Something of an epicurean, Miyamoto does not devote his full energies to politics, clashing with the orthodox virtues of his older relatives. However, beneath his easygoing attitude lays a wise man experienced in the ways of the world, a seasoned strategist, a compassionate soul, an incredibly powerful shinobi... And a very lonely man who would prefer to internalize his pain than to burden others with it. Although he appears hedonistic, Miyamoto's life philosophies are about living life to the fullest and choosing your own destiny. He is a firm believer that everyone has the power to create their own destiny. He appears laid-back because he understands that there are things in life outside of our control, but that we are responsible for the parts that we can. Perhaps his easygoing personality is attributed to his countless near-death experiences caused by his medical condition, and how he's been unable to control that aspect of his life. XXXXX ✦⋰⋰ Miyamoto is the eldest of five siblings, all females, his mother, and centennial-aged grandmother. His father, the previous head of the Senju Clan, died a little before his son was born. He unfortunately succumbed to the same nameless illness that would eventually afflict the future heir to the family's seat. Due to his condition, which primarily affected his lungs, Miyamoto suffered numerous fainting spells and asthma-like attacks, resulting in frequent hospital visits and weeks spent bed-ridden. Living with a medical condition was stressful for Miyamoto, who wished to live like children his own age: climb trees, pick flowers, go fishing, and dream about becoming genin when the time came. The belief that Miyamoto would one day be able to do these things became weaker and weaker with each day he was in bed, and with each day his condition didn't seem to improve. The only thing he had to keep himself entertained were the conversations he would have with his sisters and elder relatives, his late-father's old fūinjutsu books, his grandmother's calligraphy set, and his tiny rosemary garden he kept beside his window. Had it not been for the support of his loving, and somewhat overbearing, family coupled with his few hobbies, young Miyamoto would have surely fallen into an inescapable depression.

Luckily, with the advancement of medical ninjutsu and implementation of medicine designed to temporarily treat conditions similar to Miyamoto's, the child was eventually able to properly kick start his childhood at the age of 10 and begin his training as a genin. Despite being the same age as his peers, Miyamoto had a difficult time relating to the other genin assigned to his group because he never lacked much experience with having relationships with children his age, particularly other males. His fragility and touch of femininity made him taken less seriously by others, and at times the target of bullying from children outside of his squad. No one came to help him, not even his own teammates. The loneliness was painful, painful enough to forever keep him from burdening others with his, "Silly little problems" and accept the abuse from his peers throughout his genin career. He would not allow anything to get in the way of his success, and despite his circumstances, excelled during the chūnin exams. Following the exams, Miyamoto broke contact from his peers to pursue further studies into his father's fūinjutsu techniques. For a period of time, Miyamoto became completely isolated, solely focusing on honing his seal technique and kekkei genkai while simultaneously learning new ways to combine them and strengthen their power. Based on his experiences as a genin, Miyamoto concluded that he was not fit for the outside world, and would be destined to be a homebody, "Perhaps that is why I was cursed with this illness, because the universe knew I wasn't fit for the vigor of the outside world..."

Miyamoto's isolation concerned his mother, who used her connections to the Hokage through her position as wife to the late-head of one of the prominent Konahagakure clans, and asked if Miyamoto could shadow the great leader in hopes of getting him out of his shell. Since the Hokage was a fellow fūinjutsu master and a close friend of Miyamoto's father, he was more than willing to play the, "father" role to the young man. For some years, Miyamoto acted as the kage's protege and, "son" while at the same time learning more about his late-father's many accomplishments as a ninja, and how one day he could become just as great- if not, even greater. Miyamoto learned a great deal from the kage, not just about jutsu and battle tactics, but how to socialize with others outside of the hospital bed he used to be so accustomed to.

