Reina glanced around the large room. It was far bigger than her own room at home and the youngling even wondered if the room could eat her actual house since it was so big. Okay probably not but she did like to at least imagine it could. Woah. Reina knew that her mother had said for her and her sister to wait patiently for their playmate to arrive but it was really tempting to go and check out the giant burgundy draperies that were layered across the vast windows overlooking the palace courtyard below. Reina had spotted a big stone fountain in the middle of the mazes of flowers and wondered how much trouble she would get for using it as a swimming pool. It was so huge that she could probably go fishing in it as well! Did fish live in fountains? She pursed her lips thoughtfully before shaking her head, nah that was silly. Or was it?
Sighing, Reina bounced on the balls of her feet. How much longer would they have to wait? She studied the room with a slight frown. There were so many stacked things for her to play with. Like how did one person even play with all of these things? Tilting her head, her dreads bouncing along her shoulders, Reina let out a huff. Maybe she could get away with taking that one Xaraan toy that was over there? And maybe that one janarim? Or those colorful blocks that were making a pyramid? The youngling crossed her arms and glanced towards her sister. What did she think of all of this? It was definitely rather fancy and full of stuffs. She just hoped that their playmate would be interesting and wouldn't mind if she maybe played with like....five different things at once? Okay maybe...probably more. She really hoped that he would get here soon!

His mom had left him in his playroom earlier telling him he was going to have some other kids come over. She said they were Varinia's daughters. Nic somewhat remembered his keeper talking about having children of her own but he couldn't quite remember anything in particular that had been said about the kids. When he had been deposited into the large room full of toys he went to his favorite corner near the wall of windows. A few sheer curtains that matched the drapes had been hung to make a little tent area and he had put a bunch of pillows in there and it was his favorite place to read. Which ended up being his current location. His momma had recently gotten some different books in and had been working with him on his reading whenever she had the time so he thought if he could get a chance to do some on his own he might surprise her! Plus this one was on the different animals in Oba. It was one in a set that had all the different regions of Tendaji and he couldn't wait to dive into those when one of his parents had a chance to work with him on it! He was about halfway through the book, looking at some pictures of some janarim when he heard a soft sigh and some movement. Was he ready to meet new people? Maybe he should just stay in his tent. But then his mom would be upset with him. Slowly, he peeked out of the fabric, not fully committing to leaving his comfy spot.

Variel yawned and stretched with her eyes closed. She had not slept well last night. At the apex of her yawn she opened her eyes to by chance meet someone elses gaze peeking from what must have been the coolest secret area ever. She blinked and closed her mouth. Turning forward and glancing again. Huh. He had been here the whole time. What a hunter. She respected that. Well, time to see how creative he was. She pointed at her sister behind her back and wiggled her hand. "You know I like our room at home, but this is a bit much don't you think? How many kids did the palace think it was going to have at once?" She tossed her hair in challenge.

"Too many." Quipped back Reina to her sister with a small grin, "I guess they wanted a bunch of kids runnin' about." She shook her head, her dreads bouncing with the movement, "Still! I can't sit still forever." Admittedly she had noticed that her sister had spotted something but Reina was in no rush to actually hurry over and see whoever it was hiding in a tent. If they wanted to come out then they should! If not then she was prepared to go ahead and have a lot of fun with some of the toys in the room. Taking a tentative glance behind her, another sweep of the room to make sure there was no secret adult hiding to tell her 'no', Reina started forward.
"Let's just go ahead and play some". She commented loudly, "No point in waitin' forevers! We'll grow old and die at this rate." A youngling who was always more into action than words and patience, Reina found herself reaching out to grab a few soldiers and a couple of wooden xaraan and other carved creatures. The craftsmanship on the wooden toys was intricate, the details almost bringing the creatures and soldiers to life. Reina had automatically been drawn to them because she much preferred things like these to dresses and the like. Taking her new treasures near the tent, just a bit further away and towards the center of the room almost as if taunting the tent's occupant, the girl plopped onto the floor, "Look Variel! He's gonna tame the Xaraan and learn ta ride it!" She called out to her sister with a grin as she tried to figure out exactly how the little man in one hand would approach the wild and currently bucking Xaraan who she was moving about in the other hand.

It would seem he had been spotted but at least one of them was willing to let him keep to himself for the time being, which he appreciated. It wasn't until one of them started playing with some of the wooden toys he liked best that he took more interest in the other kids. "Well he would probably need a rope if he wanted to try and tame it first...and then it'd be a while to earn the xaraan's trust to ride it. That is, if you would rather not fall on your butt from being bucked off alot." Nic scooted out of his tent to watch the one girl playing with his toys. "The xaraan are fast too so he'd probably need a few more people to try and help catch it even..." He grabbed a few more of the toy soldiers and arranged them in an arc around the toy animal. "Are you Miss Varinia's kids?"

Variel nodded at Nic, she smiled. "Yes we are, are you by chance Princess Nae's boy? Mom talks about you all the time." Variel wasn't jealous though, the adoration her mother showed for this boy just proved she was the right woman to be his nanny. Mom would ensure that Nic grew up right. Besides Daddies were much easier to wrap about ones finger than Mom's who already knew what you were up to. She sat down to play with two janarim toys and slowly had them walk over to Reina's characters. "The janarim hear the racket and want to know if Xaraan is being served for dinner. There are two, what does your tamer think?"

