It didn't seem like there was anything Narcissus could do, and it didn't help that he still wasn't entirely sure what was expected of him. It had been almost three months since he'd awakened as Narcissus of Rejection, but nothing had gotten easier, nothing made more sense, nothing became more certain. He knew many in his court spent the nights patrolling or gathering energy for Mirrorspace, but he just wasn't sure how helpful he could be in either regard...
Narcissus could patrol, but what on earth would he do if he found someone? The Dark Mirror Court were supposed to be aligned with the Negaverse, but they seemed to be the clear enemies here. Narcissus didn't want to just stand by and watch as civilians had youma sicced on them or their starseeds pulled... But neither was he capable of taking on an agent with their superior strength and speed or a corrupt with their more dangerous magic. The White Moon typically seemed to think of him as an enemy, but why would he try and fight them if they weren't doing anything wrong?
Especially with his own practically nonexistent magic.
Patrolling was not for him.
Even though it felt a little skeezy, he could try and gather energy for Mirrorspace. He'd been assured that anything he took from people could be recovered in a handful of hours, nothing permanent. And the energy gleaned from civilians helped make Mirrorspace just a little more livable, a comfortable haven for the Dark Mirror Senshi if something were to go amiss in the city.
Narcissus had no idea what that could mean, but he supposed it wasn't a terrible idea to make sure they had a safe space from the Negaverse or other spatial strangeness...
He kept to slightly more populated areas, places where if one of his victims happened to get a little woozy, someone would be able to find them and see them to safety. Narcissus didn't want to draw much attention to himself, on the off chance an agent or a White Moon was nearby, but he wanted to be quick. It wasn't in his best interest to be out here waiting all night for the right victim. His wraith flitted quickly through its target, passing back and forth in short bursts as it kept to the shadows, out of sight. Once full and glistening with energy, it returned to him, and no one seemed the wiser.
Narcissus tucked the shard away with a soft sigh of relief. He couldn't help feeling tense when the wraith was out. It wasn't a sturdy creature and not exactly invisible, either, especially after it was finished draining. But once it was back in the shard and out away, he was able to relax a little.

All Fomalhaut knew was that there was a funky Chaos aura out in the distance, and it needed to be chased off, lest there be dire consequences for the people in the area. Narcissus might very well have heard the called attack: "Ambition Above!" followed by a rapid set of footsteps as Fomalhaut charged him. She was going to tackle him or punch him or something. She'd know when she got there. Of course, it didn't matter that she'd gone through this crap with a Dark Mirror Senshi before, and somehow it still hadn't sunk in that the Dark Mirror Court and the Negaverse weren't quite the same type of Chaos. All she knew was "Chaos bad, make it go away." Quote: Sailor Scout Attack: Ambition Above! Fomalhaut clenches a fist, and a faint red aura surrounds either herself or a target within a 5 foot area. The target of this aura receives a small boost to the damage (impact) of their attacks, magical or physical; however, if the one with the aura attacks someone of a higher stage then them, the boost to damage will be greater and the attack will be more painful. The boost lasts for 25 seconds. This attack can be used 3 times.

With the worst of his night's chores out of the way, Narcissus was ready to head home. He still had work at the hospital tomorrow, so he probably shouldn't have come out tonight, but even he needed a break from study on occasion. Sitting and staring at his laptop and books for hours on end with only coffee as a companion made him fidgety and anxious and impatient and-
Sometimes he just needed to go out for a minute and do something else.
The Mirror Court gave him a reason to do just that, even if he wasn't thrilled about the 'how' of it. As long as he wasn't hurting anyone, it seemed okay. And it was late enough that he was hopeful most people on the receiving end of his draining were heading home for the night, anyway. This was fine. He could be content and feel accomplished by the night's activities with just this.
Narcissus felt an aura before he saw or heard anyone else, and he was becoming decently adept at deciphering what each 'feeling' meant. This one felt no more threatening than his did, though it certainly wasn't one of his court.
He knew that both members of the White Moon and Negaverse could be offended by his presence and attack on sight. He knew better than to stay in the vicinity of an unfamiliar aura, but he was already headed home. Narcissus didn't make any drastic attempts to quicken his pace. He wasn't doing anything at this point, so it felt like he shouldn't be too fearful... And then he heard the girl's voice.
Rationally, he recognized what the name of a senshi magic attack sounded like, and in the aftermath he'd think that he ought to have been prepared. But at the girl's shout, his body stiffened as he whipped around to look behind him, as if there was something else back there that she was attacking.
To the surprise of no one, there wasn't, and Narcissus turned back to shoot her a quizzical glance only to be smashed into by the force of her attack and sent crashing unceremoniously to the ground.
A strangled hiss of a sound formed on his lips, and it bubbled out as a yipped, "<********>" As he held one hand to his face and the other thrown out in front of him as if to ward off the deranged girl. "What are you doing!" He squawked, scrambling to sit up or scoot backward or anything that wasn't just 'lay there.' "Why are you attacking me? You- you hit me. I didn't do anything to you!"

