It had been a while since she had last been in the city, a while since she had last seen her apartment - but whilst she was finally back in Destiny City after several months away working undercover for the Negaverse, her apartment was going to have to wait just that little bit longer–
Because she had an appointment, or rather Reinerite had an appointment, in addition to one last report to turn in.
It held the conclusion to all of the previous reports that had been sent over the months when she had been away, the cumulative sum of all her efforts over the months spent lying low and gathering information for the Negaverse–
And whilst the mission had been longer than Reinerite had thought it would be, it had been such that she had needed to be sure - more importantly the Negaverse had needed her to be sure.
Reinerite made her way to Negaspace and then to the requested office, doing her best to ignore the tiredness that clung to her as she knocked politely at the door and waited for the office's occupant to acknowledge her presence.

Axinite had been at his desk working on paperwork, as was fairly common for him at this time of day. His door was usually open, as it was now--a constant invitation to anyone that might require assistance or direction, or who perhaps simply wanted to grab whatever baked good he'd brought to share. When he heard the knock he lifted his head; there seemed to be perpetual circles under his eyes but he smiled. "Reinerite!" he greeted immediately; he had the luxury of studying files and considered himself fairly good at matching names to faces. "It's been a while! Congratulations on your return, welcome home!" He rose to greet her and ushered her in, pulling out a chair for her. "Please, come have a seat. Did you just get in?"

"General-King" Reinerite said quietly in answer to the greeting, straightening already straight shoulders, a polite note in her cool voice as she gave Axinite a respectful nod.
She waited until directed before stepping into the office and, despite her tiredness, would have stood if the General King had not asked her to take a seat.
"Thank you General-King" she said, in answer to his congratulations on her return, her shoes tip-tapping quietly on the ground as she walked over to the indicated chair, doing her best to ignore the scent of baked goods that reminded her that her last meal had been quite a while back - Negaverse business first and then when she was finished and finally back at home then perhaps she would pick up some takeout.
Reinerite nodded again, a smaller one, as she continued "Yes I got back today and came immediately," pausing by the chair as she pulled out a file "This is my final report."
She held out the file to Axinite, waiting for him to take it.
Only then would she take the offered seat before absently crossing one leg over the other.

Axinite offered a courteous smile, obviously pleased with her good manners and general demeanor. He accepted the report and settled into his seat, flipping through it. While he was only skimming, he nodded approvingly. "Thorough, as always. You make me very proud, Reinerite. I can't wait to read this in full. Tell me, have you put any thought into joining a branch? ...I have to say, you would be a valuable asset to the Information Branch. You've already more than proved yourself in my mind." He paused and gestured to the snacks on his desk. "Please, help yourself. I know it must have been a long journey. Would you like something to drink? I have some tea, just brewed. A few energy drinks, as well. Or soda. If you tell me what you like and I don't have it, I'll make sure to have some in stock for next time."

"Tea would be lovely thank you," Reinerite said, her lips quirking up in a small smile as she admitted "Whilst Destiny City is my home, I admit that I'll probably always be more of a tea drinker than a coffee one - even if I do appreciate a good latte."
The smile faded as she took a couple of biscuits "I just wish that my news was better news" because there was really no point in beating around the bush "The rumours about there being a rouge agent was correct" her voice had cooled on the words rouge agent, Reinerite personally having no time for would be traitors "I have laid everything out in the report."
Her suspicions, her reasons for suspicions and - most damning - the photos that she had managed to obtain that backed up her suspicions.
At the question about whether she had considered a branch yet, Reinerite nodded, "I was actually going to submit a request to join the Information branch" she admitted, although after receiving the mission it had been something that she had decided to leave until the mission's conclusion as the mission had taken priority. "And I had an additional request - that is if I may?"
She bit into one of the biscuits as she waited for a response, adding "Thank you for the biscuits - they are really delicious" and she wasn't trying to flatter because they really were very tasty.

Axinite reached for the tea, effortlessly pouring her a glass and sliding the cup over. He made one for himself and settled back into his seat. "Oh, thank you. I've had a lot on my mind, recently. I bake when I can't sleep." It was a strangely human confession, from a General King. He sipped at his tea and offered another polite smile. "Not all news can be good, I'm afraid. But don't fault yourself for that. I didn't get a chance to look it all over, but your research has been superb. I'll finish going through it later. But I have to say, it's a bit of a relief to hear that you're interested in the Information Branch! It saves me from having to do the recruitment speech I've prepared. You'd be welcome here, of course." There was no fabrication of admiration in his voice; he was visibly proud of what she had accomplished and wanted to encourage that behavior. "I think you've earned a request. Please, anything you like."

It was hard to picture the General King in front of her doing something as mundane as 'stress-baking', but neither was Reinerite going to comment on it–
It wasn't her place to.
Instead she murmured her thanks as she daintily reached for the offered cup and sipped at the contents.
There was something almost refreshing about tea, in a way that she'd found that coffee (nice as those lattes were) couldn't quite match.
Reinerite had taken another sip of the tea, after eating the biscuit as she waited to see if her request would be granted, but set the cup carefully down once said permission was granted.
"I've been thinking on how best I may be of use to the Negaverse" she said "And as part of that I would like permission to set up a small group."
She paused for a moment before continuing "The purpose of the group would be to attempt to catalogue Order magic - and to that effect group members would work in pairs with one member seeking to actively engage Order members in fights with the aim of getting the target to use their magic and the other member would aim to observe and make a note of said magic for the database."
Another brief pause "I am happy to work under a general for the team, should the team be something that I am permitted to do, but I thought it would be a way to bring in up-to-dste field time data for the database."

