”Bastul!” She called out as she walked, using both hands to cup around her mouth so that she sounded louder than she was. Brexxa’s orange eyes scanned the beach for any sign of her dad’s familiar. He was no where to be found it seemed.
The little girl put her hands on her hips and huffed at that. Where in the seven seas could he have gone? It wasn’t like there was really anywhere to go. ”Come on boy!” She called out again, this time trying to appeal to the Zanteer to get him to come out of hiding. The beast wasn’t in trouble so she didn’t get why he was hiding. Unless he’d figured out that he was going to be left at her uncle’s place for a while. Then she didn’t blame the beast one bit for running off.
Not that her uncle’s house was bad. It just.. Well, it was boring. Her uncle had strict rules. Brexxa just knew Bastul would not like being told he wasn’t allowed to sleep in the bed. Poor thing might actually have to sleep on the floor all night. ”Bastul!”

He heard the shouting and had gotten curious, so Llyr had wandered away from the small area he’d been playing in to investigate. What he found was a girl several years older than him calling out for someone or something. He hugged close to a tree and watched her from the safety it provided. Llyr was still young and so he was still warned away from strangers and speaking to them, not that he was in any hurry to talk to anyone that wasn’t family anyways.
When the girl he was watching put her hands on her hips he chuckled. It reminded him of his mother, kinda. His sister too. Bringing one hand up he covered his mouth to hopefully keep the sound from reaching the matorian and giving away his position. It wouldn’t be any fun to spy if he was caught.

Brexxa had missed the boy the first time, not noticing he was there behind the tree, but when he laughed she heard it. Instantly her head spun around and she paused in her walk down the sandy beach to see who it was that had made the noise. When she noticed it was a little kid, younger than her even, she gave a small smile. ”Oh hey.. Have you seen a Zanteer run by here?” Her eyes glanced up and down the beach again, hoping to spot the beast as it did something.
When she didn’t see Bastul, even then, she sighed. ”Silly beast ran off..” The girl made a thinking face as she tried to come up with places that her dad’s familiar would go. Maybe he went fishing? Where would he go for that? Or maybe he wanted to go for a walk? How far should she walk? Too many questions and she didn’t have the answers.

Llyr was surprised when he was spoken to, caught off guard by the fact that he’d been found. His green eyes widened as he froze in place, body hugging the tree. He was very much a deer spotted by a hunter. Then the questions sunk in. The girl had asked him if he’d seen a beast go past. He gave it some thought before he slowly shook his head in answer. Not yet comfortable enough with her to speak he stayed silent. Watching.
He moved out from behind the tree just a little more when the Matorian said that the beast she was looking for had run off. While he didn’t voice a question he certainly asked one with his facial expression. Why would the animal run away? Had something happened? A bit of curiosity slipped into his features as he stared at her.

She caught the movement out of the corner of her eye and so returned her gaze to the little boy. Brexxa frowned when she noticed he had shaken his head in answer. So that meant that he’d not seen her dad’s beast. Unless the kid was being literal and wanted to say he’d seen one walk by but somehow she doubted it. That meant she was no closer to getting Bastul to go home so that they could continue on with their preparations to leave.
One hand came up and she scratched at her head before simply shoving her fingers into her short hair and ruffling it. ”Well if he didn’t come this way then maybe he went the other way..” That was reasonable, right? She turned on her heels to look back the way she’d come and scanned the beach again. Brexxa was hoping the search wouldn’t take her all day. There were other things she could be doing!

Llyr watched as she turned on her heels to look behind her. He’d not seen the beast there either but he figured he wouldn’t need to say as much since she had eyes to see with. When the girl just stood there, maybe lost in thought, he continued to watch her. What was she going to do? Did he care enough to ask?
As he thought about it he noticed movement in the water just beyond her. His eyes focused on that and he had to squint against the dancing light of the sun as it bounced off the waves. When he managed to make out the shape he saw that it was a Zanteer. And from the looks of it the thing was trying to sneak up on the girl. He watched for a while longer, wondering if he should point it out or let it scare her.

When she looked at the boy again she noticed he was squinting, but she couldn’t tell what it was he was looking at. So Brexxa thought it was her he was squinting at. She blinked a few times then looked down at herself. Was there something on her clothes? A bug or something? Maybe some dirt? She found nothing but she brought both hands up to brush at herself just in case.
When she looked back up at him she gave him a puzzled look. ”What? What is it? I didn’t see anything on me.” Or did the boy just think her clothes were odd? She was wearing a cute top, of course it was a little long on her but that didn’t mean anything. And then she had on capris underneath. So she was covered. Or was that the issue? Was it weird that she wore so much clothing? Brex shook her head, no. That couldn’t be it.

