Quote: Destiny City is hosting an annual scavenger hunt during the Star Festival to encourage people to get out and explore their city. The prize for turning in a completed scavenger hunt is a coupon booklet and a few free tickets to upcoming city events. Even if you aren’t interested in the prize, the scavenger hunt is specifically designed to take you through the city to showcase a few historic buildings, some art installations, and some of the city’s greatest accomplishments. While many of the places are familiar, during your explorations you come across a building you’ve never seen before--something that feels out of time. You’ve been in the area countless times before, so how did you miss this place? When you lay eyes on the building, you feel a strange timelessness and have the distinct sensation of being a part of something bigger. Briefly, you may see flashes of some distant past--a flickering memory that you can’t quite place or fully form. It’s hard to make out, but at some point in time you have the distinct impression of a faded figure taking your hand and telling you to do something. They sound hopeful and encouraging, like they really believe in you. By the time you blink, the visions are gone, the building is gone. The only thing that remains is a beautiful little garden and a plaque so faded that you can’t make out the inscription. Safiya generally wasn't that interested in the star festival as a whole, other than the occasional bargain she was able to get from participating businesses holding sales. Even then, it was really more of something she just took a backseat to while her roommates participated as they wished. The scavenger hunt itself equally wasn't really her thing, but the coupon book being offered as a prize got her attention, as there were quite a few coupons she could use, being the broke high school student as she was. The only thing was, her roommates were busy attending other events, and Safiya, as independent as she was, wasn't really sure as to how worth it going on a tour of the city was, especially during the middle of Guild Wars in GBF. While it wasn't as if she was the one to carry her crew or anything, given that her grids kinda sucked, she was still in the middle of slowly recruiting her first eternal... and then there was that character weapon ticket... It was then that, in a weird twist of fate, Safiya crossed paths with one of her cousins, Cinta. The two didn't really interact much- which honestly, was per the course for much of the extended Mahsa family- but they were still on cordial enough terms to where maybe she could recruit the other girl's assistance. Maybe. Well, Cinta could have the rest of the prizes, including whatever coupons Safiya didn't need, anyway. That'd be a good enough deal, right?

Cinta, head slightly lost in the clouds, was armed with a small notepad and checklist in one hand, and a pen readied with her other hand. She was out during the star festival and was attempting to complete the scavenger hunt. While locating for things isn't her forte, she figured that even she could complete it as long she could methodically jot down her findings, movements, hints, and more. As to why she is participating? Well, she was compelled to gather her wits and finish the hunt for their prizes. Moreover, she was filled with some excitement over sightseeing, since after all, she seldom examined these notable public establishments until now. Within earshot, she heard furtive footsteps from someone nearby her. This snapped her out of her reverie. Cinta turned around, her apple-colored bright eyes meeting the eyes of someone familiar. "Oh! Safiya, is that you? What brings you out here?" Cinta asked curiously. As far as she knew, Safiya seldom partook in the revelry, usually hearing to Safiya's tune of 'I'm busy, don't bother me," or something... so it didn't take much thought for Cinta to assume that something unusual is up. Merurulince after eons, Cinta finally makes her RP debut... LOL

Safiya noticed the notepad, and wondered for a moment what that was all about, before remembering that was how Cinta tended to keep organized. Hmm. Well, this already was convenient enough, meeting like this, so she might as well make her sales pitch. "I'm doing the scavenger hunt," she said, maybe a little too bluntly, "Planning, anyway. You doing it, too?"

"Oh, Safiya! It's nice to see you," Cinta greeted, handwaving Safi's curtness. Cinta momentarily wondered why Safi engaged with Cinta without as much as a greeting, but it's no big deal. Perhaps she's just being shy? Maybe that's it. "Why yes, I am. Are you doing it, too?" Cinta asked.

"I am. Or, I was planning to," Safiya admitted with a shrug, not really caring to keep it as some big secret or anything. "The coupon book interests me." It wasn't a huge secret that Safiya lived with some friends of hers, instead of her own family (which was mostly just her grandmother anyway), and thus, she was largely on her own finances-wise, so any bargain she could come across was a blessing. "Do you want to... I unno, join up?"

“Oh, sure. It’ll be delightful working together with you, Safiya,” Cinta smiled. She didn’t know too much about her cousin Safiya apart from the particulars, but it didn’t change the fact that they’re related in some shape or form. Regardless, Cinta breathed a sigh of relief because deep down, while this scavenger hunt was of great interest to her, it also was proving her that doing this alone not only could prove difficult… it’d take up much time. She is normally a patient person and extremely so… but there was much in this festival that she wanted to do as well on top of this. On the plus side, having her cousin Safiya tag along could be a boon. Cinta knew that Safiya has quite the eye for things or at the very least, she knew that Safiya could find things of interest. She heard that it’s primarily for her thrift store escapades, which explains why Safiya is quite fashionable! Perhaps this sort of skill would be useful for this? At the very least, they could finish it faster, and they both would get what they want. Cinta almost wanted to ask why Safiya didn’t want anything else, but it didn’t really matter in the end. If anything, Cinta hopes that Safiya won’t feel too fussy or annoyed or bothered over Cinta wanting to go sightseeing around the city while they do the hunt. “Safiya… I heard that you have a good eye? I mean, have a good eye at finding things,” Cinta lodged her inquiry. “You see… I’m having some trouble finding some of these landmarks. I wonder if I’m just failing to see through the forest of trees.. or something…” Merurulince ...sorry for the huge text dump on Cinta's mind meandering LOL. I have my reasons!

