Improvements were always a good thing and with the help of his new allies and friends he was beginning to find a way to control himself. He was grateful to all of them, but with that new found control came a responsibility to use it for the things it was intended for. Up until now he hadn't actively sought out anyone that may pose a threat, sure he'd looked for Youma, but he hadn't felt comfortable enough to seek out those who happened to 'control' them as it were.
As of today, that was about to change.
Now confident enough to take that risk he had set out to move towards more direct haunts of the so-called 'enemy'. He wasn't guaranteed to find anyone but those he had spoken to had said that this was where they normally found some of them. There was something about the more questionable areas of town (places he was already familiar with) that seemed to attract them. Maybe it was something to do with the fact that very few people actually cared about the vulnerable people out here because they had brought their circumstances upon themselves?
...While he could see why people might judge those who had hit a low point, now was neither the time or place for him to do it.
Thus, he could be found wandering the alleys this evening, and while he didn't know who or what to expect, he was keeping an eye out for anything strange.SSBrosB I've started this as a battle but if you want it downgraded to regular we can do that. I know DMC are more neutral but I wasn't sure if this was the type you needed for his reqs or not!

"You can do this Varda." She whispered to herself as she watched the people down below. She had been told that this was a good area to have her wraiths gather some easy energy but it still made her nervous. This had been an area she had been through before that had made her question whether she was going to walk through it and come out alive and unharmed. But... it was different now right? She had more strength than a regular human, let alone a man, had. If she did then she would be able to beat them... Hopefully. She took in a deep breath, let it out, and then summoned "her" wraith. She wasn't sure if she actually had her own or if it was just a randomly summoned one. From the ones that she had seen, they looked a lot alike and she couldn't really tell the difference. Still, this was the one that would be helping her tonight, and she made sure it knew what to do before it went off to gather energy between the crowds. With that she jumped into the Alley below, trying to hide herself from whomever may have been out there and watched her wraith work. Still, she felt something that didn't feel right... like it was the opposite of her "aura". Was it an enemy? Was it nothing? She wasn't sure, but she needed to gather some energy!

There it was.
That undeniably flicker of something out of place and then another surge of something that simply shouldn't have been there. By now he knew what that was and his head turned towards the source. From his current vantage point he couldn't see it, but he knew where to find it. He took several steps backwards, changing to move in the opposite direction and back towards the darkened streets he had already prowled through a short while ago.
Varda was lucky at first, he didn't catch sight of her straight away... But her wraith wasn't to be so lucky. At first, she would have heard heavy footsteps, dulled against the dust in the more unkempt alleyways... And then the long shadows would have formed as he drew near. With street lights casting a shadow into the alley, the shape of it should have been enough to warn her of what was approaching.
The Herculean Senshi was soon upon them both, though Varda remained hidden (for now), his gaze seemed fixed on her companion. For now it did still have time to work, if only because he hadn't encountered a wraith before, but it wouldn't be very long before the senshi had taken in what lay before him and what that thing was currently in the process of doing.
It might not have been a youma, but that thing was still trying to feed.
Athalia remained silent as he observed it, unmoving from his place a short distance away, but it would be unlikely he would remain that way for long... Varda was going to have to decide what her next move would be or else he'd be making it for her!

Varda felt it... she was pretty sure it was Order. It felt quite different from any Chaos ones that she had learned to recognize and nothing else really gave her this type of feeling unless it was one. Which meant that someone was nearby. The aura had come toward her and then... stopped. But she felt it nearby. She didn't know where they were, but decided she wasn't going to just stand here. Perhaps it hadn't been the best idea to jump in the alley. Now she didn't have a line of sight to see whoever it was that was around here. She wondered for a moment if she could use the wraith as a distraction. If it stayed far enough away, the Senshi would have to choose which one to attack right? If it was the wraith, well she felt sorry for it, but she could gather the energy later. If it was Varda, then the wraith could keep doing what it needed to until she could all it again... She made the decision to jump onto one of the smaller rooftops, her boots clacking a bit as she tried to see where the Senshi was. When she did find him, and it had taken a little bit as he was hidden and it was dark but she managed to find the Senshi in their strange outfit. Male, good looking, lots of muscles. She would have admired him if she wasn't powered and on the other side, but as it was, she could tell he was here to fight and well, she couldn't help but feel up to the challenge! She jumped down again, this time close to the Senshi so he could see her, but not close enough for him to throw a punch. "Hey, if it's me you're looking for, I'm right here!" She said with a smile. "Trying to stop my wraith?"