Thanks to the Hokage's intervention, Miyamoto's character began to improve. It showed through his newfound leadership ability and resourcefulness in familiar settings, something the once-house-bound man would have never dreamed to achieve. For the first time in his life, Miyamoto's outlook of his life began to change for the better. Despite his illness, Miyamoto had and continues to have faith that there is more to life outside his bedroom window. With the blessing of the Hokage, Miyamoto became an active member of his village through participating in missions, helping local farmers with their harvests, and assisting the kage during bijuu sealing rituals when need-be. Eventually, Miyamoto became something of a celebrity and a figure of compassion and joy. All of the genin who once bullied him became ANBU, chūnin, and fellow jonin who held great respect for him. That respect, talent, compassion, and budding optimism even in the midst of adversary is what made the young Senju the perfect candidate for jonin commander and eventually Ichiryu. Once Ichiryu, Miyamoto was practically attached to the kage's hip, and acted as a son would tend to his elderly father. He owed a great deal to the Hokage for allowing him to realize the great potential the world and himself had to offer, and wanted him to live peacefully before his retirement.

Unfortunately, the Hokage didn't get to retire. He passed away, peacefully in his sleep. This devastated Miyamoto, who once again fell into another pit of loneliness. However, he kept those negative feelings bottled up and helped to maintain his people's morale through such a difficult time by performing all of the kage's leftover tasks while everyone scrambled to find a new Hokage. In the midst of the madness, an advisor had found the Hokage's last will and testament. After a formal review of the documentation, it was determined that the Hokage had bequeathed his position to no other than his, "son," Miyamoto Senju, should he pass away. Miyamoto was reluctant at first to take the position because he felt undeserving of it, however he dared not question the logic of a man whose done so much for him.

Since then, Miyamoto has done his best to honor those who have sacrificed so much to get him to where he is today: From a sickly child too ill to even walk, to one of the youngest Hokages to lead the Hidden Leaf Village. At times the pressure can be overwhelming, and sometimes loneliness and illness creep their vengeful heads back into their lives. Before he could talk about his problems to the Hokage, but now that is he leader, he must keep a strong front to inspire others... Or everything will crumble down. "Suck it up, buttercup, right?"

This technique is a standard ninja skill which allows a ninja to summon an assortment of items that have been stored using fūinjutsu. Scrolls are the most common choice for item storage. When needed, the owner will activate the seals releasing their item or weapon of choice. Scrolls can also be used as ammunition for other weapons or have other seals inside of them, which expands the number of potential tricks a shinobi can use. Weapons are the most commonly sealed objects, with puppet jutsu also using this by having these hidden inside various compartments as a means of increasing their own killing potential as well as hiding useful weapons from the opponent's sight.

Minato used this technique to wrest the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox from Madara's control.

This jutsu is used to suppress jutsu-induced marks on a person. Marks of weaker power can be completely suppressed by this jutsu alone, but for marks of higher power like Sasuke Uchiha's Cursed Seal of Heaven, this seal is dependent on the recipient's willpower to some extent. It is also capable of holding back certain Kekkei Genkai, such as that of the Kurama clan as seen when Kurenai tried to do this. This seal requires a number of hand seals and a large amount of chakra to be performed. Preparation for this jutsu requires two concentric circles with kunai placed in intervals along the circumference, in addition to a number of characters written in blood that radiate out from the center of the curse seal. According to Kakashi, this jutsu is quick, but painful. The seal can be removed at any time by the caster or whoever the seal is on, as demonstrated during Sasuke's battle with Naruto in the Valley of the End. Since this seal does rely on the will of the individual on to whom its placed the affected may be able to just will it away without an unsealing jutsu. When Orochimaru was extracted from Sasuke through Itachi's Sword of Totsuka, not only was the Cursed Seal of Heaven removed, but also the Evil Sealing Method around it.

