He was getting used to using this odd little phone that he'd been given by Brioche. he was certainly a lot more adept at it than Adorea had been which was surprising given that older individuals weren't supposed to be good with technology! Ha, but he wasn't ancient yet so he had that going for him and to be fair to the Mauvians this particular phone was quite user friendly.
As it was though, he had just tapped in some random words, an invitation of sorts to anyone friendly who might be nearby, offering to introduce himself and more importantly, to practice what he knew. He felt like he was getting better, he wasn't blowing up quite as regularly and while it still happened some of the time he was starting to get a better handle on it.
...In some ways whatever Cybele had done to him had helped him, when she'd hit him with that bow he'd felt a tug and ever since then he'd started following it he was confident that eventually he would find the solution to his problem.
Today though? Today was a time for him to be sociable and see if he could find yet more of his own kind.
Hopefully someone would respond, and more importantly, they'd be interested in trading a few blows with him so that he could test himself properly!

It was one of the rare times that Takamizawa had been out on patrol lately. He had been stuck mostly studying for school throughout the semester and now he had some time in-between the end of the first semester of his second year. He was only in pre-med but already felt like he was in Graduate school, and any break that he could afford he appreciated. When the message had popped up on his phone, he had been eager to answer. He was a Super Senshi at this time and had wanted to test his skills out against another. Even if they were a level below him, above, or the same, he knew he had improvements to make. There would probably never be a time where he couldn't use them and being able to test out his skills against another would hopefully show him where his weaknesses were. He got over to the area as quickly as he could and waved to the Senshi whom he had assumed sent the message. "Hey! I'm assuming you sent that practice message right? I'd like to try out my skills if that's okay. I'm Takamizawa, Super Senshi of Surgery." Sheesh the guy looked huge compared to him, and Kami felt quite skinny looking at the other Senshi. It made him wonder what the other's power was. If it was strength well then, they certainly picked the right person to represent it!

"That is...quite the sphere," Athalia had known that senshi could have unusual spheres but surgery hadn't been one he thought possible. This was by no means an insult towards Takamizawa, it was merely a revelation to Athalia that they could draw power from something that was in essence, a science! It was fascinating in the way and it was safe to assume that he was intrigued as he regarded the senshi in front of him, slight or not, he had a signature that indicated he had been doing this for a while.
"If you're looking for my full title, Senshi of Hercules Beetles," he added. He wasn't one for most pomp and circumstance but if Takamizawa had seen fit to provide him with a full name then it was only fair he do the same.
"Introductions aside I'm grateful that someone is willing to help me practice as well," he chuckled softly. "If it helps you out then even better," he pointed out, then promptly shook his head. "Though I do have to ask what it is that you can do...?"
If he was about to be stabbed with needles then he better get his carapace shields to work properly, otherwise this training session was going to suck!

"That sphere uh... fits you quite well." Kami was really trying not to point out the muscles that this guy had. He would have to ask about his diet after their training. Maybe he could start gaining a little muscle too? He snapped back to reality when Athalia had asked his question. "Oh! It's just a pain sensation is all." He said, moving his hand in front of him in a slicing motion. "Doesn't do any damage, but if you're weak to pain it might distract you for a bit." He answered. He couldn't help but sigh that his magic didn't really do anything to the enemy though. "I wish it actually did do some damage. Sometimes I feel like my magic isn't good enough and kind of wonder why I bother but-" He shrugged. "I'm still willing to do my part in all of this. I just know though that this would probably be a lot easier if we could do more to the enemy, you know?"He was rambling again. "Sorry, my apologies, that's off topic. We're here to train to fight against them at least! And any little bit helps!" Now it was time for the awkward point where they decided how they were going to start this. It was always easier for him when it was the middle of a battle, but at the beginning it was always nerve-wracking. Often times he knew that the first move in a fight or battle could mean victory or defeat. Not that he was trying to compete against the other Senshi, but he didn't want their training to end too quickly!

