[Backdated to before ORP for the Mauvians so that Brioche can get to Regula for somewhere to stay while he's exposed!]
He was starting to appreciate being able to put his feet up sometimes, he was naturally a busy and active sort, but ever since that Mauvian had woken him up he seemed to be significantly more active than he was used to. For once he'd realised he needed to put down the patrols, park the jogging and outside of instructing his pupils on how to correctly practice their martial arts... It was time for some much needed quiet time.
In short, today was a day for a 40,000 piece puzzle.
It was just him, his puzzle and a nice set of nachos with a fair amount of cheese and guacamole on top. Salsa lay off to the side with his drink and he had sat himself down comfortably on the sofa in his PJ bottoms to begin his task. After all, with only himself for company he didn't need to impress anyone or appear in a more dignified manner... As such, his decision to wear his PJs and half brush his hair was an acceptable option for the day.
Even if it had felt odd when he had first woken up, there was something to be said for a lazy day and he could appreciate why some people favoured it.
Sliding a nacho into his mouth he took a glance at the pieces in front of him and began to source the pieces that looked like they were for the edges, strategically speaking that was always one of the smartest bits to do first and then the rest would come naturally.
...Eventually.

The night had begun like so many others. Brioche roamed the streets, looking for those whom he could help, whether they be human or kitten. Habits were hard to break, even as he grew older and more tired and slow. The lack of motivation seemed to be biting him and zapping his energy more than it used to, to the point where he almost seemed to settle with the little progress he had made in awakening an occasional senshi here and there.
Perhaps it was for that reason, that lack of motivation and drive, that he was suddenly punished by a strange shockwave that hit all around him. It shook him from the tip of his ears down to his tail, and in the next moment when he blinked, he seemed to be a lot taller than he once was.
A lot more round. And a lot less furry.
The news that each of the Mauvians had a form like this wasn't new, just certainly one he hadn't ever hoped he could reach.
Yet here he was, tall as day and lacking ears and a tail, which were tell tale signs that something wasn't quite right.
A small sense of panic began to settle in. He couldn't go back to his normal cat-sized self. No matter how much he willed it, he seemed to be stuck. There weren't many people he could ask for help, even less when he realized just how strange he must have looked to anyone who passed him by. With his big fluffy hat, strange, almost bardic clothing, and body that stated he was no youngling, atleast 40, surely, he couldn't go to anyone for help.
He was strange, out of place and needed to hide.
Only one name seemed to come to mind, given his current state, and he near ran to the man's doorstep, awkwardly pressing a doorbell and fidgeting, hoping he would be right and he would be welcomed.
Oh gods, how was he to explain any of this... ?

He wasn't expecting any deliveries, was he? He afforded a quick glance over his shoulder towards the door. Given he hadn't ordered anything there was a chance that his neighbours simply weren't home and something needed to be left with him until they got back. Eh, he could do that, it was no skin off his nose to set it by the front door and wait for them to come and collect it when they were able.
Setting his chips down he hopped to his feet and wandered towards the door, a few clicks later and it was unlocked. A mere second after it was open and he came face to face with a gentleman in a very bright yellow and oddly shaped hat. He could be forgiven for the series of blinks that followed as he peered down at Brioche and took in the scene that was in front of him.
...Did delivery men dress up?
"Ah, can I...help you?" he hazarded. He would start off with the common decency any person was entitled to and go from there. His visitor didn't seem to have any boxes but given he was dressed in a rather peculiar manner he could have served an entirely different purpose. Was he a singing gram person? That would make sense if there were any events for him to celebrate but it wasn't even Wilder's birthday so... It probably wasn't for him.
Shame really.

"Oh, um... Yes, yes, if you could please... Um... I..." When the door finally opened, Brioche and worked himself into a right mess. His nerves were shot, and he stammered, unsure of what to say to fully explain the situation. It might as well be the full and utter truth while he still had some of his wits about him.
"I'm Brioche... Except, well... Human, I suppose... Y-you remember right? The cat who helped you out? I forgot to explain a few things but.. I... I need your help. I'm not exactly used to being like this, and I can't seem to change back... Would you allow me to come in off the street, please...? I've nowhere else to really go..."

"Well you certainly sound like him," Regula didn't even hesitate as soon as he heard the voice and instead he simply swung the door wide. "Do your kind have some sort of weird magical boy moment too?" he asked curiously. He wouldn't make light of it just yet, based on Brioche's demeanour this was clearly distressing. Suffice to say that if he was in this sort of state then goodness only knew what had happened to cause it.
"What happened?" he added and closed the door behind him, waving for Brioche to find himself a seat on one of the couches. To be fair if the Mauvian wanted to steal his nachos he probably wouldn't have made a big deal out of that either, if anything, it would say Regula from himself!
"I'm guessing this isn't normal for you," he added. Actually, Brioche may have already confirmed that with the whole thing about not being used to it and not being able to change back.

