Quote: Strange things appear in Destiny City all the time, so nothing seems out of the ordinary about what might look like discarded trash, broken glass, or pieces of broken jewelry. If anyone were to lean in for a closer inspection, they might find a beautiful, gemstone like object that is shaped a bit like a star. They come in an array of colors and almost seem to have some sort of light sparkling in them. It had been a few weeks since the night Pendour had met the Captain, and she'd been out looking for someone to answer the questions that had raised ever since. Well, half-looking. Maybe it would be more accurate to say she was going out and hoping she'd stumble into the right person. Instead she'd had encounter after encounter with Negaverse agents, some more harrowing than others. She knew it was time to be more direct, and so she'd turned to her growing collection of mermaid stationary. She’d used it for a sketch or two, but she hadn’t penned a knight letter in months. Tonight she did. Quote: Hi, Camelot. Are you around? This is Pendour. It was a while ago that I met you. It’s okay if you don’t remember. I have a few more questions, about purification, mostly. It could have been longer, maybe, but she found herself wanting to talk. Well, maybe it would have been different if she’d had a phone like a senshi. Texting was a little easier than sending wordy letters on expensive paper. She found herself powering up and wandering towards the library while she waited for a reply. She walked slower and slower, careful not to rush things. That was when a bit of a glow caught her eye, half-hidden by the angle of the curb, and she reached down to pick up a small object.

Camelot was always ready to respond to a letter, a summons or otherwise, when one came to him. Anyone looking for him, really. He liked to be easy to find, for better or worse, which was why he always chose to start his patrols from the same spot. It meant that anyone could see him and find him. Even the negaverse, though he generally hoped they were coming to him for purification purposes and not for a fight. So it was easy for him to assume that, moments after he had powered up and prepared to reply to the note he received, the aura he felt flare to life down below the library was the source of the note. Maybe it was not the safest thing to do, as he could easily startle someone who just happened to be passing by, but he leaped off the roof of the building and landed lightly enough, for a tall man in armor, near the front entrance, at the bottom of the stairs. "Good evening!" He said, before noticing she was distracted. What was she looking at? His instincts said a youma, but he was a bit paranoid in his experience. And it would have had to be a very small one.

She was examining the-- the stone? Whatever it was, she was looking it over when she felt the aura, brighter than bright, beginning to shine only a few yards away from where she was standing. The next moment, she heard the clattering of armor as someone landed next to her. Her breath caught in her chest, but she recovered quickly as she looked over and saw who it was. "Camelot! Um, hi," she said. If he'd remembered a soft-eyed Page mumbling about terrorists, he'd be greeted with a sight that was a little different. Well, she was still soft in most ways, in her voice, especially, but she stood a little taller in her Neptune regalia, even as it had grown more complicated. She was a squire now. Then there was the most obvious thing, the wicked scars that cut across half her face. She started to turn that side away but didn't commit to it. He'd already seen. Had Camelot been one of the ones telling her not to hurt herself? She swallowed, and held out the maybe-stone instead, a little too quickly. "Have you seen this? It was outside of your library. It's glowing." It looked magical, but not in any way she understood.

Camelot, never one to draw attention to something that someone might not be ready to speak about, understood her timid expression as she turned her face slightly away from him. It did not need a lot more hints than that, really, and he smiled at her warmly as he held out his hand and offered to look at the strange little object she found. "I have not seen this before, though I've no idea what it might be. Maybe you should hold on to it for now. It could be good luck." The stars did tend to be on their side, but even that was not a guarantee in a city like this. Strange things happened almost constantly, and Camelot knew better than to take even the smallest oddity for granted. He would do a bit of research and see if anyone else had found something like that, but for now he had nothing to assume it was anything more than a pretty, glow in the dark gem from a quarter machine. Did they still have those? "I can't imagine this little stone is what brought you here this evening. What is it that I can help you with, Pendour? I am at your service, of course." He bowed his head gallantly, a gesture he often used when he was helping others. It might have been a little silly, and sometimes he did play it up, but if it helped put them at ease then he saw no harm in it. Talking to a Royal Knight had to be intimidating, until someone got used to him. Then they would figure out he was pretty much a big goof. He offered her the stone back and tilted his head at her curiously, eyes warm and serene as always. He was genuinely curious what she had needed to talk to him about enough to make writing a note necessary. He could not say he got a lot of those, even when others made the effort to find him. Either they came to his patrol route directly, or they knew him in his civ life and just texted him, incognito, there.

Pendour accepted the little star-stone back with a nod. It really was a mystery, then, if even Camelot didn't know what it was, but it didn't seem dangerous. It felt warm in her hand, even if that was just from their handing it, and she rolled it around with her fingers as she thought. Anything that might be lucky or that might be from another world would be a treasure for her. The bow got a smile. At first, she'd thought that maybe all knights acted like the ones in the old stories, but that seemed to just be the way that Camelot was. "No, it wasn't that," she said. "I've been going back out a little more, lately. I found a few Negaverse agents, and I was talking to them, and," she looked all the way back at him. Her eyes almost had some spark in them. "I found someone who wanted to purify." The smile went back to something softer. "Well, I found someone who was feeling trapped in the Negaverse. It sounded like they were being just awful as awful to him." She shook her head. It was one awful thing to be attacked by the Negaverse, but it would be almost worse to be part of their cruel system. "I told him what I could about leaving, but realized I didn't know very much other than that it was possible and that you would maybe part of that process?" If she was going to be offering purification to people, she really needed to know a little more.

Camelot listened with interest when she said she was speaking with Negaverse agents. It was always a good thing for him to hear, though he knew it came with inherent risks. Not all negas wanted to talk, after all, and some even used the effort as a way to get an advantage over unsuspecting White Moon soldiers just trying to do good. He would not put it past some of the more devious ones to try to worm their way in close to someone and hurt or kill them when it was easiest or most advantageous to them. Or maybe Camelot was just a worrier by nature. That came up a lot. His expression softened, though, as he continued to listen, worry ebbing just a bit. She looked like she was truly concerned about the well being of this Negaverse soldier, and he nodded his head. "I can purify anyone that is willing to leave Chaos and join the White Moon. Negaverse soldiers and the Dark Mirror. But they have to be willing. Of course, I will always offer whatever help I can, to help them start fresh in their new lives. Once someone purifies, they gain a new identity, to keep them safe from the Negaverse coming after them in their civilian states. But the process is simple. I use my energy as a Royal Knight to purify them with a crystal sword, though I only touch their shoulders with it. No damage, though it can be a straining process."

There was something kind as kind in Camelot's voice, and Pendour felt some of the tension she'd held carrying these questions start to relax away, even as something he mentioned caught her attention. "A new identity?" she asked, her brows knitting tight as she considered. "Is that like witness protection, where they can't go back to their old life at all?" She rubbed a thumb around and around on the tiny stone as she found herself thinking about her family and all the tiny, happy moments that were a part of this life. "That's a heavy price," she said. She wasn't even the one making the choice and she could feel the weight of it in her bones. "Do you think that's why so many of them stay?" There was a pause where she seemed to look straight past Camelot, into the shadows behind. "Well, that and whatever it is that the Chaos does to them?" Was there a way to make the price less steep while keeping people safe? That was the question that she would have to chew on, now.