This jutsu produces a powerful seal that is used to block or disturb the flow of chakra in a target. Once the seal is completed, the target will become unconscious and unable to fight for a short time. Orochimaru performed this jutsu to tamper with the seal on the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. The original seal allowed the Nine-Tails' chakra to seep out into Naruto Uzumaki, but the additional seal disturbs this, preventing Naruto from using the Nine-Tails' chakra or even controlling his own chakra properly. This is because an odd-numbered seal creates an imbalance when placed on top of an even-numbered seal. When Orochimaru later notices that the seal has been removed, he remarks that there are very few ninja capable of doing so.

This technique affects the sense of smell to seemingly intoxicate the target. The user either releases several cherry blossoms into the area, or plants them on the target before the jutsu can be initiated. As the smell gets into the nose the jutsu must be activated, causing the target to see hundred or thousands of cherry blossoms floating in the air. They seemingly block out portions of the users vision, or aid in the "disappearance" of the user to completely confuse to opponent as well as make them feel slightly intoxicated. Of course there either must be a large quantity, or close proximity so the scent carries to the target, and not only is extra effective on those with heightened sense of smell but prevents tracking using smell as well.

After performing the needed handseals, the user will throw a rose like object on the ground. The rose's thorns will start to grow tremendously and and try to snatch the opponent. Seeing the rose grow, the opponent will try to escape, but will fail. The thorns grab the opponent and the thorns will continue to bind the opponent till it reaches the opponent's torso. must have: been attacked by an opponent with something deadly. This genjutsu only works while being attacked by an opponent with something deadly. The genjutsu uses the last attack and creates am image where the user fails to finish creating a jutsu in time making the attack look like a success and completely killing the user. The whole illusion is made to lure the opponent into a false sense of security for a sneak attack, or to make a hasty retreat if necessary.

This is a powerful genjutsu where Weeping Willows are summoned up through the ground and enshroud the area. As the wind slowly moves through the trees the long, hanging limbs of the Willows move slightly to help prepare the trance effect. Then a sound is emitted that causes a distortion in the mind/minds of the target/targets that causes them to see themselves being hung, by the throat, by the limbs as the rest of their body is restrained by other parts of the branches. A technique which enhances the targets gravity at the user's discretion. The enemy's mobility is diminished, as the person is crushed by gravity — and in some cases exhibit petrification-like symptoms and then began to crumble. Using a desert region to their advantage, the user can easily bury the enemy alive by submerging them in sand. When this technique is applied to the user it decreases their speed, but the increased weight drastically improves their strength. This method makes it possible for even a weak person to land a devastating hit.

Contrary to its counterpart, this technique reduces one's gravity, making it much lighter. The atmosphere, along with their body, can be lightened in order to take flight and increasing their maneuverability. With enough practice, the user can control their flight through the sky with specific bodily movements. However, a consequence of using this technique on oneself or another individual is a decrease in the physical force of the affected person's attacks. Ōnoki, who possessed a mastery over this technique, was able to also manipulate the weight of other targets. By touching his target, he could instead take their gravity away and regulate just how much is taken.

By flowing concentrated chakra from one's palms into the Dragon Veins (龍脈, Ryūmyaku) flowing underground, one can tear the earth apart, creating large chasms. The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are shaped and fashioned by the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.

With chakra work and superhuman strength, Jirōbō lifts up the very surface of the Earth. The lump of earth is gigantic, guaranteeing its destructive power. But even just the visual impact can be enough to make enemies lose their fighting spirits and run away. The ball of earth is then hurled at his opponent, flattening everything in its path.

This technique coats the users body with stones, making them much more resistant to attacks, at the cost of some speed. While using this armor, the stone layer can be manipulated to form blunt weapons for stronger attacks. One can also change their appearance with the stone layer. It also seems that this armor is heavy and makes the user less quick, as seen when Sadai took the armor off and immediately increased his speed.