His gaze flicked between the wraith and to the senshi who had called out to him, it soon resulted in a double-take as this was the first time he had met a corrupted variant of a senshi. Sure, she was a Mirror Senshi but when it came to chaotic signatures her's was the first he'd sensed and without a Corrupted Senshi to compare it to he couldn't possibly tell the difference.
What the...?
So his kind could and did fall. A part of him considered this to be unacceptable and his jaw tightened at the possibility. They had a duty and if they had already lost once before, how dare another lose their conviction when they had been given another chance to try and succeed?
He had several options in this moments, one was to chase the senshi and ignore the wraith, one was to destroy the wraith and ignore the senshi and the other was to attempt to address both at once. He was quick but when it came down to the wire it was extremely unlikely he would be capable of catching both if she decided to make a nuisance of herself!
Given he hadn't yet reached the lofty heights of the more morally skewed and grey compass necessary to address some of his concerns, his priorities remained similar to most Order Senshi at this moment in time. The vulnerable needed to be saved first and then the root cause needed to be addressed. Thus, he elected to deal with the wraith first and launched himself towards it. Using his full weight he aimed to crush it into the dust he was now used to seeing and then he would focus on Varda.
"There is no trying!" He replied smoothly. "There is only succeeding," he snarled, his gaze fixed on her companion for now.
...It wouldn't be long before he was after her though!
He'd have to find out later whether or not such creatures could come back swiftly or if they took time to recharge, as his first introduction to the Dark Mirror, she and her 'friend' were a mystery to him.

Varda felt a bit sad that this Senshi was so serious. Perhaps she just wasn't used to it in all of this magical war stuff yet, but she was hoping that this would be a bit more fun. Making it serious meant that she had to think more about her actions and the effects it had on others, which would be different if she were a civilian, but thinking that this war was actually... Well she really didn't want to think about it! She was surprised at how hard the man slammed into her wraith, almost wondering if he needed to use such strength on it to shatter it. She felt bad for her wraith, it didn't need to get hit that hard! And hopefully it wasn't totally dead. She could only hope, but then again, it's not like they were familiars or anything. Still, it meant that she wouldn't be bringing it back out again. She didn't want another one to get hurt like that one had, and that meant she would be fighting on her own for now. "Well you didn't have to hit it that hard!" She said, now feeling anger at the thought of the Senshi hurting it. He was now farther away and she would have to run to him... What would be the best way? It wouldn't be long until the Senshi was after her, and so she would have to trust her instincts. She started to run toward him, as fast as she could in these heels at least, and waited until she had a moment...

At least in some distant part of her shadowed world she'd be able to find her companion again. As he lacked the powers of a Royal he would never be able to truly destroy anything corrupt. He could shatter them in to pieces as often as he wanted and they would still return. It was a fact that he hadn't discovered yet but he would soon learn the truth, it was an endless fight because even as he destroyed them both the Negaverse and the Mirrorverse simply drained the living to restore their horrors.
...Unless he became drastically more powerful there was little chance he would make a significant dent. Alas, this was why this war was endless and this was why his own kind could never rest. Short of the Negaverse and the Mirrorscape having a change of heart and starving themselves, they would never stop and there would always be people that got hurt.
"Hitting it that hard makes sure it doesn't get back up," he replied thinly.
Did she really expect him to have compassion for something that hurt people? She may have deemed it a more entertaining thing than he did, but in this he saw things as very black and white. This was not a game, it wasn't fun, and he wasn't going to let them persist!
Credit where it was due though, he didn't think he could run in heels and she was certainly gunning for him at a surprisingly rapid rate in them. He pulled his leg back and lifted his arm to brace, if she was going to try and land a blow on him then he'd be ready for it. Once she was in reach though, well, the gloves would come off and it wouldn't be her wraith that would be heading for a wall.

She saw him move his stance, and it was one that she hoped that she could dodge doing what she was planning to do. After all, it's not like she wanted to run into what appeared to be a brick wall in human form. At the last possible moment that she thought she could get away with it, she went down into a slide, trying to get behind him, not really caring how far the dress that she was wearing went up. She needed to get behind him. And sure, while she could have jumped, he could jump too, and possibly hit her in the air too. At least if she slid by him on the ground, she thought he might not be able to turn as quickly. When she was far enough behind, she threw out one of her legs towards the back of the lower leg of the bent one, hoping that she could throw him off his balance! If she didn't well, she thought she would at least be able to run out of here and possibly find another place to try to drain energy from civilians.

