How does your character react to the introduction of Kahikina to Tendaji? This prompt can be anything, a way to cope, a way to learn more, even the first time they meet the other race. The main focus is discover and evaluation of this new world
A beautiful morning.
A figure sat along the cliffs that overlooked the Matorian ocean. It was lovely weather with the sun shimmering over the horizon, its rays making the ocean water glitter like crystals. Kyril was visiting home from Sulburi and had thought it was too lovely a morning to waste and so without much further adieu she had hiked up to the little area behind their family's manor so that she could perch on a rock and study some parchments. Some pieces of parchment were actually blank and she currently had one propped up on a knee while trying her best to draw with a stick of charcoal. While glass work was her forte the best thing she had here was parchment and so she made the best of it. After years of working as an artisan it was simply too strange to sit idly at home.
The charcoal itself left smudges along her fingertips, a few already along her cheeks from touching her face, but the hybrid wasn't even bothered. She was obviously having fun trying her best to draw up an image of something that she had recently heard about - a person with fins and gills who could survive underwater.

Pynar found himself without anything to do and found none of his siblings around the house to try and hang out with so he made his way up to one of his sister's favorite places. Perhaps Kyril would be up there and he could just keep her company for a little while. Once he finally hiked up he saw her sitting and looking rather focused on a piece of parchment in front of her. "Got something stuck in your head?" He asked.

Blinking, Kyril glanced up and smiled when she noticed Pynar. Out of all of her siblings he would be the one to find her perched up here overlooking the ocean below, "Sort of? Honestly it's too strange for me to sit still so I thought I would come up here and draw." She admitted sheepishly as she placed a charcoal back on the parchment, "Have you heard about the new lands? I was in the market yesterday and heard that apparently there's underwater people in the new islands." She gestured towards her rough sketch, "I'm trying to figure out what they could look like."
The hybrid let out a chuckle, "But I can't decide if they just have a tail for moving underwater or actually legs like us." It was so strange to think about a whole race who spent more time in the ocean than on land. Who would have ever imagined that?

Ah, that made sense then. He had heard the rumors too but he wasn't quite sure about it. It was all just a little bit too strange if you asked Pynar. "I've heard of them, yes. But honestly I'm really not sure. It all just sounds a little too....different?" He paused and looked at her sketch as he continued to think. "There's really no way of knowing yet is there? We only really have hearsay right now." Py shrugged. "Assuming they have some of the same roots as us I would think they'd have legs. But, if they can really live underwater I guess there's really not for sure answer until we've seen one."

Kyril chuckled at her brother's reaction, "I suppose you are right. It does sound a bit too strange to believe, right?" She shook her head, her hairpieces clinking like bells with the movement, "I guess legs would make the most sense unless they have other races with just tails? Like some can walk on the land while others couldn't? Or they have some sort of magic that gives them legs when they walk on land..." Kyril pursed her lips as she tilted her parchment thoughtfully. Honestly the possibilities were limitless with the new races. Who knew what potential they had? As a magic user herself she often relied upon the elements to aid her own work...so why couldn't the Kahikana use the elements as well to aid them with their lives underwater or on land?
"Maybe we should just go over there and see for ourselves." Mused Kyril out loud before she glanced to Pynar, "Though I'm not one to leave the city I suppose. Still, I have wondered about traveling before." Once she had even nearly gone to Belrea so why not think about seeing Kahikana? Her skills had grown as an artisan but who knew what else she could learn by visiting other countries? Kyril sighed at the thought. It was a lot to think about for sure.

Pynar sat beside his sister, his arms behind him to brace himself as he leaned back. "I'm not sure, Kyril. There are so many strange things in this world that just keep appearing, and sometimes ones that disappear just as fast. I suppose the only real way to find out would be to either go over to their new land or I guess wait in some of the Matori port towns. Though....if they have tails I doubt they'd use boats. I guess even if they can breath underwater it'd be kinda unlikely they'd use boats anyhow...I'm not sure if it's crazy or not to want to go over there at this time. Its just...new. There's not much information about it. I don't know that it'd be safe, probably not for somewhere to go adventuring for the first time. You'd probably want to find people who do it all the time. Or maybe even one of the first people who had gone and they could be your guide to make sure you didn't get hurt or in trouble." Py sighed. He always worried about his siblings, he couldn't help it.