Axinite watched her for a moment as he listened; his eyes were intent and his gaze was unwavering. Despite his gentle demeanor, there was something about the look that hinted there was more to him than just cookies and tea. "I think that's an excellent suggestion. It could be very helpful identifying which senshi are the most threatening--and which have the most potential with us. As expected, already participating as a valuable member of the Information Branch! Though, it is true, a General should head the team. That's a big project, and you'll want someone with the power to step in if something were to go wrong. But," he smiled at her. "I don't really see the need to bring someone else in. Why don't we just set you up for the position? It's your project, after all. And you've got a beautiful record. You've made me proud, made the Negaverse proud. What do you say?" He sat up a little straighter. "...Are you ready for a promotion?"

For a moment Reinerite looked visibly startled.
It was true that she had no intention of remaining a Captain forever, Reinerite was ambitious and had no issues with admitting it, however she hadn't come to Axinite's office to chase a promotion and her request to set up a team had been just that - a request.
A moment and then she composed herself, her calm expression reimposing itself as she sat a little straighter herself "Yes" and it was an answer to both of Axinite's questions - for whilst she was ambitious, she had also worked for it–
And if she couldn't quite hide the excitement in her grey eyes then hopefully Axinite wouldn't fault her for it.
"I won't let you or the Negaverse down."
The simple words were a promise.

The eagerness of her posture, of her eyes, only made Axinite smile. Wanting something made the promotion hurt a little less. At least, he liked to think so. It didn't feel like torture when there was something glorious at the end of it. "I know you won't. But I have no doubt you remember what it felt like the last time you were promoted." He was always prepared for these things. There were sugar laden baked goods already on his desk, and while he had offered her tea, he drew an extra energy drink from the mini-fridge he kept behind his desk. An orange joined it on his desk and he stood, walking around the table. "You can sit or stand, if you like." He reached out a hand to rest on her chest and watched her face, letting her settle into whatever position was most comfortable. "Say the word and I'm ready. We'll get this taken care of and go over the details, either now, or tomorrow if you need to rest." A tiny surge of Chaos danced at his fingertips, ready to slip into her; he waited only for a signal that she was prepared for him to begin.

Reinerite did.
Remembered how eager she'd been, how hungry - and she remembered the pain - pain that had shaped her and made her stronger.
"I remember" she said softly–
And ir had seemed right that she stand for something so important. She had been standing when Aurostibite had first inducted her into the Negaverse and as she had been standing when she had been promoted to Captain. That she stood now only served (at least in her mind) to complete the circle.
A determined note slipped into her voice "I remember and I am ready."

Axinite had given her a moment to prepare. He had her consent. He nodded, acknowledging her words, and then his fingers dipped into her chest. It was like a hot knife through butter for him, but he had done so many of these that it was simply second nature. And yet, for as fast and uncaring as he could have been, he took the time to be as gentle and swift as possible. He took her starseed into his hand and pushed chaos into it in a steady, rapidly increase pace. He did not make her suffer. There was always pain, but he had always been able to justify it as a necessary evil. She was strong, though, and he pushed the power into her starseed until it could take no more, and then he eased it out. Axinite kept one hand on her shoulder, steadying her before she could need any assistance. He looked at her and nodded approvingly. "How does it feel, General?" he asked, when he was certain she'd had enough time to collect herself.

Reinerite had expected pain and had done her best to brace for it–
Tried, a pained gasp escaping her lips despite herself before she could quite bite it back as the chaos pushed into her and burned.
It may have been but a few moments, but those moments seemed to stretch forever as the chaos did its work and made her stronger - and then it was over, taste of copper on her tongue from where (at some point) she must have bitten her lip.
Reinerite swayed slightly on her new heeled boots, the weight of cool grey fabric at her shoulders fluttering–
But Axinite was there to steady her, as the Negaverse's newest General forced her shoulders straight, ignoring that small voice that said that she would probably end up paying for it later.
She didn't care, a small but genuine smile curving her lips at Axinite's question, the adrenaline giving her a temporary boost - at least for now.
"Good. It feels good" a heartfelt note creeping into her voice momentarily as she added quietly "Thank you."

He accepted her answer and nodded. "I'm proud of you. As always, you exceed expectations. But now is not the time to push yourself. Here. Sugar helps," he said, gesturing towards the treats on his desk. He drew out an energy drink of her as well. "And this, just to keep you going. I have orange juice as well." In some ways, the General King might have seemed no different than a mother hen--only, he had the strength and skill to be imposing, even if he chose not to be at the time. "I'll want you to get home and rest, soon, of course. But your body is no doubt adjusting, and if it is sore, I don't want you pushing yourself. I can take you home if you need, or you can rest here for a bit."
