The Charity Benefit (1) - A number of the local businesses in the area have come together to organise a charity benefit. In addition to a silent auction, there is also an evening charity ball. The community has been wanting to raise funds to fix up a few public areas for some time now and in the spirit of the Star Festival, these businesses have donated several prizes to the event to encourage people to attend. As one of the local residents you have been kindly invited to attend! Formal attire is encouraged but only required if you plan to attend the Ball.

Daisy stared at the invitation in her hand bemusedly. She wasn’t entirely sure how she’d rated an invite… Oh sure, it said it was due to her being a DC local, but since she didn’t own a business or really give her custom to a lot of the businesses in town, she wasn’t sure how the event folks would have found her name. After a moment’s thought, she concluded that one of the shops she did give her money to had simply used a rewards registry or the like. Not that it was all that big of a deal. Besides, a charity auction and ball sounded pretty damn fun!

Tossing the pretty little invitation card onto the tiny table near her front door, Daisy headed for the calender hanging in her kitchen and considered. Time wise, she didn’t have anything else happening. And the idea of donning formal wear appealed. It had been a long time since she’d had a reason to get all prettied up. And she had a deep red dress that she thought would be just perfect. Or rather, she thought with a wide grin, it would be perfect once she’d had a chance to bling it up a little bit. Granted, she’d meant to use it for a Scorpia cosplay first… Oh well. The dress wouldn’t mind being used for multiple purposes, she was sure.

Racing for her closet, she found the dress and laid it out on the bed, noting places where she’d have to tighten or loosen some stitching. Other places where she’d need to add some beads or perhaps a small cluster of silk flowers to cover a worn spot in the fabric. Yes. Yessss… this dress would certainly suit her needs. Now, did she have shoes that would match? She was tall enough that she wouldn’t need heels… But oh! She wanted them! Maybe something in a nice black velvet? Or gold? If she used her gold gladiator heels, it would pop more. And she could use gold accents on the dress.

Laughing gleefully, Daisy began to lose herself in the thrill of designing. Oh, this was going to be fun. And come to think of it, she had a bit of money put away, maybe she could bid on something. Or donate it outright. Either worked, though she was honest enough to admit privately to wanting something nice for herself if she was going to plunk down a wad of cash.

Okay, so she had clothes and accessories figured out to a point. How could she do her hair? Having one side shaved made things a little trickier when it came to stylish hairs. Could he maybe do some sort of twist and pin it in place with a flower or two? Well, maybe. But that might take more product than she liked to think about. And there was nothing glamorous about crunchy hair. She’d have to play around and see what she could manage to accomplish.

Heck, just having a fancy event to look forward to was more than enough motivation!
