He'd met Pages, he'd met senshi like him and he'd met agents alike... But he had been warned that he hadn't met every type of senshi that existed in this world. More curiously, he hadn't even met all of the senshi types from his own order and that had him puzzled.

...Beyond power levels, what else could be different?

So far his evening had been relatively quiet and he was now looming ominously over the flat roof of a building to peer out towards the parklands and beyond. Evidently in the next few evenings he was going to have to change his regime, that included his routes, and perhaps even his method of hunting. Nevertheless for this evening's duties he would remain as he was and re-evaluate his methods when he returned home later.

At the very least a quiet evening afforded him the opportunity to ponder, to muse, and to absorb what information he had slowly been gathering as he came to terms with what he was. Valuable as it was, it was a lot to take in and it would have come at no surprise that he had become somewhat lost in his own thoughts, affording only a fraction of the attention he probably should have been paying to the world around him.

Unfortunately, the result of him being less aware of his surroundings than he should have been did leave him rather exposed to assault, particularly when from a distance he didn't look that friendly on his current perch!

Lepus was out and about doing her usual thing, which was, to say, nothing productive, depending on who asked... not that Lepus would agree with any opinion that didn't justify her actions. Tonight, she was on a mission, though it could be argued that every night was a mission night, and a special one, at that. An important mission, that was very personal to Lepus.... though yet again, that could be said for pretty much any of the excuses she made up for sneaking out at night (and sometimes skipping school during the day).

Through some supernatural force or another, a curse had been laid upon Lepus' guardian cat, Etoile. While this wasn't the first time such a thing had befallen her Mauvian companion, this was kinda the first time it hadn't really resolved itself after a few hours or so... so the teen was kinda scratching her head on how to proceed. Well, usually in jrpgs, they were dispelled by defeating whatever had caused it in the first place, right? SO, obviously, she just needed to find some youma or nega officer or something evil-looking enough to beat up, and...

Well, she hadn't really suuuuuper thought out her plans beyond that point. Improv and spontaneously leaping into action tended to be her modus operandi these days, after all.

Traveling among the rooftops, Lepus was scouting for any possible baddies that needed taken care of, when the presence of another aura stopped her short. It didn't necessarily seem like an enemy one- she'd grown to tell the difference by now- but on the other hand, sometimes you never knew, and maybe she was just kinda hoping to get to fight?

"Oiiiiii!" she called out, wondering if she was close enough to be heard, "Who goes there?"

His reverie was shattered when her voice did reach him, he wasn't completely out of range for it and as such, he turned round briefly towards where it had come from. It had been just out of place enough to knock him out of his own musings and while he couldn't see her immediately he did detect a distinct aura that was quite like his own - well sort of, he was getting better at differentiating but he remained mindful of the fact he still hadn't met 'everything' yet.

Pursing his lips, the older senshi leapt upwards and hopped across a small number of rooftops to find the sources... and when he did, well, his expression was probably a worthy picture.

It was a kid.

"Aren't you out a little late?" He didn't make a secret of his location, it wouldn't help to spook anyone in the given circumstances. Consequently he would have been quite easy to see as he settled one the same rooftop as Lepus and placed his hands on his hips.

"In a costume no less," he added with a raised brow, before he had a moment to double-take and frowned. Hold up, wasn't this the order signature he'd been detecting. In a kid? Sure she wasn't exactly a toddler but she was still far too young to be thrown into a war. Unsurprisingly his features soon transformed into something wholly unimpressed, that was through no fault of her own, but no one would have blamed her if she didn't pick up on that part of the unspoken musings.

Evidently, he'd never met a 'Chibi' before.

Ugh, the level of disrespect coming from this other senshi, the audacity, even, talking to her like that. This was one of the many reasons adults tended to be useless, aside from her own family problems, Lepus felt- in the almost seven years she'd been a senshi, the amount of older folk who constantly treated her like this was too high.

