Coming Together

Solo Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750

Prompt
The past five years have continued to meld and mesh the lands of Tendaji. Where once tribes kept to their own lands, many were now seeing their colorful neighbors on a regular basis. While the cultures still stand, a welcoming sense of curiosity and openness has resulted in a peace across the entire region.

What have you done these past five years? Have you explored? Have you welcomed others? What has your story been and how have you grown in this new future of Tendaji?

This solo-only prompt is for you to explore the growth of your character these past 5 years in relation to the cultures of Tendaji. You must walk us through how your character's impression of the other races has changed or evolved, and how they've grown as a result.

WC - 778

The rock and sway of the ship was slowly getting her to shut her eyes as thoughts swirled their way around her mind. Brexxa was on the large boat with her dad on their way to Yael. She’d heard about the strange land but never had she dreamed about going there. Travel had always been out of her reach before. She had come from an orphanage so there were things she couldn’t have.

But now.. Now, Brexxa was adopted. Had been for the past few years. Life had improved for her. And her little brother.

The time she had to herself in her room as the ocean provided the perfect back and forth motion meant that she got to think about everything. The past. The present. The future. In the past she had been parentless, constantly worried about herself and her brother. In the present she had little worries at all. Gael was the best dad. He always got them whatever they wanted or needed. Food was never scarce. Luxury was available when she wanted it. In the future Brexxa hoped it would continue.

As Gael’s daughter she had access to things she didn’t have before and that made her smile. A sleepy smile that no one would see, but she smiled none-the-less. Brexxa shifted slightly as she moved to her side, one arm coming up to bend and cradle her head as she lay on the bed. Closing her eyes completely this time she took in a deep breath and sighed happily. The passing of time had happened quicker than she thought. Brexxa hadn’t thought it had been that long since she’d started to live with her new family but now that she really thought back she could see it. The passing of time had gotten away from her when she’d stopped being so worried about everything.

Now, with her eyes closed and the ever present rocking she could feel herself slipping closer and closer to sleep. As she clung to the last remnants of consciousness she focused more on the future. What she wanted from life now that she had so many options. If she’d thought about such a thing in the past she’d have simply said a place to sleep and food to eat. Simple things. Now she had more complex desires.

Brexxa wanted to keep what she had. Her dad. Her home. Even her family familiar, Bastul. Despite him being annoying sometimes. Along with keeping what was good she wanted to ask for more.

Earlier she’d heard some of the sailors on deck talking about the new lands that had been discovered. Not Yael, as that was old news these days even though it was still new to many. Yael had many secrets yet to give but it was another place altogether that had the men twittering like birds. A place called Kahikina.

She thought the name strange just to hear but she was no expert on naming things. But this gave her yet more to think about. More places in the world. Perhaps even a place she might want to go to. If it proved to be hospitable. Brexxa wasn’t really a fighter so she didn’t want to go to dangerous lands. She didn’t seek the thrill of life and death situations like others did. Nor did she see that changing anytime soon. And unless her dad was going there in the near future she didn’t think she would be either.

Brex was still clinging to Gael, even after all the years spent with him. She feared that if she closed her eyes for too long, or got too comfortable then she would lose him or wake up from some dream she didn’t want to end. She was getting better, slowly letting go and enjoying things, but it would take a little while longer before she was fully able to stand alone and be confident that her life was the way it was now.

Another deep breath and she moved again, this time to curl her legs up, tucking her feet into the blanket. She could feel her mind wanting to blank so that sleep could take hold. It wasn’t such a bad idea. It was late. Brexxa had stayed up past her bedtime to try and see Gael when he was done with his duties on deck but it seemed like she would fail again this night. The lull of the ship as she made her way across the waves was too tempting to ignore. Finally her mind stopped it’s insistent thinking and settled into a comfortable silence so that sleep could engulf her. She could always think of more things tomorrow.