Kyril nodded as she listened to Pynar. Her younger brother certainly was a responsible one. Cahira or Koril probably would have wanted to go diving into the new lands without any plans or hesitation. A reason that she constantly worried about their well being. What would they do when Cahira was old enough to travel one day? "I figured most would think it's too dangerous and they are probably correct." She responded with a small smile, "I agree that it would be better to take our time and see what the new lands have to offer before venturing over there. I'm not much of one to risk my own life for fun after all."
"Perhaps the merchants will return with drawings of the new races. Surely they would want to gather information and share it with the rest of us." Or more than likely they would come around with some exaggerated stories to sell more goods. The thought made her bite her bottom lip thoughtfully. "We'll just have to hope an honest adventurer comes through with some good and true stories." She finally mused out loud as she glanced towards Pynar.

"That or wait for enough adventurers to come back that we can find some kind of semblance between their stories to see fact from fiction." Pynar thought. If enough people came back with stories, it was unlikely that they would all exaggerate in the same way. It would be easier to tell what might be true then. "Even so...I'm sure there is a lot of new things to learn...its a whole new people with a whole different way of life. It will be interesting to hear at least." That was the positive, he thought, a lot more information to file away in his mind.

"Agreed." Kyril nodded with a smile towards her younger sibling. "I really do hope that they have some beautiful artwork or trinkets over there. I'd love some new inspiration for my own work." She mused lightly as she glanced back towards the ocean. They had always lived by the ocean but to live beneath it? Talk about a strange thought indeed. Maybe when she was younger she could have imagined it but now? Her mind just couldn't wrap around how one could live underwater without the use of some sort of magic. "I wonder if the Matori ever had the ability to live beneath the waves....it would be fitting somehow but probably not, right?" She glanced towards her brother with a small shrug. "There's just so much to this world that we have yet to learn it seems."

"I'm sure there is, Kyril. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all." While Pynar wasn't sure if he himself would find beauty in their wares he was sure there would be plenty that would. He shrugged back as his sister continued to muse about the past. "There's no telling. Perhaps way in the past. I mean, look how far all of us earthlings have come just in our lifetime. Anything is possible I suppose." And that was what was wonderful and terrifying about the time they lived it, anything could happen.

Kyril found herself teasing Pynar slightly at the philosophical statement. "Someone has been studying lately." While it seemed like a lot of her younger siblings were hellions at least Pynar seemed collected. Not that she loved any of her siblings any less but they definitely could be a handful at times and she knew that Cahira would rather go out and beat something up instead of listening to lessons. Even more reason I would suspect that she would race to this new island instead of sitting around for stories of it.
"Still, you're not wrong. I just pray that nothing evil comes out of those waters. I think we've had enough dark creatures in this realm as it is." Sometimes even amongst the earthlings themselves with how twisted some souls could be. The very thought brought a chill down Kyril's spine and she found herself clutching tightly at her drawing charcoal.

Even though she was his sister, her compliment brought a blush to his face. Pynar, one who would usually rather stay home and do quiet tasks than other things, rarely did anything actually deserving of praise so it always made him a little bashful. Her next comment sobered him up though. He remembered the time as a youngling when the Dretch threat was real. "I agree. Though we can only hope and pray to the gods that they stay gone. And, as you said, that nothing else appears to step in their place." His mouth set in a grim line as his thoughts took a dark turn.

Kyril nodded. "It would be rather unfortunate if so." The hybrid shifted so that she could scoop up her parchment papers and charcoal. Kyril stood as she placed them into a satchel and stretched her arms above her head. "Well enough about worrying over dark things." She stated with a smile towards her younger sibling. "Why not head home and see what we can do in the kitchen or something? Working all morning has made me thirsty and in need of a snack." With that expressed the young woman reached over to nudge Pynar playfully before starting down the path through the cliffs again. Neither of them should have to worry about some far away land. Right now they had plenty enough on their plates in Oba and Matori as it was!

Pynar nodded his head in agreement. It would be a little more than unfortunate but that was neither here nor there. The idea of a snack sounded good to him though. It was good that he had a fast metabolism otherwise he would likely gain weight to show how much he liked food. "Sounds like a plan to me!" He agreed as he took her nudge in stride and allowed her to lead the way back to the house. "I hope there is some more of that cheese left..." He mused quietly to himself as they walked back.