”I... Well, yes, I suppose we do, but I’m fairly certain I haven’t reached that point...” Once he came through the door, he politely removed his hat, murmuring a soft ‘thank you’, and then went to the couch. The familiarity of the house eased his nerves, atleast enough so that he seemed to breath easy again.
For as much as he preached being calm, he was struggling with it himself right now.
“It... I’m not sure. There was this feeling, a sudden wave across my body, as if I walked from a freezer into a warm room, and then I was tall... Try as I might, I can’t return to normal. Typically, when we Mauvians become stronger, we find we are able to hold a humanoid form, but I’m certain I’ve never reached that point... And at the very least, we should be able to change back... Not be stuck like this...”

His brow furrowed, had there been any odd happenings as of late that would be able to cause that. He cast his brain back to anything 'odd' that might have happened in the last week or so but couldn't really identify anything. It didn't strike him as particularly important that there had been an incident at one of the building sites. To be entirely honest there were hiccups at construction sites all the time and so long as things didn't explode, go on fire, or fall over, the police generally didn't care.
"So nothing like this has ever happened before?" He asked.
He didn't know Mauvians could transform, he still had a lot to learn it seemed, but it did strike him as odd that Brioche had been stuck as he was now. It didn't really help that the poor guy had been stuck in clothes that were far from ordinary, although Athalia could appreciate the hat.
"Like, ever...?" He shook his head as he wandered back to take a seat and held out the bowl of chips that he had set on the table. Brioche definitely didn't seem to be taking this well, but Regula wasn't convinced he would either in the given circumstances.
He paused briefly and pursed his lips.
"It's not like one of those solar bursts that tend to knock out comms is it?" he shook his head. "I don't really know how your kind work," he admitted. "Did we have some sort of solar flare and it's made you go weird?" He mused. Not that a Mauvian was a piece of technology per say, but in a world with magic he was starting to clutch at straws and contemplate what would typically be considered ridiculous.
"It might go back to normal in a day or two if there's some sort of disconnect," he added, his tone warm as he attempted to comfort his friend. Suffice to say that in these situations he had no idea what to do but he could at least relate to the 'it should not be doing what it's doing' thing, that was the story of his senshi life at the moment!
"Can we marinate you back in to cat form?" he added with a hint of a smile. "Maybe you've spent too much time around us tall folks and you've over seasoned yourself," he teased.
Ill timed maybe, but what could you say to someone in these moments.
"You know you can stay here as long as you need to until you work it out either way, there's no way I'll let you wander around without having a safe place to come back to."

"Nothing comes to mind.. I mean, perhaps it has, and it was recorded in our Mauvian Database, but I can't reach that place as I am now. I am far too big, and lacking in anything that would mark me as a Mauvian... For all intents and purposes, I am as human as you are. I could believe that a solar flare could do something, certainly, but the idea of it stripping me of everything that makes me, me, seems a bit strange.... There must be something far more complicated than that going on. And I don't know the scope of how many have been affected. It could simply be me, or it could be all of the Mauvians... I just do not know, and I have no way to reach them.." As Brioche thought of it further, he began to stress more and more. Everything was exhausting, the world turned him on his head, and he was stuck as a person who just didn't belong in this world.
Were he a young man, perhaps he would have cried from the stress.
"Your ideas have validity behind it, for certain. Marinating to return to normal, re-establishing a connection... I'm sure something like that would work, but we don't... Hmm... Mauvians such as myself, or who I once was, don't quite have the same access to our planet... I've never been, no one I knew or met has been. We can't reach it... I haven't the foggiest clue how to get there.." Why was everything seeming more and more hopeless as they spoke?
"I... I very much appreciate your generosity.. This is all very hard to process..."

"I'm not sure I understand," Regula admitted as he motioned to Brioche; sure he certainly looked human but that didn't mean his entire genetic sequence changed, did it? In this respect the man was entirely naive to the more complex technology that existed in a Mauvian world, he was scarcely exposed to it and given how new the other stuff was it would take some time for him to process that Mauvians might have even more at their disposal too!
"Did you have some sort of gate that you had to walk through that recognised what you are?" he shrugged. "I mean, I'd assume most of you is the same inside even if you're not," he waved his hand towards his head. The thing was, as Regula hadn't yet met a humanoid version of a Mauvian it didn't even cross his mind that they tended to radiate with an immense signature that would be rather difficult to miss.
"Have you got any way to reach out to others and see if they're the same?" he added. There was no use getting stuck on the what-ifs, if Brioche said he didn't know then he'd believe him. However, if the Mauvians had a similar way to communicate that the senshi did then maybe he'd be able to speak to someone else and they could put two very creative and intelligent minds together.
...Regula would only serve as a third wheel in that encounter.
"Or..." he pursed his lips. "If something happened and you felt it then would you remember roughly what direction it came from?" he hazarded. He couldn't promise anything but the least he could do was check with work to see if anything 'odd' had happened, he'd just need to know what vicinity to look in. Not that he'd find anything, given the blast had caused no specific issues in a city wide radius no one had probably cared... It was still worth a look though.
"We can always take a wander and see what we find," he furrowed his brow. "Or I can, if you just want to settle somewhere warm until it blows over," he added.