'Aren't you out a little late?' 'Where are your parents?' 'Little kids shouldn't be out this late at night,' and other similar questions had been asked over the years, and frankly, Lepus was tired of it. Sure, she hadn't exactly hit that fabled growth spurt that was supposed to happen in one's teen years, but she was pretty confident she looked enough like a high schooler, in spite of her petite stature, for it not to matter.

"I don't have a curfew, and even if I did, I'm not telling," Lepus retorted, mimicking the hands on hip gesture, as she tried to look somewhat unimpressed and intimidating, "I'm a senshi, anyway."

So she didn't need any adults telling her what to do.

"I can see that," he replied thinly, a reference to the fact she was a senshi.

If he found the Mauvian that was unlocking the potential of senshi this young, order or otherwise, he was going to flay the damn thing alive. Regardless of how Lepus might have felt, there were some things that did not sit well with Athalia and recruiting child soldiers into a war was the epitome of sickening. Hell, even sixteen was far too young in his opinion but given that parents could co-sign their kids in to the military at that age he could at least grit his teeth and accept that.

How did one deal with a child soldier that knew nothing other than, well, this? The fact her parents had absolutely no idea where she was at this time of night was an entirely different issue that he didn't have the capacity to deal with yet, but as overall opinions went... It was safe to say that Athalia wasn't in favour of what she was or the circumstances she found herself in.

...But it was what it was, she had been woken up, she was now a soldier.

"What makes you think you're able enough to be out here?" he asked at last. Fine, he wasn't exactly incredibly powerful himself but he had a wealth of experience just by grace of age that she didn't necessarily have. Excluding the fact he was built like a tank and she was a sinewy thing, he looked more able than she did... But maybe she'd surprise him.

Either way, it was pertinent to check.

If she needed to be frog-marched back home by the end of this then he'd find a way to do that!

Sometimes, when Lepus was in better moods and happier times, she'd be more willing to talk this out with the other party, maybe gain a new contact along the way. She'd done this a few times already over the years, even forming some sort of weird shaky sort of 'friendship' (if it could be called that) with some chaos-aligned folk. Athalia, however, was getting on her nerves, and Lepus found herself running out of patience and willingness to not get into a huge argument over this.

Just who was he to try telling her what to do, anyway?

"I've been doing this for a pretty long time now, so I'd say I'm able enough," the teen shot back, unable to hide her frustration at the other senshi, "In fact, I bet I've been a senshi longer than you have!"

Actually, she had no way of knowing that, truth be told, especially given that Lepus always tended to do her own thing rather than get involved with the major ongoings, but on the other hand, well. She'd been a senshi for nearly seven years now, so there was a good chance that maybe she'd have a good year or two or three on him.

To be fair to Lepus she was right, she had been a senshi for a significantly longer time than Athalia. However, when it came to the adult's general state of mind, a child should categorically not be out fighting things that could snuff them out of existence at such a young age. She could have been the world's greatest fighter and he still would have held the same view.

...There were some things in life of greater value of him, and a child was most definitely one of them. Now, if she wanted to start fighting again when she was older then he certainly couldn't stop that, but while she still had so much to learn and experience, war was something he really didn't agree with!

"If that's the case," he shook his head, her tone indicated she wasn't about to put up with him and she had a very strong personality. In an argument he would have bet on her through the sheer stubbornness she seemed to have, although that might just be because she was speaking to him.

"Then prove it," he held out his hand and beckoned towards her. If she was genuinely able to look after herself then she'd be able to do some damage to him. If she could do that, then he'd shut up.

...Didn't mean he would agree with her being what she was, but he would concede defeat.

Finally, they were making some progress, or at least, that was how Lepus interpreted it. Maybe it wasn't really supposed to be like that, but to the teen, it seemed like he was finally willing to listen, in a way. Well, perhaps not so much as listen, but...

If he was going to challenge her, Lepus would certainly rise to the challenge! She was very good at that, after all. Got her in trouble a lot, but she was very good at that, too.