The user flows chakra through all parts of their body causing it to become noticeably darker, which increases their defensive power to its utmost limits by making the skin as hard as diamond, easily capable of withstanding most attacks with little to no damage. As a result the amount of techniques that can break through the areas hardened by the Earth Spear are close to zero, excluding its undeniable weak point: Lightning Release ninjutsu. Furthermore, the destructive power of physical attacks is increased, making this a great all-purpose technique. Kakuzu demonstrated the ability to use this to cover himself partially (i.e. his hand and lower arm, and the side of his head) without using hand seals, which gave him a significant tactical advantage against ambushes.

This technique grants the user the ability to freely lower or raise the terrain within a specific area surrounding them, in a similar manner to its parent technique, albeit on a much larger scale. Boiling, and pressurization of water are included in these studies. Boiling includes the creation of steam by further putting chakra into the water. The user cannot perform these tasks on larger bodies of water with this basic study alone. Furthermore, by learning to draw water from the moisture in the air, the shinobi can use water techniques without requiring a source of water nearby (unless stated otherwise.) A Kage level jutsu always requires a water source, even if the Mist-nin in question creates it first.

The width of the water source, waterfall, and basin can be expanded as long as the user continues to send chakra in.

The user erases their presence, causing them to have neither a physical form nor detectable chakra while the technique is active. They cannot be detected through traditional means. Mū's mastery of this technique helped earn him the moniker "Non-Person" (無人, Mujin, Viz: Null Man). This technique utilises water vapour to bend the light around the user making use of Water Release to do so, enhancing its effects from the Hiding with Camouflage Technique.

This is for use in areas with little or no water. The object of this jutsu is to bring water to you. By performing a number of seals, and focusing ones chakra into the ground, water within a given area, depending on ones chakra strength and water control, will be condensed and begin to form clouds. Once this is complete the clouds then proceed to the selected area, causing a down pour bringing the water to the user. There must be at least some water in the immediate area, and this technique does take a while, so it is hard to bring a sufficient amount in a short time, unless one has the element of surprise.

The amount of water used will be in proportion with the user's skill.

This technique utilizes the power of the Wood Release to forcibly suppress a tailed beast's chakra. The user would produce the seal "seat" (座) on their palm, and touching the tailed beast's chakra with their hand, the user then suppresses the chakra inside an area lined with ten or eleven wooden pillars. Taking advantage of the innate properties of Wood Release which allows the user to force trees to grow on any surface in an instant, the user creates a dense forest of flowering trees. During the forest's formation, the user can have the branch restrain any target(s) that tries to attack the user before the formation of the forest is complete. The pollen produced by these flowers is then released into the atmosphere and when inhaled, renders any afflicted target unconscious. The user can also control where the pollen spreads so it does not affect them nor their comrades. The pollen is also capable of penetrating Susanoo's defences. With enough willpower, it is possible to regain consciousness. However, in order to counter the technique fully, either the trees themselves must be destroyed completely or the target must continue to remain elevated above the dispersed pollen.

A technique designed to be used to absorb a tailed beast's chakra. The user produces the "sit" (座, suwaru) kanji on their palm and creates a series of wooden pillars, which are engraved with what resemble foo dog faces and have lit wicks on top of them. When the user slams their palm on the ground, the wooden statues rush towards the target and absorb its chakra.

This improved version of the jutsu can suppress a demons chakra completely regardless of what stage of release it is in.

After forming the required hand seals, the user creates an enormous statue-like creature out of wood. This humanoid creature with a full body and an oni-like face is usually created with a wooden dragon wrapped around its torso, and is generally used in battle as an avatar. The wooden dragon can be multiplied and be used to attack its enemies directly as well. This creature is stated to be as powerful as the Nine-Tails, and could catch an uncompressed, uncharged, standard Tailed Beast Ball fired by the latter. If the user doesn't have enough time to manifest the entire body, they can manifest a limb or two first to buy enough time for the full body to form. It could even clash against the likes of Madara Uchiha's Complete Body — Susanoo, which was stated by Madara himself to have destructive powers rivaling even the tailed beasts. In the anime, it is capable of spawning multiple Wood Dragon heads, each capable of self-destructing.
