Bestla loved patrolling during the warmer seasons. Not only because she wasn't shivering her tits off, either. She felt like there was perhaps not quite as much bad stuff going on when it was warmer. Probably because the enemy wanted to get out a little and do their own thing.

Hell she'd rather be doing her own thing, but she had a responsibility.

Dammit.

For a moment he simply ran, enjoying the exercise, With any luck, there wouldn't be anyone out stupid enough to try messing with her.

Now, Paracelsian wasn't stupid enough to mess with a super ranked anything, though that depended on your definition of "mess with." Was he going to get in that powerful-looking woman's way? No. Was his aura going to get in her way? Probably. Would he ask her to donate? Maybe. Would he offer a polite greeting? Yes, of course.

Well, he didn't want to interrupt her running, so he just kind of stood there, hiding in as plain sight as possible. He kind of wished he had a stopwatch, or any timing device at all, partly for the sake of a cheap gag and partly because it might be fun to take down her times and compare them to... something.

He cleared his throat as a way of announcing his presence subtly, insofar as a Captain's aura made anything subtle at all. She'd probably hear him. She'd probably stop running.

She'd probably utterly flatten him if she didn't feel like being polite.

Normally, Bestla prided herself on keeping alert. Normally, she was pretty good when it came to feeling other auras nearby.

Normally.

On this day, however, she'd been too lost in her own enjoyment of the sun and simply moving. The sound of a clearing throat drew her attention before the realization that she was practically on top of a Chaotic aura did. This did not put her into a charitable frame of mind. THough, she felt she'd done a decent enough job of covering just how startled she'd been. After all, it wasn't easy to do a dead stop when running, so her half slide at least looked good.

Stupid b***h, she scolded herself, learn to pay attention. And don't ******** try to show off, please...

Making a small show of shaking dust from her skirt, Bestla's eyes scanned the area until they came to a male that, to her eyes at least, looked like he was trying to hide all while realizing that he wasn't doing a terribly amazing job of it. She guessed by the feel of the aura surrounding him that he was probably on par with her strength wise. She didn't see any metal topped canes, though. So this encounter was already looking pretty good.

Eye contact had been made. Following a certain game's rules, this meant that a battle, or at least an encounter, had been initiated. "Greetings, senshi," Paracelsian said, his voice even but warm. "I don't have a stopwatch, but it looked like you were making good time. I didn't want to bother you, but you know. Duty calls."

He took a few cautious steps closer. "There's a few different ways this can go. Ideally, you hear me out on my request for a small energy donation, go through with that, and then we go on our ways. Less than ideally... well..." He didn't even want to put the idea of a fight into her head. "I hope it doesn't come to that. I like to keep things clean around here."

Even he knew he was talking out of his a**. It wasn't like he'd splatter this senshi if she didn't donate. He tried to convince himself that he wasn't intimidated, but really, he had a feeling the odds weren't 100% in his favor.

For a moment, all Bestla could do was stare slack-jawed at the officer. Oh sure, he was polite enough in a weird way, but. Seriously?!? Had she seriously just heard him asking her to donate energy? Had she woken up in bizarro world?

After a moment of goggling, she closed her eyes, massaged the bridge of her nose and took a deep breath. She wasn't sure what was the more shock inducing. The polite request or this weedy looking ******** talking as if he could actually beat her. He liked to keep things clean, hrmm? Snorting in amusement, the senshi stalked forward, smiling in a sweetly icy way that would have had anyone who knew her racing for the hills.

"An interesting proposal, I will admit," Bestla was nearly purring. It wasn't often that the universe gave her such a nicely gift-wrapped idiot to thrash. "But see, I don't believe in giving energy to anyone who works for a group of monsters. And I really don't think you can make me."

Her smile widened as she paused only a couple of feet from the officer and rather dramatically cracked her knuckles.

"Now, ideally," she mimicked his own speech. "You hear me out and give up this Negaverse bullshit. Power down and walk away. Or even better find some willing knight who can help you break free from the Chaos. Less than ideally, for you I might add, I find a way to beat the stupid out of you."

She ended her speech with the brightest of smiles. She doubted he'd take the former option. But she would give him that chance to truly do the right thing.

The look he was getting wasn't a good one. Paracelsian tried not to shudder as the senshi approached. He was really in for it this time.

"We are not monsters," he blurted out. It was largely an accident, and he was quite sure he wouldn't have time to explain his point of view. All the same, he did the best to hear out her side of the proposal, and to respond reasonably, or at least as if he'd considered the option. "I could power down, I suppose. But I can't do that in front of you. Identity policies, you know. While I do appreciate you giving me an out, I'm not sure I can take it."

He sighed, perhaps with a little more dramatic emphasis than was warranted. "It's not as easy as just walking away. I think you'd know that." There was too much going on for him to give it much more description than that, unless she wanted to inquire. He doubted she would though.

Rolling her eyes and waving her hand ina 'hurry it up' motion, Bestla shook her head.

"I'm not going to waste breath arguing about the monster thing. Your lot are way to sheeple-y to actually see it most of the time. And frankly, you could turn around and walk away and power down once you're out of sight. So that is a super ******** flimsy argument."

Bestla was almost enjoying the discourse. Almost. But it was trying to patience. And really, if this guy was already arguing his way out of doing the right thing, she suspected that an a** kicking was inevitable.

"And I think it is that easy. Unless you're a complete ******** who told your bosses all about your private life. And even then, you could walk away right now and find a knight to help you purify and help you save your loved ones. Nope. Do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars."

Unable to keep still, Bestla began to circle-stalk the officer, watching him like a hawk even as she prepared to deliver whatever blows would be necessary. Honestly, she didn't think he had the guts to do the right thing, but she would give him one last chance.

