After spending hours at the forge Dovian was exhausted and his arms were sore, not to mention he was a sweaty, sooty mess. Soot was streaked across one cheek and his forehead, as well as his bare arms and chest, but it was typical for him to be in such a state after work. Despite the dirt and mess his clothing was of good quality and clearly stitched together by a skilled professional. Taking a deep breath in he slipped the chain necklace he was working on into the pouch at his side then made sure all of his tools were cleaned up.
A quick goodbye to his mentor and he was out the door in minutes. The cool evening air greeted him and it was a refreshing change from the stifling heat of the fires. Dovian closed his eyes for a second to enjoy it but made sure they were open again when he headed through town so that he could go home. Luckily he had the day off tomorrow so he planned to sleep in.
As he walked he shifted his torso to the side, stretching the muscles there as he felt a bit sore. Even his arms moved up and in small circles to work out his shoulders and the small tension there.

While her trips to the country of her birth were far and few between Adenah tried to make the most of it. She was only allowed to come when her mother had no idea she was gone, which made the adventure all the more tantalizing. How long could she be gone before Dris'rynne eventually caught up to her? Would her mother even chase after her now that she was grown? Who knew!
Unfortunately travel came at a cost, one that Adenah had trouble paying from time to time. She owed a little debt to the inn keeper, and instead of contemplating sleeping in the streets she set out on a night's work. Just a little job, something to tide her over until tomorrow, but if she got lucky she wouldn't exactly mind.
The search was languid and loose, just a passing glance really while she walked the streets. For all anyone knew she was just some passerby getting back to their caravan, but Adenah was on the prowl. And when she spotted her prey she smiled. He looked like another other smith, if you didn't take his obvious hybridity into account, but there was something more there. His clothes weren't tattered, he had adornments in his dreads, and something about him just said 'me! pick me!'. It was really too good to pass up.
Taking off her bracelet, Adenah flicked it behind a few barrels she passed, and continued on. After a bit she furrowed her brow, then raised her wrist as if she were just noticing it was missing. Eyes widening she looked around murmuring 'oh no, oh no' under her breath. The people behind her were having to go around, and one woman outright knocked her hip first into Dovian. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hit you! I was just looking for my bracelet and I got pushed over."

Dovian didn't seem to much pay attention to those around him so long as he could avoid running into them. Of course he saw the woman raise her wrist and start to look around. His thought was she must have dropped something. To avoid stepping on whatever it was he made a point of moving to the side so that he could avoid her. As he went to walk past it seemed fate decided that he would need to bump into her. Or the other way around actually. Someone else had been passing by on the other side and knocked the woman into him. Instinctively Dovian brought his hands up to hold the woman by the shoulders to make sure she didn't fall over. When he was sure she was balanced and not going to fall over he took his hands away, a soft frown on his face as his eyebrows drew close together. "It's alright. Are you hurt or anything?" Being that he had a mother and sisters he couldn't ignore if the lady was injured due to someone else's negligence. His eyes lifted so that he could look after the woman that had knocked this one over. Dovian frowned a bit more then shook his head as he brought his attention back to Ade. "Looks like you won't be getting an apology from them either." A small sigh escaped him as he gave another small shake of his head. "I'm sorry they were rude."

Adenah smiled sheepishly, and reached up to brush some hair away from her flushed cheeks. Even if it was barely visible, the touch of color would help give credence to the 'sweet little wisp' routine. Still, she had to admit, feeling his warm calloused hands on her shoulders was a nice touch. "N-no, I'm fine. Thank you, though."
She turned to watch the stranger hustle away, and sighed. "You're probably right. It must show that I'm not from around here; it's so hard trying to get through these streets without being run over." The hybrid laughed a little and turned her bright gaze back to him.
"At least someone in this city cares." Adenah 'nervously' crossed her hands over each other, then just as quickly widened her eyes with a little 'o' of surprise. "Oh, right, my bracelet! You didn't happen to see it, did you? It's thick and solid gold, like a cuff, so it might have rolled somewhere. My sister gave it to me and I just have to find it."

