Coming Together

Solo Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750

Prompt
The past five years have continued to meld and mesh the lands of Tendaji. Where once tribes kept to their own lands, many were now seeing their colorful neighbors on a regular basis. While the cultures still stand, a welcoming sense of curiosity and openness has resulted in a peace across the entire region.

What have you done these past five years? Have you explored? Have you welcomed others? What has your story been and how have you grown in this new future of Tendaji?

This solo-only prompt is for you to explore the growth of your character these past 5 years in relation to the cultures of Tendaji. You must walk us through how your character's impression of the other races has changed or evolved, and how they've grown as a result.

Llyr sat at attention as he listened to the stories of the elders around him. One of his friends’ grandparents was talking about the changes they’d seen over the years. So far he was amazed at what all the old man had seen. Wars. New people. Flying ships. Lands discovered. All of it seemed like some kind of fairy tale that would be told during bedtime. His green eyes were glued to the man as he continued on. He was talking about the Oban war and how it ended and the result of the Matorian people being freed.

As a child born after such conflicts he couldn’t even begin to grasp at the importance of it. To know that a people as a whole had been slaves was interesting. Why had they not simply gathered together and resisted? Said no? When he and his siblings wanted to do something the others didn’t they usually just outnumbered the other. It was how you got your way. Mostly it was him and his brother going against his sister because he liked to pick on Skeena.
Another thing that he found himself wondering about was why just the Matorians. Why hadn’t the Obans taken other people as well? One or two didn’t count. If they had been powerful enough to take most if not all Matorians then they could surely take another race right?

The subject changed as a question came from another in the crowd that was listening. They wanted to know about the alkidike conflict. That got his ears perked up as he focused on the old man once more. His mother was part alk so he, naturally, had a curiosity for this. As it was explained Llyr grasped that there had been a difference of opinion that led to the split in the tribe. One side stayed where they were but the other side took their things and went elsewhere. Apparently that was where the new race came in.

It had been the result of the extremists. Some grey skinned alks or some such. Elaria is what the old man called them. Strange people. More so than a typical Alk. This made him curious about them. Llyr had seen a few stray Alks here and there but he’d never seen an Elaria. He thought his mother’s blue skin was pretty so he wondered if the grey skin of the Elaria was just as pretty. Was it similar to a shifter’s skin? Or a different shade? His little mind was full of questions, but he didn’t voice them. He didn’t want to miss anything!

Truly the boy thought that if he spoke up he’d direct the conversation off topic and then he wouldn’t hear the rest. So he simply watched and listened, eager to learn more about the past in the time before he was born. The details that emerged were amazing and he made a mental note to ask his parents where they were for each one. How cool would it be to know where his mother and father had been on those special days? Were they really little when it happened? Had they seen it?

The old man continued to spin his stories and this time it was mentioned that a flying ship had crashed! Crashed! Llyr’s eyes went wide. A normal shipwreck was amazing but a flying shipwreck!? Was it still there? Could he go see it for himself? Or had it been cleaned up? If it was still there how big was it? Could he find treasure there? The boy was practically bouncing in his seat as he continued to listen in.

Finally it was brought to his attention, as well as to the attention of anyone listening in, that an even newer land had been discovered. Some place or another called Kahikina. Llyr’s face split into a grin that stretched from ear to ear. So there was something monumental that happened in his life that he could tell his kids about one day! How exciting would it be to be able to sit just like this and tell the tales of his life and what he’d seen to a younger generation! He wondered what else might be seen in his lifetime. Maybe there would be another war. Something he could awe his peers with. He had the new land and race to brag about. Though he’d not seen them for himself. Perhaps when he was older he’d travel over there and take a gander, gain some storied of his own to share.