Ah, so their host finally decided to come out and play. Reina smiled, proud of her little accomplishment, before moving the Xaraan into a more defensive position away from the soldier. Her lips pursed thoughtfully at his suggestion before she slowly nodded, " But do ya think he could even get a lot of people in time before it runs away? Wouldn't a real hero be up to the challenge?" She teased lightly as she studied the figure in her hand while the other youngling set up an arc around the toy animal, " Now I feel like the poor Xaraan needs help to fight back." It almost felt like they were bullying the Xaraan at this point! Reina couldn't help but to be a bit sympathetic as she looked at the lone creature surrounded by the soldiers. She was so caught up in studying the poor creature's fate that it was fortunate Variel answered the prince's question else she may have been seen as rude for ignoring him. At first she was thankful for her sister's help until she heard the dinner comment, " Vari!" Reina gasped before clutching the Xaraan closer, " The janarim should feel pity for their friend and want him to be free not eat him!" She placed the soldier down, joining him in the arc created by the others, before glancing thoughtfully about, " Maybe a group of Xaraan see what's going on and want to protect their friend..." She mused out loud as she studied the toy pile and slowly reached towards it to see if there were others to join in for the cause.

"I suppose it would depend on what the janarim feels is the most threatining right now. If it's the soldiers, dinner could probably wait. Unless the janarim was trained by the soldiers then it'd probably be trying to help catch the Xaraan. But..." He remembered what his momma told him about actually playing with the other kids and not just reading the whole time. "I guess if we're just pretending then maybe the Xaraan and the Janarim are friends and the Janarim came to the rescue!" He felt a little silly, it wasn't often he induldged his creativity like that. "Or something like that..." He whispered to himself. Realizing he hadn't answered one of the girl's questions he turned towards her. "Princess Naevius is my mommy yes. I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself, I'm Nicias." He inclined his head in greeting as he had been taught by the tutors.

Her dinner menu stymied by them both, she adjusted her plan and had both janarim battle a soldier on the outskirts. "The others will hear this skirmish. Man this would be so scary in real life, I want to be a janarim. Big teeth and claws. Rawr." She made a claw with her hand and gently swiped the air. Nothing like armor plates and large teeth to ward someone off after all. "My name is Variel, this is Reina."

Reina just stared at the boy, her lips pursed in frustration at his explanations. Why did the janarim have so many options to its actions? Still, she supposed it was better than the janarim just trying to eat the Xaraan. Her frustration ebbed a bit when he offered that the Janarim was actually a friend of the Xaraan. That was a good idea! It definitely was a twist! Reina grinned triumphantly at her sister, " Nicias is right!" She chirped happily as she watched the janarim fighting off the soldiers before having the Xaraan run circles around a few others. Plus it worked out because she hadn't seen any Xaraan when she had quickly skimmed the area. If she had gone to search for more then the poor Xaraan would have been really in trouble by the time she had returned! Reina laughed with delight as she bounced the Xaraan around and raced it towards freedom, " I'm sure the Janarim and Xaraan can have a victory dinner once they're free of the soldiers but you're right they should move quickly before more soldiers arrive." She offered her sister with a small grin, " But I think I would like to be like both. Speedy and strong!" The Xaraan were super speedy while the Janarim could fight. She definitely would love to have both of those abilities so that she could defend her friends one day. Reina's bright gaze turned towards Nicias, " What about you? Any familiar in particular you would like to be like?" [4/10]

One by one he knocked down some of the soldiers that were being defeated by the familiars. "Better hurry up! The messenger is about to bring reinforcements!" He called out as he jumped up to go to the bin with more toy soldiers and arranged them a little ways away as if they were on their way to the rescue. "Well I don't know if I would want to BE one...but I'd like to have a Janarim like my Daddy. I think that'd be pretty cool to ride around on one all the time." He was slowly moving the column of soldiers closer to the circle while try to knock some of the existing ones down still. "It's nice to meet you, Variel and Reina."

Variel's heart raced as if she were the janarim fighting the men. "The janarim smell the extra soldiers, it is much more work than they thought to take down so many fine men." She moved them off the field to catch their breaths. "I hope the xaraan makes it out okay." She had grown fond of the beast as her sister made him out to be valiant. She loved courage and bravery and wanted to be just as brave as their parents one day. "I say its about time we met, I don't know what mom was waiting for anyhow." Variel rolled her eyes.

" Okay, okay!" Reina was prepared to full on run away with the Xaraan. Her little heart was pounding with excitement in her chest as she visualized the epic battle happening before them. There was so much action! Her excitement did slip a bit at the boy's statement, her lips pursing with thought. It wasn't like she wanted to be one exactly either....she just wanted to be strong and fast like them! " Either way I think it would be cool to be strong and fast." She confirmed with a slight nod, " Just as my own self of course." Reina nodded at her sister's statement before having the Xaraan dart away, she even got up so that she could run him through the playroom before nestling him in a nice hiding spot out of the soldiers' reach, " He did get away!" She chirped happily before rejoining her sister and their new friend, " But now what?" She settled back down on the ground and stared between the other two younglings, " I'm sure Mama was making certain we weren't going to bite him first." Reina couldn't resist teasing with a wide grin towards the boy, " We could be too wild to tame." [Reina 5/10]