Her movement caught his eye and he switched to focus on her instead of the beast in the background. When she started to brush at herself he furrowed his brow and tilted his head. What was she doing? Had a bug landed on her? Was that her problem? Then she looked back up and asked him what was wrong. It took him only a second to figure out that she’d thought he was squinting at her. His mouth formed a small smile and he shook his head at her. Moving so that he was mostly hidden by the tree again he brought both hands up, one to brace himself against the bark and the other to shyly point behind her. It seemed he was going to give away the Zanteer before he could sneak up on the girl after all.

It was her turn to furrow her brow. The boy was pointing at her? No. Past her. Brexxa tilted her head slightly then turned so that she could look at what it was. When she looked she was first blinded by the sunlight bouncing off the waves, but then a certain blob move out of the water toward her. Brexxa had enough time to widen her eyes and shriek before Bastul pounced on her.
Both of them went down, Brexxa landing on her bottom in the sand as her dad’s familiar got her wet and licked her face in greeting. ”Ugh! Bastul!” She cried out as she half laughed at his antics. It appeared she should have looked in the water for the beast and she might have found him sooner. "Gah! Stop that!"

He watched the pounce happen from the relative safety behind the tree and gave a full laugh when the girl went down. Llyr thought it was funny to see the beast soak her with sea water as well as his own drool. Both hands now gripped onto the tree to keep him upright as he giggled at the scene. A snort happening once or twice as a result. It was all in good fun though. He could even tell the girl was having fun, despite being tackled to the ground by the animal she’d been looking for.

In the midst of being attacked with slobber she heard the boy laughing at her. Or with her. Either way she heard him and she grinned. ”Oh? Its funny is it?” Brexxa pushed at Bastul to get him to back off a little, of course his fur was slick with water so it took a few tries. ”Bastul… get him.” She pointed with one hand at the boy to show her family pet who to go for. ”Give him kisses!” And that was all it took to get the beast to leave her alone.
The Zanteer went right for Llyr but didn’t knock him over. Instead it half jumped up so that one paw was on the tree while he licked the boy’s face. Of course it ended up being the whole side of the little boy’s head, messing up his hair and causing it to stand up in places.

Once more his eyes went wide and before he could react the animal was there! His green gaze left Brexxa and went to Bastul just in time to get licked. He closed his eyes tightly and squealed once before his laughter continued. ”Ick..” He finally managed, his left hand coming up to wipe the side of his face and remove most of the drool stuck there. Llyr made a disgusted face as he looked at his hand then at the beast then finally at the girl again. ”Gross.” Of course his smile returned after to show he wasn’t really mad or upset.

When Bastul listened to her and went over to give kisses to the boy she grinned even more. Brexxa, of course, had to laugh when she heard the boys say ‘Ick’ and then ‘Gross.’ She nodded her head as she agreed with him verbally. ”Yeah, it is. And you thought it was funny when he did it to me.” She then reached up to wipe her own face as she settled down enough to remember to do so.
After a while she gave a small whistle to signal to Bastul that that was more than enough love for the boy. ”Come. He’s had enough kisses.”

Llyr suffered through the insistent slobbery kisses, all the while giggling and moving his face from one side to the other so that he might escape. One time he was sure the beast’s tongue went up his nose and he started to snort a bit more. When he was finally left along he coughed and sputtered as he leaned against the tree, catching his breath from laughing so much. ”Ah, gross. It’s in my nose.” Both hands came up to his face now so that he could wipe his nose as much as possible. A few huffs to try and get whatever was in there out and then he looked at the girl. ”At least you found him.” He said in regards to the beast.

”Yeah, I found him.” Brexxa gave a snort at that. It was more like Bastul had found her. Pushed her right into the sand and drooled all over her. Moving she got up to her feet and dusted herself off, spitting out any sand or weird taste she encountered in the process. There was bound to be some sand that stuck to her since she’d been soaked by the water feline upon his exit from the waves. ”Now I can take him home and we can get ready to leave.” She looked at the Zanteer and gave him a pointed look. ”He’s not too happy about being left behind this time around.” Which she could understand.
Her hand came out so she could pat the beast on the head lovingly. ”Are ya boy? No.” Brexxa shook her head in answer but smiled. ”It’s okay, you can keep Lochlyn company.” This time she gave a firm nod of her head before she looked up at the boy. Now that she’d found Bastul she didn’t need his help anymore. ”Uhm, thanks for helping.”