So she wasn't from the area, that was interesting. She'd seemed so confident before she'd lost her bracelet. Or was that just how she held herself? Dovian wasn't sure and as he was assured the young woman was fine he nodded his head. The young man obviously assumed that would be the end of it and went to move away from her but she made a surprised face and mentioned what she'd lost and asked him if he'd seen it. Quickly he dropped his gaze to the ground and searched around as feet shuffled by. A second of looking for anything that shined on the ground and he shook his head. Dovian wasn't at the right angle to notice the bracelet where it had been pitched. "No, I'm sorry I don't see it." He felt a bit bad since the bracelet meant so much. If he'd lost something given to him by either of his sisters then he would feel awful. Especially as both of his sisters would likely beat him up for it. A soft sigh was given as he looked at the young woman again. One of his hands moved to be at her lower back, but it hovered just above touching her, the other motioned for her to step to the side rather than standing in the middle of the street. "Lets move out of the way first then we can have a better view and won't be bumped into again." Dovi was more concerned with someone else running into them especially as they were standing in the middle of the road and blocking the way.

If she wasn't so sure as to where the stupid thing actually was Adenah may have lost track of the bracelet herself in this crowd. Unless he was looking underneath the stalls he wouldn't find anything; which was exactly how she wanted it.
"Thanks for trying." She tried not to look utterly dejected, but Adenah acted as if she were still worried over it. It wasn't a complete act; if she couldn't find it after this 'rouse' then her sister really would kill her. Adenah took his lead and moved out of the street, crimson eyes scanning 'every' little alcove whenever it wasn't completely blocked by passing feet. In all reality she was making sure she stayed close to him, and his little treasure. So far so good.
"You really don't have to stay," She gave him a sheepish look. "You probably have other places to go, and I'm only holding you back. I'll be fine; I just have to wait for the crowd to pass, right?" Adenah knew damn well this crowd wouldn't let up for a long while. "Shouldn't be too long."

Once they were out of the way he looked around again. The crowd was still pretty thick and he knew from experience that it wouldn't let up for a bit. So when the girl told him all she had to do was wait he gave a small nod and an internal cringe. She could very well be here for hours waiting and searching. Dovian didn't have to be anywhere so it wasn't that big of a deal to him. Giving Adenah his attention again he offered her a smile, which made him look more innocent and shy than anything else. "It's alright. I don't have to be anywhere. I will stay and help until you find your bracelet, alright?" It would also make his conscience feel better that he didn't just leave a defenseless female out on the street by herself. Not to mention his own sister would likely smack him upside the head if she found out he'd just walked away. "With all the people it might have gotten kicked off to the side or down the way a little bit." So that meant they couldn't narrow their search to just one little area. Dovian turned his green eyes to the ground again and didn't see the tell tale sign of something shiny so he moved his gaze to the side.

She practically beamed with joy. How great was this! He was such a sweet, sweet man and so utterly easy to trick. Oh man, could he have made this any easier? "Really? That's so nice of you...You know, I don't think I caught your name. Mine's Uula; it's pretty weird, I know-" Once again the hybrid played the role of the sheepish girl, ducking her eyes away for a minute with a flush on her skin. "-but it was my grandmother's name so, what can I do about it?"
Thinking on it, she nodded and swept her eyes over the ground. "I didn't really think about that before, but it's possible. It's solid gold, so I'm sure it could have gotten pretty far away if someone kicked it at just the right time." Oh yes, please, do bent over and look for it. Please make that little pouch of yours all the easier to knick.

"Heh, yeah. My mother and sisters would beat me if they thought I left a lady without helping out." Not that he was too put off with being helpful but it was mostly the threat of physical harm that had him being so helpful most times. "Oh, Uula isn't that weird. I'm Dovian." He offered a slight smile to go along with his name then turned his head away from her to start looking for the bracelet again. He bent at the waist and put his hands on his knees before he leaned down more to look under stalls. So far nothing stood out as sparkling, dull or otherwise. He tried to look carefully through the legs of those that passed by so that he wouldn't miss it if it were there. "I don't see it so far. Would be better if we knew which direction it went."

