Sailor Etamin called his friend Sailor Adorea up on his Senshi Phone. He hadn't seen her in a while, and felt like a good sparring practice. Most of his main partners were busy today, and besides, he wanted to make sure the new Senshi was keeping up her training. Even if one wasn't actively participating in the war, not training could get an Order Member killed just for being an Order member. "Sailor Adorea, I, Sailor Etamin, invite you to a Sparing Match, at the old rock quarry on the outside of town. Come prepared!"

She hadn't expected that kind of invitation when she picked up her phone, it had been so abrupt and so sudden that she had been left staring at it for a few moments to process what had just happened. She couldn't help but laugh, whether she liked it or not she had been summoned and on this occasion it seemed like Etamin intended to check she was keeping herself in shape.
...Unfortunately, when it came to her senshi self, she wasn't quite strong enough to take on an Eternal.
Still, she wouldn't keep in waiting! It wasn't long before she'd worked out what quarry he was talking about and soon enough she was on her way there, whistling as she went. He'd picked a neat spot to say the least and it was certainly something that was used to seeing explosive activity so anything either of them did wouldn't cause too much damage.
"A duel huh?" she called out as she drew near.
"You know you're gonna win right?" she teased.

Etamin crinkled an eyebrow. "This isn't about winning or losing. I just want make sure you're in shape. If you're not, your family will be grieving for you and never know why. Or you could have an extremely embarrassing mishap that will make the evening news." He rubbed the back of his head, and remembered fighting a youma in a school parking lot that had the power of wind - the back of his kilt flew up, and he remembered seeing his own rear on the news that evening. That was many years ago, and not many remembered it, but his partner still teased him about it. His face burned at the memory. He continued. "I will not be fighting at my full strength, but I want you to be. Understand? And I want you to use your powers on me when it will be useful. Clear?"

Evidently Etamin had been through a few things that he didn't want others to experience, Adorea hadn't seen that news report and it was probably a good thing she hadn't otherwise she probably would have teased him like his partner did!
"Etamin my powers don't hurt anyone," she shook her head and offered a small smile. "They heal and make people feel better," she added and waved her hand. "But if you want me to give you a good smack and then use them to make sure you don't get a black eye I can totally do that!" she declared with considerable enthusiasm.
Yep, she had gotten better at fighting thanks to the help of some other folks and some practice in the field, but at least when it came to sparring she could clean up afterwards if she needed to.
"Don't worry I've been working on my stuff, I don't hit like a feather anymore, promise!" she finished and readied herself, bouncing on her toes and raising her hands.

Etamin nodded. "We will indeed test out your attacks, afterwards. I did tell you to come prepared right? Ready? Lets see how you deal with being blindfolded?" Quick as lightning, he used his basic Sailor Scout attack: Sailor Scout Attack: Pharaoh's Curse -Directions: Write Curse in Hieroglyphics in air (appear in air). In English reads, "Blind as Pharaoh, In death, you will be, Until count of thirty, Cause you would not listen to me." -Effects: Blinds enemy for 20 seconds -Uses: 3 She was now blinded for 20 seconds. He approached her and took a swing, like he was a basic level himself.

Next to no one could fight well when blindfolded, it took an incredible amount of discipline and skill as a specific type of warrior to be able to do that and Adorea was never going to be at that level. She could certainly try to learn some of it, she even knew who she could ask to try and teach her, but the chances of success were low.
...As such, she didn't stand a chance and Etamin gave her a considerable smack.
She stumbled, remaining open to attack and she would stay that way until the blind wore off. The most she'd be able to do in this state was flail about and attempt to hit him, which she did, but it wasn't likely she'd be able to hit him properly. Truth be told, if she managed to land any blows while she was blinded it would be based on pure luck.

Etamin ducked a blow easily. "This is not to test your ability to fight blindfolded, but to test your ability to adapt. Your foes will throw all kinds of attacks at you, so you need to be- oof", she actually landed a hit in his abdomen. "Ready. Good." The attack wore off. He spun away and ducked into his duffel bag, pulling out a leather vest. He tossed it to her. "Put it on." It was heavy.

Now that she could finally see again she was able to work out what he had tossed towards her, a heavy leather vest - that one she wasn't going to do.
"No," she replied and shook her head. "I don't fight with weights, I was told not to," she pointed out. Whether he liked it or not she had received training from other places and it had focused on what she was good at. Her teachers had been very clear that she shouldn't put herself at any disadvantage and as she wasn't strong in that sense, making her wear weights wasn't something they had wanted to do.
...Adorea was about speed and she had been getting better at that.
"They've been teaching me how to use my speed and I know more than a few people who would be pissed off if I ignored that," she pointed out. She didn't want to disrespect Etamin, but at the same time, she really would be useless with that thing on and she'd get nothing out of it.
If she couldn't hit him while flailing and blind without pure luck on her side, then she sure as heck wasn't going to be able to hit anything while she was moving as quickly as a snail.