Safiya didn't know why, but she felt a small sense of pride at Cinta's compliment about her having a good eye for finding things. Admittedly, this mostly applied towards bargain hunting, but it was nice to be praised for something, which didn't happen often. It was, though, a little disappointing that it had to come from one of her cousins, though, rather than, say, one of the nuns at St. Mags... not that she really liked them to begin with. "I do," she said, "In a matter of speaking, anyway. So, what is it you're looking for first?" Somehow, this exchange went a lot easier than Safiya had thought it would be!

“Well, I’ve already went through a lot of these places listed here,” Cinta pointed at the crossed-out sections in her notepad. “Meanwhile, I have these places left...” She went through the trouble of laying out question marks for locations that she was unable to discern on her own. Perhaps her cousin Safiya would be up for the challenge? After all, two heads are better than one, or at least, an extra head apart from Cinta’s is automatically better as she’s painfully aware of her penchant to zone out and miss the very thing she was looking for. “Actually, how about we could start by heading up there? It’s nearby… and there’s an installation I haven’t gotten to yet for the scavenger’s hunt,” Cinta suggested. “It should be by the building over there… wait, building? Since when?” Now Cinta felt confused. While she hasn’t passed by the path yet, she was keenly aware of how the space was normally a vacant grassy lot without anything noteworthy. Yet… a mysterious building sits on the very lot.

Safiya glanced at Cinta's notepad, taking note of the...notes. So, Cinta had already knocked off quite a few landmarks already, making this easier, it would seem; Safi wasn't sure if this still counted, if she tagteamed with her cousin halfway through, but she was only after the coupons, after all, as she had already laid out. Cinta could have the other prizes, of course. "... Lead the way?" Safiya suggested, intending to have Cinta show them which way to go, but then her cousin was talking about some building, and she, too, ended up glancing in the direction that Cinny was looking. "Is there something the matter?" Safi asked, hazarding a guess that this building was something of an unusual sight to Cinta.

Cinta pointed at the building towards the distance again, which was occasionally flickering in and out f existence should one pay much attention to it carefully. It appears that most patrons weren’t terribly phased by this strange phenomena happening before them. “Um...well, do you see that building over there? It’s not supposed to be there... and yet...” Cinta clutched the notepad towards her chest and breathed, “Safiya, you know what? I think, regardless of how weird it is... we should go through it anyway. It’s in the way, and it’s just a building... so nothing bad should happen? Right?” It was clear that she was feeling the slightest bit nervous, but what could she do but look at her indisputably more braver cousin for some measure of reassurance. Whether she’d get much or not doesn’t really matter- she simply wanted to hear from someone else that she isn’t crazy for seeing something that shouldn’t be there at all. “Merurulince” sorry that it’s late!! also doubly sorry if this kinda doesn’t make much sense but tldr she’s like let’s go safi

"I... okay?" Safiya was confused at this spontaneous decision on Cinta's part, given she had just been expecting to help with locating the remaining landmarks on their list, but apparently whatever it was about this building was compelling enough to make her cousin want to check it out. It was an odd turn of events, compared to the usual being left to do all the work, with Cinta wanting to take lead instead. "If you want to go in, then we'll go in," she said with a shrug. Runelucia i think we can start wrapping this up soon?

“Yeah, let’s go in.. it won’t be long. At least, I hope so, anyway,” Cinta smiled a bit as she took the lead. “Uwaa… whaaat?! What’s going on? Did you see that, Safi?” Cinta gasped. She couldn’t believe her eyes, and she rubbed them twice. All of a sudden, she realized her surrounding was being overlaid with something familiar, not that she could readily understand what's going on. Either way, it felt familiar, as if all of this was from some distant feeling or memory she couldn’t quite recall in detail. Regardless, she'd have to move forward. Time won’t wait, after all, she couldn’t bear to leave Safi waiting for her. And so, Cinta continued along until a faint, faded figure appeared from out of the building. They extended an arm, and they beckoned her to come closer. It appeared that they were offering something, and she couldn’t help but feel that she ought to take it. There was a strong sense of familiarity, and an urge that convinced her that ‘ …this is fine, just take it. It’ll be okay…’

Although Safiya, for the most part, was seeing similar things to what Cinta was seeing, her cousin’s reactions were distracting and perhaps taking away from whatever effect they were supposed to be having on her. What was with this family, anyway? For some reason, it seemed to only be full of weirdos. “Hel-loooo~? Earth to Cintaaaaaa~” Safiya called out, trying to get her cousin’s attention before she ended up, idk, walking into an open manhole or something.

"Huh? Did you say something, Safi?" Cinta blinked and turned her head, her hand still outstretched. Why isn't Safiya reacting to the mystery around her? Cinta found it strange that Safiya could be so calm and collected.. and possibly aloof. A part of her couldn't help but admire Safiya for it, since she herself is prone to losing her cool here and there. Then, before she knew it (but more of not), the entire area vanished right before her eyes, leaving only a familiar empty lot and a plaque. "Ah.. w-what just.. happened?" Cinta stiffened, clearly shocked by the sudden disappearance of it all.

“Hey you, you’re finally awake,” Safiya started, and then shook her head and shrugged, “You were spacing out a bunch. Pay more attention next time, y’know? Could have walked into a sinkhole or something, and broke your neck.” Although personally Safiya had questions of her own, she cared not to divulge the details of what the two of them had just experienced or saw. Turning on her heel, she began to head the other direction. “C’mon, we still haven’t finished that scavenger hunt. You still haven’t found everything on the list, right? We need to get going.” And with that, she was off, leaving Cinta to catch up with her.
