The boats were hidden in the trees along the marshes, a secure location while they determined the best strategy for future ports. Zayana led the small group to the two ships, watching as her sister and Pyrrha took their own. She turned toward her mother, nodding with a meek smile before gesturing to their own. They'd need to row themselves, but with the Isle in the distance, it wouldn't be too difficult to get across.
The sun was covered by thin clouds, and while it did rain here more than most, it seemed they'd also have a rain-free trip. Both great signs for an easy trip.
"Shouldn't take too long to get to the other side, and they'll recognize us so..." she trailed off before they began, and she was left with mother/daughter time that had been avoided since she greeted them.
When she heard that Aishans were in the make-shift port as she wandered about, she never imagined it would be her family. So she wasn't prepared, though she did make sure to send a messenger to ensure Lumikani was.
She had a feeling that reunion would be unforgettable.
"So...welcome to Kahikina?" She finally said, her arms rowing as she looked at her mother, "What do you think, so far?"

“It’s different,” Zandala said slowly. They hadn’t really been far or explored and the unknown didn’t sit well with Zandala. She wanted, no needed, to know the location and all it’s ins and outs. She wouldn’t feel comfortable until she’d gone around the island more than a few times and knew it’s dangers. Still, she was happy to spend some time with Zayanna, even if she didn’t know how well it would go.
“You look good,” Older, definitely. Zandala felt like she’d missed part of her daughter's life. “Life here suits you.” She said slowly, looking around. Her daughters had always wanted to travel, but she’d never expected it to be like this. She expected her daughters would experience many more changes while they were here and a lot of other things Zandala didn’t want to speak about. It would be between Kanika and Zayanna, but there was anger and hurt there that was for sure.

Zayana continued to row, her muscles moving in effortless motions from constant practice. Before, they lived at the tree, so they never had to make the trip. Her mother insisted she train, used to the idea from Chibale. Zayana struggled, but eventually got the endurance to travel back and forth. Which worked out, considering her fascination with the fish people on the mainland.
"Oh...thank you..." she responded awkwardly, grimacing almost immediately at her lame response, "I...yeah...it's nice here."
She took a breath before containing, "Yael was nice...I mean it's home. But it felt so...constricting." Her arms continued to move.
"Here there's no...pressure. We don't need to hide because the island is so far away, and the locals here don't fear us or want to start fights. It's peaceful..."

Zandala wanted to grumble, the Elaria were always going on about being constricted. However the Alks had had a reason for it, they’d had to be difficult on their daughters. They’d had to keep them safe, they were precious. Maybe they had been too hard on them and this was the ultimate result of those choices. Regardless, They were here now. No need to dwell on the past.
“You talk about Yael like you’ll go back.” Which Zandala knew there was no way that was happening, Lumikani would probably not allow it, but the others back home wouldn’t be welcoming.
“I’d still be careful,” Because that’s how Zandala was raised. “We don’t know much about these people.” Personally, Zandala knew nothing, she would be cautious and reserve judgment when she was more settled and had a good night's rest.

Zayana paused at her mother's response, her lips pursed as she considered it, "Well, yeah. It's home. Eventually I won't be needed here and I can go back to Elzira." She replied honestly, "Even here, I'm not stuck on the island. So I don't see why I'm stuck in Kahikina."
She blinked, wondering why her mother implied that she wouldn't go back to Yael. That's where Zenris was. Where Elzira was. She was still an Elaria.
But she was distracted at her mother's comment, and laughed before leaning back and letting the boat coast for a few seconds.
"They are nothing like the Earthlings. You just need to give them a chance and you'll see. They are so peaceful and relaxed here...they don't even seem to understand the concept of war."

Zandala didn’t know how she felt about any of her daughters going back. But right now, it certainly was not a good feeling. Perhaps Zayana didn’t understand what had happened after she’d left, or how dangerous it had been for them to come here. She wondered if Kanika would talk about their journey here. Kanika had been changed by it, Zandala had noticed it the moment they’d landed on Earthling shores. In all honesty, she was glad Pyrrha had come with them. Kanika had leaned on her a lot. Zan felt she had failed on a lot of levels, but she’d kept them safe and that was what was important now.
“That’s because the Earthlings haven’t really been here yet.” They hadn’t been tainted by the wars and history of old, so of course they had no concept. How long would it last though? Zandala for one, wanted to make sure she was prepared if anything ever happened.
“One can never be too cautious,” the Alkidike murmured as she eyed their surroundings. Would she ever be able to relax? Probably not, or at least certainly not for a long time to come. “Is the village well established?”
