Prompt - The Fairy
The City has been lit up for the Star Festival with banners and twinkling decorations strewn off the windowsills of shop fronts and windows. The gardeners at one particular park have put their heart and soul into creating a fairy's paradise: Fairy lights have been carefully dangled from trees to make strings of stars, little beaded jewels have been hidden among the hedges, and even the old cobwebs have been sprayed with just a touch of glitter. The park is open to everyone and the citizens of Destiny City have been invited to respectfully explore the hidden wonders that have been placed throughout. The park is magical enough on its own but there have also been reports of a strange, ethereal and shimmering stranger in the park. The glimmer of a beautiful costumed figure fluttering through the park has been passed around as rumor, and no matter what anyone claims to see, no one can take a picture of it. As if simply seeing some magical figure isn’t mysterious enough, there are also reports of mischief and small pranks being played at the same time this figure seems to appear.
When the city wakes up things begin to get interesting...
His footsteps echoed as he walked through the park, largely empty now that the evening had closed in. The stalls remained set up and though their wares were safely stowed away the lights still coiled around their posts and shone as bright as petite stars. This was a place of magic for most children at this part of the year and they seemed to have thoroughly embraced the gardeners' visions. For want of a better description he now walked through a silent wonderland, aglow with glittering lights scattered throughout the hedgerows and trees.
There had been no signs of a disturbance in the area and now that he stood in the midst of the empty main straight he did have to wonder if, perhaps, there was something to what Adorea had said. As he had wandered about throughout the day he'd heard rumours, giggled musings of what had or hadn't been seen in the depths of the trees. As people had explored this magical park they had all had similar encounters, or seen something that seemed far too similar to be a fluke. What should have been the fanciful tails of a child were soon echoed by teenagers and adults alike, to the point that it seemed apt to see for himself.
Not that he could will whatever it was to appear, but he was pertinent that he establish if whatever was rumoured to exist, did in fact exist. More importantly he needed to discover whether this entity was a danger to society or if it was best left to whatever it was up to.
Thus, the senshi began to walk through the main straight once more and selected one of the winding pathways to the right to begin his search. If rumours were to be believed then the entity would appear briefly, fleetingly and then the 'magic' would start to happen. Unsurprisingly he still held an element of scepticism but he was learning that these anomalies were real and no matter how bizarre he should take them seriously.
THe city didn't take sides.
Wasn't that what she had said?
At first there was nothing, kept company only by the star-spattered lighting strewn in the bushes, there seemed to be no sign of who or what he might be looking for. As he approached a fork in the path though this seemed to change. Out of the corner of his eye he caught a shimmer of something and as he turned his head to look, he was almost astonished to discover that he was looking at exactly what others had described. It gave little care for him, it was still a fair distance away and seemed to be walking (or was it floating) with purpose towards another location in the park.
It made no sound and nor did it disturb the ground beneath it, but he could categorically say that it was there.
His lips parted as if to form an 'oh' of surprise, his scepticism taking its leave, and despite his better judgement he elected to follow it. Granted it didn't seem to give off any identifiable aura and it definitely didn't seem to be stopping to do anything, but perhaps when it reached its destination then something would happen? He followed quietly after it, half glancing towards the occasional rustle of a bush that seemed to chase him. Strange, but until such times as something were to happen to him he wouldn't worry too much.
The senshi continued to pursue the figure as it went and then eventually it reached a set of hedgerows. He might have imagined the pause, but it did eventually slip 'through' it, providing him with the opportunity to move closer and press his hands against it.
What he found was nothing special, it was a hedge.
Curious, but which part of the park had he been led to and what lay behind that hedge?
He supposed it would be worth a look; and so, he jumped!
