There was something mind boggling about being in a cemetery. The thought of being with hundreds of people, if not more while at the same time being absolutely alone? It always gave Harker chills. Although, he was okay with that. He did wish there was some sort of... organization who was were and what not.. something. But then again even that had it's own unique charm. The hills, trees... Ugh. Big ones, small ones. He loved it all.

That was, until, it came down to looking for a specific marker and not having much to go off of.

He grumbled idly to himself. Checking every marker he came across. He'd already checked a large portion of area. Opting to skip anything that looked relatively new or far too old. A travesty in his opinion really, given the older ones always had character.

No. He was looking for something that wasn't essentially old, but not quite new...

Harker would know what he'd been looking for it he saw it. Even if he had yet to technically see it...

Don't ask him how he'd know. He'd just know.

He bit back an irritated groan, ducking a low tree branch before having to do a double take.

There, hidden in the shadows of tree branches was a small tombstone marker. How the ******** anyone expected anyone else to see it was a mystery and a marvel all at the same time. Though that certainly explains why he was having such issues locating it.... At least she wasn't forgotten in some corner.. Though hidden under a tree probably wasn't much better.

With a sigh, he knelt in front of the marker

Aderyn Baskerville

"Hello Aderyn..." Harker said softly. "Sorry I'm, so late. You wouldn't believe what I've been through..." Then again, had she actually been there, he might have had more to worry about. "I can't stay long. I'm suppose to be meeting a few people to help me move back into town. I just wanted to stop by and leave you these." He said, placing a small cluster of snowdrops and roses in front of the marker.

"I promise I'll stop by soon. I've got a bit to catch you up on with mom..." With any luck anyway. "I gotta go..."

Visiting Aderyn's grave had become a weekly ritual since it was finally installed. Since he'd gotten that awful news from the woman on his Wonder--his ancestor, apparently--that if he had the mantle of Mycenae, Aderyn must be dead. That had been so long ago now, but the pain was still raw, every time he stepped into the churchyard and wound through the familiar path to her tree. He didn't usually bring flowers--this time it was a book he'd seen in a store that he knew she'd have loved.

He'd chosen the plot near a tree because it felt like somewhere she might have sat, curled up with a book and making notes as she read. She'd have enjoyed the quiet and the shade, and he hoped that she was resting well.

Usually, there was no one near it--the graves nearest hers didn't attract frequent visitors--and so when he approached and saw a stranger there, he made a noise of puzzlement.

"Are you lost?" He asked, though it seemed unlikely. The stranger had definitely stopped at Aderyn's grave--but perhaps they'd simply noticed the dates and stopped to pay brief tribute to a life cut far, far too short.

The sudden noise caused Harker to tense. Of course he'd cross paths with someone... He wasn't sure why he expected to be in and out without seeing someone. But unfortunately he had.

"No." He said, standing. "She was a friend." Harker turned as if it leave but stopped when he saw just who it was that had found him.

Tristan. Aderyn's brother.

Oh how tired, he looked now. But, it was no longer his place to worry about things like that.

Harker sighed, shifting his position a bit awkwardly and adjusting the scarf around his neck to hide his mouth in it. "It appear's I have been forgotten though. I'll take my leave now... Excuse me." He mumbled, side stepping around Tristan.

It was the voice that twigged Tristan's memory. He knew that voice, had known it for years, and it made him stiffen at first, and then turn to gently grab the stranger's arm.

"Wait," he said, and his voice was softer than it had been with anyone in a very, very long time. "Harker? Is that you?" It felt. Strange, to see him again after so many years, and upon closer inspection, Tristan was completely certain, and his heart jumped into his throat.

"I...had no idea you'd moved back to Destiny City," he said. That felt...stupid. Not the greeting Harker deserved, after all this time and considering everything he meant to Tristan. "It's. Good to see you again."