A series of rapid-fire reactions flew through Fomalhaut. First off, she didn't expect her attack to land with that much force. Second off, this guy's reaction was concerning. She didn't know what she expected. He looked legitimately hurt and terrified, like she expected herself to look if a Chaos agent attacked her. Stepping back to shut down her momentum and taking a breath to slow down her heart rate some, she opened her mouth to speak, and it took a moment before words came out. "I, um... I'm sorry." She lowered her first and cast the Dark Mirror senshi a concerned look. She really did just hit a guy for no reason, just because his aura screamed Chaos. That was never something she thought she'd ever be capable of doing. "It's just... you're Chaos. What were you doing? Were you going to drain someone?" The assumptions felt stupid. "I'm sorry, there's no way," she murmured, increasingly unsure that she'd made a terrible mistake. This guy wasn't like the others at all.

Narcissus was still scrambling to put some space in between himself and the girl as she froze and looked at him with what he thought seemed like some combination of confusion and concern. She'd attacked him without pause, and he was still reeling from the blow, but his own gaze mirrored her confusion as she stalled before him. She'd listened when he'd asked her to stop? He inched backward, still rubbing at his jaw where the White Moon girl's fist had connected, but even he wasn't so blind as to not acknowledge the hesitance that had overtaken her.
He looked up at her warily. If it only took her a moment to become uncertain, it would only take another to become aggressive again. "I'm chaos," he agreed as his magenta eyes darted over her frame assessingly. The sting was abating a bit... Their powered bodies really could endure more and heal faster than their civilian ones.
Though he hadn't ever been punched in either, if he was being honest.
His fingers skidded over the line of his jaw, and powered or not, the tenderness spoke of bruising to come. Narcissus was practically pouting as his hand dropped back to his side, bright gaze accusatory and very slightly watery as he peered up at the girl. "You punched me..." He grumbled again. "I was just going home. It's easier to travel like this. I have to take the bus if I can't power up, and the trip takes an hour easily..." The thought flit through his mind to say nothing else. Nothing else needed to be said. But Narcissus wasn't apt at being deceptive. He didn't want to be, and he didn't want to leave her thinking there was 'no way' he'd be out doing what was expected of him.
And even though he looked up to look her square in the face, it didn't make his next words come out any more confidently. "I already did my draining for tonight. I was just going home." He leveled his gaze on her, teeth pinching together in something like determination, but he looked away quickly.
He couldn't even really be mad at her for hitting him. He was doing what he thought was right. But he supposed she was too. Narcissus sometimes underestimated how easy it was to forget that they were all just people trying to do what they thought was right and that disagreeing about it didn't always end favorably.
He rubbed at his arm, dusting away some of the small stones and grit that clung to his skin from where he'd fallen back. "I'm not sure it's any w-worse than jumping to punch someone, though."

He had affirmed that he was Chaos. In any other situation Fomalhaut might take into account that the other senshi knew what he was. But the story about traveling made her wonder. "You travel like this? I guess it has its perks, but aren't you worried about being attacked by anyone when you're like that?" Well, now he probably was. "You already did your draining... so I was already too late." Fomalhaut averted her gaze, shame warming her face. Shame for what? "I'm sorry," she repeated. "This shouldn't have happened. None of this should have happened." She shook her head and shifted her gaze in Narcissus's direction, still not looking directly at him. "When you drain someone... does it hurt them? What does it exactly do?"