"Gladly," she said, and immediately moved to close the gap between them, ready to land a punch like the way she was taught.

Wow, she was a fast one wasn't she?

Athalia was impressed as she shot towards him, both by her bravery and by the fact that she had form. He was taken by surprise to a degree and that would have been enough for her to land her blow, granted he did lift his hands to absorb the bulk of the impact but there was little he could do to dodge or deflect this particular attack.

Heck, if she was this quick on her feet normally then she probably did take people by surprise. Had she been a little older he would have been delighted to find another Order senshi who had some combat training, as it was though, he remained distracted by the fact that if she'd picked this form up now, it meant she'd been doing this for a while.

"Not bad," he said from behind his arm, a small smile on his lips.

"But you still have to do a little more to prove you can handle yourself," he added and took a breath. "If you can get passed my shield I'll say I believe you," he finished and bounced nimbly back to give himself some distance. Admittedly there was no guarantee this would even work for him, his reliability when it came to his own senshi powers was not the best at the moment, but if she was smart enough to get passed this little trick then she was smart enough for him to stand down.

...And oddly, he was suspected she just might be smart enough to do that.

"Herculean Shield!"

Merurulince
Hell nah, she's great! xD Teenager slapping Atty in the face is exactly what he needs!

Senshi Power - Herculean Shield
    Sailor Scout Attack: Herculean Shield
Radius: Self (Personal Buff, 180 Radial)
      Duration: 25 Seconds
Limitations: This shield can be hard to break for other basic stage characters, moderately breakable by 2nd stage characters and easily breakable by 3rd stage characters. This shield will fall much more quickly in a concentrated attack by numerous opponents regardless of their rank.
Number of Casts: 3 Times per Battle
      Full Details:
Athalia draws upon his source to shield himself from the next barrage of assaults. In calling out to the source, he erects two large, ethereal scarab wing carapaces to shield incoming damage.

This carapace will protect him from significant damage for the duration of the ability, ensuring he can weather significant damage before it's necessary to retreat; any allies that take cover behind him will be shielded for the duration of the assault.

The shield is no more than 7ft high and 6ft in diameter at any given time.

This ability can be countered by flanking Athalia as it's radius is a frontal 180 cone; his back remains exposed.

A shield? “That’s cheating,” Lepus complained, but nonetheless, rose to the challenge. Any kind of magical shield usually had some kind of weak spot, if video game taught her anything (aside from how much she loved jumpscares). All she had to do was wail on it a bit, right? She’d put a crack in it sooner or later.

On the other hand, if he was going to fight dirty like this, she could too. Abandoning her beat down on the shield for a moment, Lepus dropped her arms to her side and shrugged.

“I unno, I guess I’m just not going to convince you, then...” she began, a devious look crossing her face, “If only it didn’t have to be this way!”

It was time to fight fire with fire, right?

Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: This way!

Much like the first attack, Lepus tricks her opponents into chasing after a fake Lepus. This time, however, there's two of her- who go running into opposite directions; no matter which one her opponents choose to chase after, the two fake Lepus will ultimately meet back up with each other and merge into one Lepus, which then turns into a bunny that disappears, once her opponents get close enough, leaving her opponents confused and possibly disoriented. This lasts for thirty seconds, and can be used twice.

Was it wise to argue with a child? He had begun to weigh this up in his mind as she wailed on his shield. Fortunately it had been working well (for once) and it was holding steady. Alas, while his magic had obeyed him on this occasion it really did seem like his concerns were unfounded when it came to Lepus - when brute force hadn't worked she'd leapt away and -

Had she just cloned herself?

He wasn't sure what had happened, he was immobile with his shields up as it was, but he hadn't been aware of the fact that any senshi could do that. Sure, agents had teleported before, but split in two? It hadn't even dawned on him that it might be an illusion, he'd been taken by surprise and thoroughly distracted by the magic, he was left completely exposed.

If she'd managed to get behind him by now, she was guaranteed her strike.

...And he would be forced to admit he had been bested!

