Amoe couldn't help herself. Once she had heard about another world, with land walkers no less, she had to venture out and explore. She would be damned if she didn't catch the first ship out of Kahikina with the other land walkers and get a glimpse of the new world herself. Was it hard to try to be out of water more than usual? Well, yeah, but she wasn't ready to give up just because of that. There were plenty of work arounds.

Her journey to Tendaji was a weird one no doubt, but landing on the shores... boy was that weirder. She stuck out like a sore thumb and she could be wrong but she just felt like the sun was hitting different. Too bright, too hot, too dry. Not like Kahikina at all.

She had made it all the way to Matori, or so she found out it was called. She didn't set the course, she just let the waters take her.

Ziel had spent a long time traveling all over Tendaji, Yael, and Belrea. She never stayed long enough to make lasting connections but just long enough to know the area with some familiarity. She’d almost felt as if she knew every inch and corner of the known world by now and then she was surprised by a whole new area to explore! And of course you couldn’t forget either all the new people and culture and new things to discover. It felt like being very very young again and discovering things for the first time. Ziel loved that thrill.

She did not, however, expect to find one of the Kahikians right at home in Matori. To say that Ziel was excited as a very big understatement. As soon as she had laid eyes on this new being she zipped right through the crowd towards her to introduce herself. She had so many questions she needed answers to and her boat wasn’t boarding until tomorrow.

“Hello!” Ziel said loudly, making sure to raise her hand so the other would notice her approaching. “I’m so sorry to bother you, you come from Kahikina right?” It was best to confirm before she blurted out anything else.

Amoe was surprised to see a smaller person coming towards her with a vigor and start blurting out things to her with her strange accent. The other people around her hadn't been near as forward or as excited that someone like her had been setting foot, but Amoe didn't mind one bit. She was possibly just as excited that someone looking like Ziel was interested in her.

"Oh, yeah, I'm from Pale'iko. It was definitely a hike to get this far." She scratched her shoulder and rubbed a hand through her now dry braid. She would probably need to find water soon. There was only so far she could make it on land before she needed to rest. "What are you?" She asked, her eyes firing up with curiosity. She had heard that these people call themselves earthlings, but the races were all a blur to her. She did know though that this girl (she assumed it was a girl) didn't look like anyone she could see around the town they were currently in. Most of them were blues and greens, and those that looked like travelers still didn't match up. She was a strange one. Amoe had leaned in slightly to almost inspect the shorter girl in front of her.

“I can imagine! I’m headed to Kahikina myself, looking forward to exploring your world.” Ziel rolled on the balls of her heels excitedly. She was so looking forward to seeing the sights, colors, smells... Everything! She loved discovering things.

“I am half shifter and half water!” She said happily, smiling wide. “Not your usual run of the mill full blood, but I think I look okay.” Ziel gave herself a once over, okay maybe not in her travel-worn clothing. However, when she did decide to dress up and such, Ziel thought she looked decent enough.

“Have you just arrived at the port? Do you need any help getting around?” She would have loved to ask the Kahikian some more questions especially since she was headed over there herself.

Amoe grinned widely and slammed a first down on her other hand like she had just solved a mystery. Ah ha! A hybrid. They had their own fair share of hybrids in Kahikina, but they were still rare. It made Amoe excited, everything was so new here. "Shifter and water, huh?" She had no idea what they even meant, but it didn't matter to her. "I'd say you look more than ok." Amoe laughed out.

"Yeah, and I don't really know where I'm going at all." She agreed to the girl's help and stuck her hands on her hips. "I'm Amoe. So where are ya taking me?" She offered with excitement.

“Aw thanks,” Ziel was pleased, at least she didn’t look like a wreck. At the next question, Ziel shrugged.

“I don’t know depends on where you want to go. Are you going to be traveling all over Tendaji or sort of staying around?” Since the Kahikians were sort of like fish people, they’d probably want to avoid Oba.

“You can have super cold weather from up in Zena to the hellish desert of Oba. Matori is so so, not cold but not super warm either.” Matori wasn’t only her favorite place because she’d grown up here and it was home, the weather wasn’t as bad as other places.

“In any case, back on track. If you need supplies I can show you the market, or if you need a palace to stay too.”

Amoe grinned wide as Ziel was describing all of the normally unappealing areas to someone who needed water to survive. "Well I don't know it it'll all work out, but I'm planning on going all over. Get all the adventuring out of the way and see everything. This place is so crazy." She exclaimed.

Tendaji was anything but what she had expected to find visiting a new world. "I guess I don't really need a place to stay here with all the ocean around, but some place to get some food would be great!" Amoe was so excited to explore, but she was also excited to taste. The foods had to be unimaginable to her.

“Well I think your place is crazy! Crazy exciting!” She hoped it would work out for her, she didn’t know much about the fish people but she’d heard something about being unable to go very far from water. That would definitely be an issue while she was in Oba, and how would that work in Zena? Snow was technically water, but it was frozen... Did they have frozen water where she came from? Just thinking about it, Ziel was excited to see all the sights of this new world herself.

“You mean you... Literally live in the ocean?” Ziel still couldn’t wrap her head around it all, she laughed. “Do you only eat fish and such? We could go to the fish market, but there’s als the regular market if you want to try some new things.” The hybrid motioned for her to follow. “You’re the first Kahikinan I speak to, so excuse my lack of knowledge.” Hopefully she’d do lots and lots of learning while she was over there. She wouldn’t be returning to Tendaji for a little while at least.

Amoe shrugged her shoulders. "Well I don't personally live in the ocean, the kaha'iko live in the rivers, but others do I guess." The freshwater felt better on her gills, but she had already been away from home so long that she was getting used to the rough saltwater.

"I'm not really sure what it is you all eat, but we don't have to just eat fish. I guess we eat a lot of it, but we go on land to get stuff too." She licked her lips at the thought of some food. "Just show me the grub. I would love to try new things." She fell into step with Ziel, her long legs taking such smaller steps than what she was used to. She wasn't used to having a tour guide, but it sure did make things easier now that she was fresh off the boat.

So, they lived in all manners of water? How intriguing. Ziel was going to have a lot of traveling ahead of her, minus anyone living in deep waters obviously. She was going to have to practice holding her breath if she at least wanted to see a bit more. She’d heard of some who could deep dive for a few minutes, she’d heard for as long as ten minutes as well. This would take practice though and time, perhaps she’d see if she could rent a boat. She’d never lived on a boat before, that would take some adjusting.

“Street food coming right up!” Ziel knew exactly where she’d be taking Amoe. There was a little vendor who grilled things over some charcoal and the juices would sizzle and seep right back into the meat. It came with a little sauce, but Ziel liked the pure taste.

The food market wasn’t as busy as usual, but it was also past noon and vendors were getting ready for dinner. Still, the air was filled with the smell of spices, herbs, stews, and meats cooking. Some stalls had grilled items, others dried goods. Ziel headed for the vendor she knew by name.

“Gerd, two please.” The matori smiled at her and got to work on their order. Ziel turned to Amoe.

“Gerd here makes some of the best grilled meat, nothing like it.” Turning, Ziel grabbed the extended skewers and held out one for Amoe. She herself was already biting into her own.

Amoe took one look at the offered skewer and her mouth watered. It looked juicy, perfectly seared, and smelled delicious. She grabbed a hold of the end of the stick and popped the end of it into her mouth, pulling the piece off of the rod.

Mmmmmm that was good. The meat was delicious.

"What kind of meat is this?" She asked off-hand, pulling the next bite of meat off and popping it into her mouth. The taste just got better.
