personality Caolan is a friendly, happy go lucky young man, who enjoys exploring, spending time with his family, and painting. He adores his sisters and parents, and easily makes new friends thanks to his cheerful demeanor. He does, however, have a bit of his mothers' fearfulness in him, and can freeze up and become a stuttering mess when something 'scary' happens, such as seeing an unusual familiar, meeting Aishans, or being shocked by something.

History
Childhood Born alongside his twin sister Alfina, to Kieran and Taijana, Caolan has two older sisters Kitya and Xenia. He grew up in Yaeli with his mother, awed by his father's work as a cartographer, but not quite brave enough to leave home. Even so, he did explore outside the settlements quite a bit as a boy, getting into trouble and coming home dirty more often than not.
Prentice As a prentice, Caolan's longing to leave home and explore the world intensified as his older sisters, Kitya and Xenia, left home (or disappeared in Xenia's case). His loyalty to his sister Alfina and mother kept him home, but as time passed he became more eager to explore.
After a near death experience in nearly drowning in Yaeli's underwater rivers, Caolan was saved by Nok, a young Yaeli who was familiar to Caolan, even if they'd never had the chance to talk before. He also managed to meet Luleta while gathering medicinal moss during the Yaeli Harvest Season.
Caolan knew what he wanted, but that didn't make it easy to pursue it. He'd known, almost as soon as he picked up his first brush - from the moment his father had returned from his first trip away after Caolan was a boy, and he asked - what was it like? What did the mysterious, far away land his father had gone to map and explore look like?
Wide-eyed and captivated, he tried to imagine the places his father described. Soft sanded beaches with sparkling water and pretty shells in Matori; the myriad colors and leaves of the forests of Jauhar, the freezing ice and looming mountains of Zena. He couldn't fathom it, couldn't even imagine - when he painted the stories his father told, they were fantastical and innaccurate, but how else should he imagine such places?
Caolan liked his home though. He loved his sister, and after the disappearance of Xenia... he knew his mother couldn't take anyone else disappearing. But he wanted. He wanted to see those lands, to put to paper what they really were like. It wasn't that he hated his home, hated Yaeli. In all of his imaginings of a life of travel, he was like his father - always returning home to Yaeli, to his mother and sisters, but this time he could show them what the world beyond their dreary shores was really like.
Was that so much to ask? Maybe it was. Maybe... the gods really would curse him. His eyes would lose the glow of life, like his father had, and - and...
Maybe this was all some cursed dream, but Caolan wanted. He wanted to leave home, to travel and just... see for himself.
If his father could do it, so could he, right? And who said it would be for forever?