For some reason, the sheeple epithet stuck in Paracelsian's mind. It didn't make sense to him for some reason. What did that have to do with anything? He sucked in a breath and sighed into his scarf. "You're right. I could just walk away. But be honest: will you let me?" It was part honest question, part test. He had a feeling that this Senshi wasn't the type to let Chaos agents just walk away truly unscathed. What would truly happen?

Paracelsian shook his head. "What Knight is capable of purifying? This is the first I've heard of it." His memory might have been off, or maybe he was in denial. "My 'bosses' don't know anything. Still, one can't change their entire world with just a thought."

And he was still trying to argue and talk his way out of doing what was right. Shaking her head irritably, Bestla looked down on the agent with genuine and sincere pity in her eyes.

"If I thought you were truly sincere and would actually act to find someone to help you?" she asked in a gentle voice. "Yes. In a heartbeat. I would even offer to help get you to the knights myself."

She pounced, seizing the officers uniform front and easily lifting him.

"But you won't. Are you even listening to yourself make all these excuses? You don't want to change. And you're so wrong. The world and lives are changed all the time with a single thought or word."

Her voice grew hard as her grip tightened.

"You're too much of a little coward to even try."

An ungainly squawk left Paracelsian's mouth when the Senshi grabbed and lifted him. Senshi strength was one thing, but this lady was something else. He flailed a little, but ultimately but his efforts towards remaining stiff in the grip.

Even when called a coward, Paracelsian barely blinked. "You're not wrong," he said. "Maybe I am a coward. Maybe I am foolish to believe that, on some level, we can coexist as we are, without having to change."

He let his ideal drop in front of her, a lure of sorts. He didn't want to have to call his dagger to hand, but the thought itched at him.

Disbelief warred with disgust across Bestla's face as the officer spoke. Did he normally vomit words like this? Did he even understand what, precisely his little dream world would be like for normal people? Finally, disgust won out and the senshi's moss-grey eyes went hard as she shook the officer in her grip like a dog worrying a rat.

"You're worse than a coward," she sneered. "Coexist with people who routinely turn monsters loose on civilians? People who think it's great fun to utterly destroy a starseed? Who think nothing of leaving families broken?"

Then, as if it was no effort at all on her part, Bestla casually threw the officer from her. Then, without bothering to see where or how he landed, she made a show of wiping her hand across her skirt. <******** you," she said. "And ******** your little Firefly Funhouse idea of coexistence. You don't deserve the chance I gave you."

To say that Paracelsian's lure backfired would be an understatement. Another awkward noise left him as the senshi straight-up threw him some ways away. He wasn't sure what he expected; what else would she do with him? Aside from drop him and pummel him, maybe.

When his body stopped ringing like a tuning fork from the unwieldy landing he'd made, a soft "no" escaped him. Head drooped slightly once he pulled himself up to sitting, he muttered, "Those people would have no place in the world I want to build."

That didn't matter though, did it? They existed. They were in this reality. He made no move to pursue the senshi at this point.

And he was still talking! Or trying to. In spite of herself, Bestla was mildly impressed. She had to give the deluded idiot some props as far as sturdiness went. She never would have expected that given how weedy he looked.

Still.

Hands balling into fists instinctively, the tall senshi stalked towards the fallen officer, fully intending to beat him until he understood. Though part of her had to wonder at the fairness of thrashing an opponent that was dazed. Maybe she'd just put on a good show and let him flee into the night...

"Oh well, pardon me, I'm sure," she said mockingly. "I'm sure the monster Chaos goddess y'all follow will roll over nicely and let you be in charge if you just explain things to her. 'Cause, y'know, she's just so understanding like that..." the sarcasm in her voice could have sliced through rock.

Not that Bestla really knew. All she had to go on was there was a big Chaotic monster ultimately in charge of things. Maybe it was all just stories to make people obey. Or maybe there really was some creepy, hungry deity of Chaos chilling out somewhere.

And now she'd creeped herself out.

Paracelsian had stopped responding. He knew the basic tenets of Metallia's will, but when he thought about it, he'd rarely acted much with her in mind. Yes, everything in the Negaverse came back to her eventually, but for whatever reason, he just hadn't thought about it much. He'd been thinking of the agents as just their own unit within the Negaverse, without their ties to what lay beyond. Something bigger than what he previously realized was definitely going on.

He shook his head and stopped trying to defend himself. This senshi wasn't going to buy a single thing he was selling. He remained quiet, and hoped that she would let her disgust peak and leave him be.

Well, the officer's silence boded well as far as Bestla not feeling further impelled to slap him stupid. But he just sat there. Did he think her vision was based on movement or something? he wasn't making any moves to attack.

He just sat there.

Pausing a couple of feet from him, the tall senshi crossed her arms and stared down at him, trying to figure out if there was some sort of scheme going on. After more silence, she decided there wasn't. So, a win for her in the books, then? Yay?

"While I appreciate you giving your voice a rest," she finally said, "There is the small matter of you kind of just... existing now. But I'm feeling generous at the moment and I don't like actively destroying people. So. Run. Run now and do not pause. Do not look back. I am really going to let you go."

To further prove her sincerity, she took several deliberate steps backwards before turning her back on the officer.

"Better be grateful, assbutt," she called as she walked away. She'd duck into a patch of shadow and then take the long way home to insure that he couldn't follow her. But somehow, she didn't think he would try. Maybe she'd gotten through somehow.

"Better remember this too," she called back. "It's a hell of a lot more than your lot would do for me if circumstances were reversed."

She was taking a chance, but sometimes, risks had to happen. Besides, unless he was like.. the Flash, there was no way for him to catch up with her.
