, as Felicity's father no longer had to pay the necessary child support, and his payments towards her education went straight to the institution, rather than through Lydia.

No longer a golden egg to her mother, their relationship rotted. Yet, here they were.

The curvy blonde leaned into Jaidev's side, pleased as could be for how the cameras seemed to enjoy catching a good eyeful of the man as she did. Some reporters got in for quick interviews, and made sure to ask his name, what he did... Felicity had no problem standing there, pretty and silent, and even went as far a few times to redirect any conversation towards her back onto her date. Partially, sure, to see how he'd respond, but she found she liked knowing the person she was linked with was getting a fair amount of attention.

It certainly didn't hurt her ego to note how some acquaintances' and friends' eyes followed him in approving appraisals, and oh did she preen for it. Lydia noticed, as well--she must have, for even though Felicity never caught the woman's crystal blue eyes on them, she knew her mother's calculations required her to possess all necessary data. Especially how someone faired in the court of popular opinion among their elite peers.

Not that they were just among them for the time being, for the auctions were a community event. Plenty of plain clothes Joes and Janes were around and about, there for the charity rather than the ball after. Lydia had objected about the whole thing during their time after the spa, when they'd gone to get their hair done. But for Felicity, it was sort of fun, mixing formal with informal.

Besides, it seemed more interesting to her than whatever odds and ends companies threw together to auction off.

One arm still linked with Jai's, she snatched a pair of champagne glasses from a passing server, not even pausing her steps as she did so. Required, if she wanted to avoid the fact she wasn't yet legal. Few more months...

"Here you go-- oh, weird," she hummed, lifting her glass a little after she handed Jai his, noting the little star charm that hung from a gold string on the stem. A pretty little yellow, she smiled as she managed to untie the cord and tuck the charm into her clutch. "Cute little memento, aw~ I love when parties do stuff like that." Let the festivities begin in style, after all.