"Well, it's not so much of a gate that recognizes who we are... Technically it does? But even if that worked, the space is small. For those of approximately 'cat' sized. I don't think I could go in there that way. There would be larger areas, but through the front door, no." At the next question, Brioche seemed to blush a little and look away, more ashamed than he really should be.
"I've never been the best at making friends... I... Am old, compared to the others. I am not very active, nor am I someone to be admired, so getting along with those who are more spry or eager to fight is hard. I fear being berated..." There was one that crossed his mind, but they haven't talked in quite some time.
"I do recall something, it came from somewhere downtown... I have a feeling that whatever happened will happen again, and I'll feel that pulse again, or maybe a pull. That's how things seemed to work in this city. If... If you truly wouldn't mind, I would very much like to just rest for now..."

Granted, Brioche might very well be older than Athalia, he didn't actually know how long Mauvians lived for... but his raised brow at the declaration that age was a factor in his decision to stay away from others should have made it clear that he might have thought it best if Brioche re-evaluated that little bit. Nevertheless, now was neither the time or the place to point this out and he wasn't about to pressure the poor man into anything.
"I was unaware there was a quota," he waved his hand in relation to the activity levels and took a seat. He couldn't solve this problem and trying to help would probably do more harm than good, this was entirely out of his realm of expertise anyway.
"I can make a few calls and see if anything happened but," he wrinkled his nose. "You're right, weird things tend to happen around here and we've stopped caring," he admitted. There were more than a few odd anomalies that had happened throughout his career and nothing had happened with them, not even a sliver of investigation.
"Rest as long as you need, this'll work itself out in the end," he sounded more reassuring than even he had expected, but if the general trend did continue then when the follow-up Brioche mentioned happened, then something else would occur to 'fix' whatever had happened here, right?

”Strange, isn’t it? Somehow the stars know how to judge our worth, and if we are worthy enough, we apparently are granted humanoid form. It makes no sense. But thank you, truly. Even if your calls end up being of no help, I am grateful that you tried for me.” Ugh... He was so very tired from this all. It did not do well on his old heart to stress so much.
“Thank you, again. I know I keep saying it, and I can’t seem to stop, but you truly are kind. I am absolutely certain Cosmos will bless you for your helpfulness...”

Who?
He'd save that question for another time, given that his new housemate was this tired it was probably in his best interests to at least try to get some proper rest. He could thank Regula as much as he wanted if he still felt inclined, but given that the man lived alone it wasn't as if Brioche was going to encounter any other individuals who would be less happy to see their territory encroached upon.
"Then I'd consider this a trial run, with the overall sentiment so far being 'not a fan at the moment'," he offered. Granted Brioche might have been more receptive if he could change back, but in a world where he couldn't, the loss of control wouldn't really help anyone buy in to an idea.
"For now though you might as well eat, curl up, sleep and...wait for it to sort itself out," He suggested.

"That sounds like an excellent idea.. Perhaps a shower first? If you feel so inclined. Otherwise I feel as if I'd simply stink up your couch.." Brioche laughed nervously, though even now, as he had his seat, he seemed to do his best to make himself small.
"And anything to eat is fine. I am not picky in the least. I appreciate even the oldest of leftovers."

"Shower is through that door," he pointed at one that lay down a corridor and smiled. It didn't seem appropriate to correct him in regards to his offer to eat leftovers at this particular moment. There would be a time and a place to tell him off gently, but the day when he'd lost his paws to something quite foreign wasn't that time.
"Help yourself to whatever is in the fridge," he added.
Heh, maybe he would eventually loosen up and relax a little. It wasn't as if he could get underfoot given Regula's own lifestyle so he would have a fairly free run of the place as well! Short of trashing it, there wasn't much Brioche could do to offend or infuriate Regula and if his current disposition was anything to go by, he'd probably panic at the slightest puff of dust that escaped from under a coaster at this rate.
"Although you'll probably want to give the Kale a miss, it's not for everyone," he chuckled.