She was agile and she was smart.
Had she been on his side he would have expressed a measure of appreciation for that little move. It had been small, but significant. She'd spotted he was prepared and in return she had used her own momentum to adjust and reposition herself without giving him the chance to grab her. Perhaps he'd underestimated this one and even now he did have to offer a measure of respect. Any opponent that could answer him with something of their own needed to be treated with a measure of caution.
Regardless, he wanted about to let someone outsmart him too badly. It would throw his own training in to disrepute and he did pride himself on what he could do. A simply kick to the back of his leg wasn't going to floor him completely. Granted it did hit him, super human he might be now but that didn't mean he could move faster than she could, they were on an even playing field when it came to that and as such...she got what she came for with that one.
What mattered now was the recovery.
With his knee kicked out from under him he had no other choice but to roll and recover, flipping back round to face her with a peculiar smile on his lips. Evidently he did seem to appreciate what she'd managed to do!
He didn't have much time to hesitate though, with Varda capable of thinking on the move he needed to move quickly himself. With that in mind he leapt forward again, this time moving at speed himself to close the small distance between the two. He had no interest in a punch, a body slam would probably be more effective in this case... Well, in theory it would anyway, given how agile she was he suspected there was a high probability it would be a check rather than a slam, but it might be enough to knock her off balance.
He'd have to see how this one played out, but he was intrigued.

Well, she had done something which was her goal. It was just the after part of it that she hadn't thought of, especially when he rolled, faced her again, and then leapt forward. She had no idea what he wanted to do, but she knew that she did not want to get hit by this guy and unfortunately she couldn't use her wraith as some sort of shield, even if she could summon it again. Instead, she only tried to move out of the way. Unfortunately it wasn't enough and she was knocked to the ground landing on her side. At least she was used to this sort of thing having been knocked around enough on the Roller Derby rink so the pain wasn't too hard to think past. But now she needed to get up again. This time she moved her hand underneath her and quickly pushed herself up and moved onto her butt rocked back and used the moment to get back up on her feet. She manged it, but she did stagger a bit as one of her feet stepped on a rock. And she was still recovering from being hit. He had hit her pretty hard and while she wasn't pinned underneath him at this point, he was close enough to reach out and grab her. She just hoped she had enough time to counter-attack!

Had they been on the same side he would have found this quite thrilling, but he steadied himself and his enthusiasm in the given circumstances. While finding an opponent equal to himself was a delight (he loved this in the dojo), this was not the place to be celebrating. What he had to do was not for glory, it wasn't for kudos, it was simply a job and enjoyment was a bit of a slippery slope to go down.
With her still slightly unsteady, he swung round to try and deliver another blow. Aiming for her chest rather than her face it was his intention to throw her backwards rather than to knock her out. Winding seemed more useful in these circumstances, if he could catch people off-guard this generally unsettled them enough to get them to run.
Given that he had already bid her wraith farewell and cast it back in to uh... whatever it considered home, it wasn't entirely clear whether or not she could even cause harm to others. Well, she could certainly punch them, but whether she could drain them was something he didn't know. It was better to be safer than sorry though and it was for this reason he wasn't quite ready to let her go.
...He hadn't yet started down the path to executing those of chaos, it might come in time, but for now he still gave them a chance.

She almost squeaked in surprise at the fist that came towards her, only barely jumping out of the way. Unfortunately, that perhaps wasn't the right move as when she jumped she managed to slip on some garbage that had been lying on the ground once her feet touched down and she felt herself falling backwards! She did the only thing that she could think of to shield her arms and that was to try and fall onto her side. And that she did! Didn't mean it was soft and she could feel the wind knocked out of her. She tried to get up with one hand and found that her arms didn't seem to be damaged, but trying to get back up on her feet was a different story. The foot that had slipped shot pain up her leg when she tried to stand on it, and she realized that she had, at the very least, twisted her ankle. She could continue to try to fight and hurt her ankle even more and wonder if the accelerated healing would be good enough to be able to go to practice tomorrow, or call it a night and figure out somewhere else to drain energy that wouldn't be full of Senshi such as this guy. She would have to take the latter. She managed to stand up, making sure that everything else was okay but faltering a bit on her foot. Still she made sure to look at the Senshi. "Round 1 goes to the Order it seems. Still, we'll have to meet again." She said, before taking a leap onto one of the top of the buildings, cringing at her ankle, and running away. She had to call it a night and she only hoped that the Senshi wouldn't follow her. If he did though she could call for backup at least, but she would rather just go home and rest. An unfortunate first try for energy gathering. Just her luck that someone would be patrolling! It gave her an idea of what she was up against though, and she knew that she had to do better next time. Why was it that these damn chaotic people always managed to get the last word in? He'd never be able to say anything edgy or heroic at this rate and while he thought himself above it, there was a tiny part of him who did want to be able to do that... If he was going to be wearing a costume like some sort of comic hero then he should have at least been allowed to say something neat, right?
Alas, Varda had made her escape and he couldn't do much more than watch after where she'd gone. No doubt they would meet again and there were no guarantees she wouldn't be ready for him this time. In the end he'd only caught her by surprise, if it was the other way round, then the story might be very different.
He heaved a sigh, and having checked that the knocked out civilians were stable, he opted to make his own exit.
He couldn't rest on his laurels here and he definitely couldn't get cocky, it was only a matter of time before they won and it was vital that he found a way to escape just as they had...SSBrosB x3 Next stop Civilian Varda shadowing Civilian cop!