Fighting against a stationary target was a new thing for Lepus, but modern problems require modern solutions, or something like that. Magical shields usually had a weakness or two, and while she could have simply just continued to punch it until it broke, Lepus had one other trick up her sleeve.

(Well, one other trick, aside from the decoy distraction and all.)

With Athalia distracted, Lepus took the opportunity to take advantage of the confusion, sneaking behind him. There were a few cool catchphrases she could have recited, to make herself look even cooler than she already was (which was plenty!), but she opted instead for a spur-of-the-moment decision to... aim a jump kick as a sneak attack, like the kinds she had seen in fighting games.

Hyper Megaton Kick!

(It wasn’t an actual attack of hers, but rabbits were supposed to be good at kicking, so this made it legit, right?)

Epine de Rose
lepus’ combat training beyond punching is mostly self taught (bc ladies do not fight and her mom would have a conniption if she signed up for martial arts lessons) so take this as u will lmao

Well shi -

Smack!

He hadn't had time to react and that was entirely his fault, to her credit Lepus had outsmarted him and managed to get behind him just like she needed to. With him entirely exposed she had landed a fairly solid kick to the back of his head and left his ears ringing a bit. He had the discipline not to stumble but he couldn't prevent himself for blinking rapidly as he deliberately took a few steps away from her and turned round to inspect the younger senshi.

He was impressed and his expression would have given that away, sure he was also a touched pained, but there was an appreciation there. Lepus had put her money where her mouth was and proven that when it came to age, he could be concerned but there were actually those around him that stood a chance of looking after themselves.

"You're not half bad," he conceded with a wry smile.

"Might need to work on the angle of your kick a little more though," he added with a soft chuckle. "Catch someone wrong and you might hurt your ankle," he warned, though at this stage his tone definitely seem to be one of criticism, it just seemed to be intended as some genuine advice.

With his remarks made though he did wince and lift his hand to rub at the base of his skull, he wouldn't be surprised if he had a boot shaped dent to be honest.

“I’m the best,” Lepus declared, in that sorta smug satisfactory kind of way. She was pretty proud of herself for figuring that one out- who’d have thought she could use her magic for that sorta purpose? Usually she just watched people chase after the decoys and laughed at their frustrations at finding out they were being duped.

“That shield thing was kind of cheating, but I guess you’re not half bad, either,” she continued, with a frown, “But just you wait and see, old man- I’ll get even more powerful, and then you’ll be even more in awe of my skills!”

Lepus was, maybe, getting a little ahead of herself, and tilting ever slightly closer towards the edge of her chuuni persona slipping out, but she really did have that much confidence in her own abilities to take him on and win again. She didn’t explicitly say it, but Lepus certainly wanted a rematch if she ran into him again.

His brow rose, though mostly out of amusement and a distinct appreciation for her enthusiasm. She was what he expected from a teenager, full of fire and determination. The only difference between Lepus and other teenagers was that she happened to have the capacity to actually put some force behind her words. Admittedly, she had bested him fairly soundly on this one and he would put that down to his considerable naivety regarding other magic but...

"Strategy, not cheating," he pointed out with a shake of his head.

He'd let the 'old man' slide more now, but she seemed rather intent to have another opportunity to teach him a lesson. Had he unintentionally made himself a rival? It seemed likely in the given circumstances and he wasn't entirely sure it was a bad thing either. In a roundabout way it would be good to keep an eye on Lepus's skillset and even though she might not appreciate it, make sure that she was ready for whatever was thrown at her!

Not that she needed to know about that bit though, eh?

"Trust me the next time we see each other I'll have more tricks up my sleeve," he continued and shook his head. "Don't expect me to fall for the same spell twice, you're going to have to get a little more creative if you want to go for a round two. I won't be holding back on you anymore," he warned with a wry smile.

Alas, he was going to have to have to work on some new tricks otherwise he'd never live that one down (she didn't seem the type to let him), but he'd be ready to test her properly next time!
