After 20 weeks of brutal Police Academy, Drew had passed with flying colors. He had sat down last night and meticulously filled out the Police Officer Application for the Police Department where Officer Fischer worked. It took several hours and finally it was complete. They had done the background check and the Psych test so he could get into the Police Academy. This morning, he brought everything (checked everything twice), made sure he was well groomed, and then walked into the Police Station and asked to see Officer Fischer and told them his name.

Jeremy left his office with a curious expression on his face but he smiled when he saw Drew. "Oh, hey, stranger. You're looking pretty cleaned up. What's the occasion?" he asked with a broad grin on his face. He always seemed pleased to seem Drew, and seemed even happier to see him now.
Jeremy himself didn't seem to have changed much in the past twenty weeks; his hair was a little shorter now--cut, at some point in time, but it looked like it grew quickly. He was still the same old person he'd always been--a smile on his face, but eyes that said he'd seen enough to know the world wasn't all good. There were dark circles under his eyes, from stress or lack of sleep, but it wasn't like that was something to slow him down.
He cared about doing his job right--it wasn't perfect by any means, but he had people he wanted to protect. That wasn't going to happen if he wasn't doing it himself.

"Officer Fischer! Good to see you!" Etamin smiled. "The occasion?" He was puzzled for a second. Then, it hit him. He had shaved his head (a big turn around from the long thick braid), shaved his more than 5 o'clock shadow, and was dressed in a dark buttoned down shirt and tie, dress pants, and dress shoes, and had his job application, resume, etc. in a folder in hand. He was applying for a job, as he had just completed training, (Duh, Drew). "Sir, I am here to apply for a job, here at the precinct. I've completed the Police Academy." There was a grin on his face.

For a few seconds, Jeremy didn't response, and then a smile broke across his face and he clasped the young man on the shoulder. "Well, now! Congratulations! I'm proud of you! If you've got an interview set up, you'll want to check in with the front desk. We've got HR and an officer that you'll interview with. You look good."
He gave him a look over again and laughed, impressed with how much he had grown since they first met. "I'll put in a good word for you, kid. Well. I suppose I shouldn't call you that, you look like you're all grown up. Buuut, on the other hand. You are still younger than me. So."
He winked. "Good luck, Kid."

Drew grinned. Officer Fischer would always be be Sir to him. His mentor. He hoped he'd make him proud. "Thank you, Sir, I'll do that. I just thought that I would say hello first." He raised his hand in departure and turned to leave.

Jeremy couldn't help but beam at him. He wasn't going to smother him, wasn't going to freak him out with too much enthusiasm--but he was excited. Drew was a good kid--smart, reliable, loyal.
"Go get 'em," he said, crossing his arms over his chest as he watched Drew leave.
The force needed good people. Now, more than ever. There was a dark part of this job that Jeremy didn't want Drew to be exposed to, but it didn't stop him from hoping for the best.
He was a good kid--he could go far in this.
He could make this town a little safer. A little better.
Jeremy had complete faith in him.

Drew found the interview brutal. The officer picked apart his Police Academy Days (which were spotless), his psych profile, (which had been pristine), his grades the last two years of high school (which were good), but the officer picked up that he had gone to Hillworth and hammered that, and then realized that he knew Drew from somewhere - he remembered Drew Bones the little hellion that terrorized and vandalized City Monuments when he was twelve. Drew thought it was over then, but didn't give up, and soon the officer was saying that some of the other officers spoke highly of him and how he had gotten his life back on track, and how proud he was that he, Officer Andrew Bones would be joining their department. He shook Drew's hand, who was clearly in shock and led him out to take the tour.
