Tonight was the main event for the cities star festival. Tonight would be the night the stars fell, sort to speak, and Xi-Wang had asked Gabriel to come watch with him. He was still trying, without saying it, to apologize and make right by Gabriel for moving in with his ex. He wanted, and needed, to make Gabriel feel comfortable with things. He also wanted to invite the other to move in with them, he'd made sure the place was big enough for the three of them plus his sister to come visit. He couldn't think of it feeling like home with Gabriel living there. He just hoped when he asked, whenever he got the courage up, that Gabriel would agree.

He'd also invited a friend, a rather new friend. He had let Gabriel know first, as it was polite and proper to do....plus considering everything else he sort of had to. Kai was a new friend and was slowly becoming a good friend. He wanted to spend some time with his friend and introduce Kai to Gabriel, he hoped they would get along and become friends as well. Kai might not be a senshi, or involved in the war, but Xi-Wang thought having friends outside the war wasn't a bad idea...he just hoped secret keeping wouldn't be an issue, like it had been in a relationship. He still needed to eventually talk to Caleb about it, he just wasn't sure how yet.

"We should find Kai...he said he was already here in the crowd." Since they'd been running a bit late, cabs and public transport was slow heading t his way due to so many people coming here. They should have left earlier....he just hadn't thought about it .

Kai had of course been planning on going to the main event of the festival, never even crossing his mind to skip as he rather looked forward to seeing the meteor shower in all it's glory. However where he would be watching it changed when he was invited to spend the time with a new friend of his, Xi-Wang, and the other man's boyfriend. At first he had been a bit hesitant to intrude on Xi-Wang and his significant other's time but could easily admit he was curious to meet Gabriel and finally put a face to the name and stories.

Either way though Kai arrived earlier then they had planned on meeting to look around the area that the city had designated as one of the places to watch the meteor shower from safely. There were a few vendors here and there on the outskirts, including a few with these cute star charms that he couldn't help but buy, and plenty of places for groups and individuals to sit or stand to watch the show. After wandering for a bit Kai eventually claimed a spot with a good view of the sky and plenty of room for the trio to sit comfortably if they wanted without being in the way.

Then it was just a matter of waiting for the duo to show up to join him, though he did remember to shoot Xi a text to give rough instructions on how to find him. As much as he hated to admit it, and he never would out loud, he certainly wouldn't stand out enough to be found easily in the crowd. "Shouldn't be long now."

Gabriel chuckled just a bit at the mention of their new friend being on the smaller side. It's not like they were unnaturally tall or anything, but to think of having a whole foot on Kai was pretty amusing. The chances of spotting him did run down quite a bit though. He could see over a few heads, but not well enough to spot someone he didn't know, let alone someone at that height in this crowd.

His laugh only got worse when Xi compared him to a teddy bear. To be fair, Xi had some big teddy bears. "The first thing I'm saying to him is that you think of him as a cute teddy bear." He was just teasing, obviously. No way would he embarrass either of them that way. He was very curious about Kai now though, Xi had nothing but adorable things to say about him.

Nudging at Gabriel who was laughing at him, and his joke about Kai being a cute teddy bear, he couldn't help smiling brightly at the other. "He is though - you'll see when you meet him." Really it was mostly because of Kai's size but his personality helped a bit, Kai really was tiny though! Not that he, or Gabriel, were tall as there were other people walking about who were of a similar height to them both.

"You can tell him what I said if you want." He honestly didn't mind, he was even sort of curious what Kai might say or do about it.

What he didn't expect, but was happy to hear, was someone calling his name. As Gabriel and himself had been walking he managed to hear another voice - Kai's. It had to be Kai as there was no one else who should be calling him. He was sure he heard mention of a spot as well. "I think that's him." Pointing in the general direction, tugging at Gabriel's sleeve. "Let's go." Holding onto the others sleeve as he glanced about - hoping to spot Kai now that he'd heard him.

Kai grinned when the two men changed directions and headed his way, glad he had indeed managed to get their attention as well as the fact that he had been right about who they were. When they got close enough that they wouldn't have to yell to be heard he opened his mouth to give an actual greeting but was beaten to it by Gabriel speaking up. When the words registered his face lit up a bright pink for a moment before he shook his head and gave a confident smirk. "Why yes that is me, nice to finally meet you as well Gabriel" He said with a flirty wink.

He then turned a flirty look to Xi-Wang and another little smirk on his lips he added on. "And Xi, if you wanted to cuddle you just had to ask instead of giving me a nickname, not that I mind." He kept his voice flirty but playful until he finished his piece then gave a more relaxed friendly smile as he lifted up the bamboo box he had. "Either way hopefully this spot is good enough for us though if not we can try and find another, oh and I brought us some snacks to munch while watching."

"I do." Gabriel barely managed to whisper back before the conversation continued. The flirty wink that followed Kai's greeting did not go unnoticed. He was certainly turning out to be an interesting character. Certainly not the shy type at well.

He took a seat next to Xi and chuckled a bit as his boyfriend smelled the food and knew instantly what it was. "Dumplings? Seriously, you can't even see them. You're crazy for those things." He enjoyed a good dumpling as well, but not quite to the same extent that Xi-Wang seemed to.

"You certainly know how to endear yourself to us, Kai." Food was always the quickest way into a man's heart. They were a really great snack for picnicking as well. "So, how did you two meet?" He was very curious about this new friend.

"Not crazy, I just enjoy good dumplings." And he was sure these would be good. He could smell the dough, so he had some ideas, and Kai knew he liked dumplings. So he'd made a good guess at what the other had brought for them, it was nice to know it was true though. Dumplings were delicious and easy to eat, which was good considering they were outside having something of a picnic.

"I think in my case that holds true somewhat." A way to his heart. Was Kai trying to flirt with them? It certainly seemed a bit like that, not that he minded, he was rather flattered by the idea of someone flirting with him and Gabriel. It was new and unexpected, but not unwelcome.

"I was getting soy sauce and other things. Some girls were in the same isle as me and grabbed the wrong thing, the wrong soy for dumplings in fact, and Kai saw me looking over things and taught I'd make some mistake...I think. I just didn't know which brand to get since my usual was out of stock. He offered some options he thought were good." Shrugging a bit, smiling at the shorter male, he turned to Gabriel as he grabbed for a bun.

"Chicken and veggies are fine. I'm not too fussy...so long as it's not some really radical American take on a bao bun." Like barbecue pork using American flavors or like a philly cheese steak bao bun - he's seen the second at a restaurant.

"I like traditional Chinese food I guess." It meant something to him...a taste of home, of the place he'd never seen. He had a love for it really. He just wished he could taste all of China. "Kai's dad is a chef..." So he wasn't surprised when the first bite proved to be good - really good!

Kai gave Xi-Wang an amused look and decided against telling him how he himself had played around with flavors and had in fact made a few 'Americanized' buns in the past, a few he even found himself liking. Though admittedly it was to help make a few interesting flavors for his Father's restaurant to try as novelty dishes. "Nothing wrong with liking things traditional, there are a lot of fantastic dishes out there after all." His chest puffed out a little bit when his Dad was brought up, proud of his Father and his accomplishments.

He then gave a shrug at Gabriel, a bit of blush on his cheeks. "If I'm being honest about it? I didn't even see them there." He had been a bit distracted by the tall drink of water looking puzzled but he wasn't going to say that out loud thanks. "Yes, he is the head chef at the restaurant as well, I could bring you both by some time if you would like?" He waited until both of them had buns of their own before taking one and biting into it. "Thank you, I'm glad you both like them." He then gave a laugh and a grin at Gab. "I'll definitely take you up on that some time."