"Sisters, huh? It's no wonder you're such a gentleman, Dovian." It really was a shame; he looked so handsome when he smiled and after today she wouldn't be able to see it again. Theft wasn't Adenah's strong suit, no matter how much practice she had at it, and she wasn't fool enough to try taking from the same mark twice.
Bent over like that the little pouch on his hip was well within reach. Adenah casually flicked a ring on her finger, popping a little curved blade out along the metal. As she leaned in closer to look under the stall her hand grazed over the pouch just enough to cut at the straps holding it. Within the amount of time it took most to smile she'd scooped up the little pouch and pouched across the street. "Oh, look, look! Over there! I think I see it, under that stall!"

This was where having a thief for a dad and sister came in handy. He'd worked enough with his baby sister to know when the weight on his person changed, even a slight bit. As Adenah got close and leaned with him he moved his gaze toward her and considered for a second. Her lost bracelet must have been a ruse. Not wanting her to get away with whatever she'd taken he moved his hand to grab hold of her wrist. Even with calloused hands his grip was gentle and barely touched her skin though it was enough to keep her from yanking free if she tried. "Excuse me, miss Uula." His other hand came forward so that he could hold it out and wait. "I don't think your bracelet was on my person. Please return what you took." His leafy green gaze went over her again. She didn't look like she was in dire need of coin but he could be wrong. So he gave a sigh. "If you need some coin you could have just asked."

Adenah made a little surprised 'oh!' and widened her gaze. Jigs up. Surprisingly he wasn't full on yelling at her in the street which was what confused her the most. At first she'd almost thought he hadn't caught her at all, with the gentle way he held her, until Dovian started talking and she just grinned. "You're good."
If he thought she would pull away or just give in he was sorely mistaken. In all honesty the game had just gotten interesting. Adenah's tongue poked out to run across her bottom lip as she were savoring the moment. "Sad thing is my bracelet really is under that stall. This, though-" With her free hand she kept up the little pouch. "-is coming with me and if you don't want to make a scene I suggest you leave it be."
As if to prove her point, or maybe to keep him from grabbing it, she stuffed it down her top. Adenah was thorough; she made sure it was buried beneath the generous swell of her left breast. "It's never been about coin, Dovian; that bits just a bonus." She smiled, this time as devilish as any predatory beast.

Being told he was 'good' didn't make him feel better. It was sad that he was attuned to such differences in weight. Dovian did give a mental thanks to his sister for using him as a practice mark though. He watched her reaction to being caught and when she put the pouch in her top he groaned. There was no way he was going in after that. He hung his head for a second and sighed before he shifted so that he could step closer to her, not letting go of her wrist just yet. Dovian still kept a respectable distance though. "Miss Uula, if that is your name.." He knew his sister used an alias on the streets so it was likely that this woman did as well. "If you don't mind I would like the trinkets returned. I am making them for my nieces or nephews." He didn't know which his sister was having so he was making something for both sexes. "You can keep the rest." He made it a point to avoid looking at her top where the items had been stashed. If anything it looked as though his dark face was flushing a bit.

"That's as good a story as any, but I have no way of validating it anymore than you do at knowing my real name." She made sure to keep her voice low considering they were still out on a public street. The fact that he was holding her wrist had drawn a few cursory looks from passing strangers, but now that he was getting closer they were kindly looking away.
Taking a step closer herself, Adenah made sure they were only a hair's breadth away from one another. "Drop the miss, Dough-vee-inn; I'm hardly a lady." He wasn't even looking at the pouch anymore which was just as amusing as the heist itself would have been.
"I'll tell you what; one hundred gold pieces and you can have it back. No fuss."

She had a point there. He could easily be lieing to her. And a liar would always be suspicious. That didn't help him any in this case. As he was trying to think she got closer. Too close in his opinion. Nope, he was having none of that. Dorian took a step back to keep the space between then respectable but he still didn't let her wrist go. He was afraid that if he did then she'd bolt. "Mi-.. Uula, getting so close to someone can be taken the entirely wrong way. I'd rather the people passing by don't get the wrong idea." It also seemed like this woman did what his younger sister did and distracted people with her assets. "If you'd like to meet my sister to verify that I'm telling the truth then I can likely do that. Or I can take you to the shop I work at. My mentor can vouch for me." Dovian was trying to think of a way to get his stuff back without having to go near her shirt. Or be robbed blind by the amount she listed.