His heart launched into his throat when his arm was grabbed. And for a few seconds Tristan was greeted with the look of pure terror before Harker schooled himself. Ah there it was...

"Hello p" Harker cut himself short, clearing his throat. He had no right to call him that anymore. "Tristan. Hello Tristan.."

"Ah.. Yeah. Just recently. Things with my.. my... Things just fell through out there." He waved a hand dismissively, trying to distract himself from the thought. "I'm not moving back in with Mom though. She's better off with who she's will right now." They didn't need to deal with Harker's issues.

"It's good to see you too." I've missed you... "How are you??? You look...tired."

The look of terror made Tristan jerk his hand back. "Sorry," he said, guiltily, and he took a step back to give Harker some space. Clearly, he needed it.

"It's...I'm glad you're back," he said, which was at least better than repeating himself. "Sorry things fell through, though."

He exhaled, and forced a tight smile. "I've been working on my doctorate. Robotics engineering. I'm technically between semesters, but the work doesn't really stop, so." That, and being Mycenae meant plenty of late nights. "What about you? What have you been up to?"

"No. No. It's not you're fault... Just, surprised me... Is all. I don't handle surprises well.." He mumbled.

Harker blinked, stunned for a moment before speaking again. "...I'm not." Dad got what he'd deserved. Harker just wish it had happened sooner. "I'm better of here... I'll be better off here..." Maybe. Who knows. Maybe he was worse off here. He hadn't expected to run into Tristan so soon... if at all.

"That's good... Real good." He said awkwardly. "I imagine that's a lot." Probably best not to rush those things.

"I uh...run... own?" What was it it Jean had said again. "Uuuh.. A book store. I guess it's a little more then a book store?" Harker shrugged. A friend is moving me into the apartment above it.

Harker twitched awkwardly, suddenly unsure of what to do. "Uh... Did you want to see?"

This clearly wasn't a bad idea in the making... Nope. Not at all.

Tristan reached up to push back his bangs. God, he hated this. Normally he didn't mind how bad he was with people who weren't his research colleagues, but things between him and Harker...it felt wrong for them to be so awkward. But then, after how it had ended between them, what could he possibly expect?

"I'm, uh. glad things are better, then." He crossed his arms, but loosely, not really defensively, just...for something to do with his hands. A little nod of agreement at the suggestion that getting his Eng.D. was a lot--it was, obviously. That almost didn't need elaborating.

But a bookstore? Tristan perked up. "I'd love to see it. And...I'd love to talk to you somewhere less...sad." He glanced back at Aderyn's grave.

She'd be pleased with this, he was sure. She'd always liked Harker.

"Yes... Better..." Harker said with a sigh. "It will take a quite a bit... but I'll get there someday." He shifted awkwardly again, tightening the scarf as if he was cold.

Harker blinked slowly, seemingly collecting his thoughts. "It's... not your typical bookstore." He said, with a vague wave of his hand. "It's a bit..." Harker paused trying to find the word, but ultimately failed. "Well... You'll see when we get there." He mumbled. Though he did agree... They probably should talk, and talk somewhere just a tad less morbid..

Harker gestured to the grave. "Do what you came here for. I'll wait." He said, trying to hide a yawn. Thank god there was a coffee shop nearby...

Tristan nodded, and gave Harker a wan smile. "It always takes a while," he agreed.

At the mention fo doing what he came to do, he actually started a little, and then let out a little laugh. "Ah, right. Seeing you again distracted me so much, I forgot. I just...came to leave this for Aderyn." He pulled the book, wrapped in plastic to protect it from the elements, out of the bag slung over his shoulder. He stepped over to the grave, and bent, setting it against the headstone.

"I saw this one, and I just...knew she'd like it," he said, softly, and then he straightened, and nodded. "That's all I came for, really. I visit Aderyn every week--I don't think she'd mind me cutting today short to spend time catching up with you. She always liked you a lot, you know. So...let's go, and you can show me this odd little bookstore of yours."