"Mine isn't supposed to hurt anyone either," he replied with a reassuring smile. Truth be told while his abilities did on occasion cause damage at the moment, every instinctual element of what he was had made it abundantly clear that this shouldn't be occurring. He considered it a work in progress and the senshi was determined to get his powers to function as they should in time... That was why he was so determined to find people to train with like Kami!
"However, the only way I can work through that is to practice with them," he winked and motioned to his newfound opponent. Some pain and a distraction would be good for him, it would Athalia to find a way to focus even when things were more difficult. If he could focus while Kami was taking the time to distract him then there was no reason why he couldn't focus when it was quiet as well.
"We all have our place in this," Athalia shrugged loosely. "I'm starting to think that on the whole the side we've been picked for doesn't do well unless they function as a team." he admitted. Sure, there were some senshi out there who could do damage and could defend themselves on their own, but if the White Moon had a large number of individuals who had powers that distracted, shielded or healed then it stood to reason that they were supposed fight as one and use those powers to help a squad.
...Quite frankly that would be quite the sight to behold.
"I do have one request though in this training session," he pointed at Kami. "I need you to try and hit me as hard as you can, with your fists and with your magic, I don't think I'm going to get these powers of mine to start working unless someone helps me force them in to behaving," he admitted with a wry smile.
...Surely Kami would be comfortable doing that, at least it was a friendly face and he could experiment if he needed to with what worked for him, right?

"Isn't supposed to?" Kami replied, wondering what the other was implying. Could it be that it wasn't meant to intentionally hurt, that it could still hurt another in the process? Was it just something that could happen because of what the power was, such as a knock-back, or something else? It was interesting to say the least. "I agree. I've often felt like we aren't strong enough because we don't work together. I'd like to see it more often, but most of the time I find myself fighting alone." How he had gotten so far while still being a novice at fighting was beyond him. He often wondered if he should be doing something differently. His eyes widened at the man's request and Kami couldn't help but look at his muscles a bit before going back to his face and wondering even with his powers if Athalia would even be able to feel any punch that Kami threw at him? "I'll uh... do my best." He certainly couldn't prove that anything would come of it though! He moved himself into a more offensive stance, ready to attack the other. "All right, I can start whenever. Just say the word."

"I've got issues," Athalia couldn't really express it more eloquently than that. If he knew what was wrong with him he could at least fix it, but right now the closest he could get was that he mot assuredly had 'issues' with his abilities. He had been on a more positive streak though in terms of luck and all being well, that would continue while he was around Kami!
"But," he flexed his fingers and shook out his arms to loosen his muscles, a confident smile on his lips. "If you don't need magic then I'm probably your guy," he admitted. "If you're ever in a bind then just shout and I'll come," he continued. He wasn't lying either, if one of his own kind was in trouble he would find a way to get there and to stand with them if he could. If there were those who felt like they should fight together then he needed to make sure that they had the ability to do that.
...Maybe in time he could make something out of it.
Not that he was aspiring to create the Avengers but it was certainly food for thought. Could Mauvians make stealth airships? He'd have to ask some day.
Nevertheless with Kami ready he cleared his throat and squared off his own posture, to be quite honest he wasn't sure if his magic would stop what Kami could do but he remained determined to try and cast his abilities while he was under pressure.
"Alright let's do this," he nodded. "Give me your best shot!"

Kami wanted to respond "doesn't everyone?" at Athalia's confession of "issues" but decided against it. Only grinning a little at the other Senshi, making sure to keep any snarky or sarcastic responses to himself. "Thanks. Honestly makes me feel a bit better that there's a Senshi out there that will actually come to help. Not that others wouldn't, but I feel like you either have to be super close to them, or at least have their number." So many and yet so far apart. He still didn't feel any closer to them, except Hamal, since he had started. Well, there was Adria too. Slowly but surely he was starting to make more acquaintances and friends, but it still felt lacking. Kami pulled his mask up, not wanting to deal with it moving around his neck as they fought. "All right then, Surgeon's Slice!" He said as he moved his hand as though he were holding a scalpel and made a motion as though he were slicing something on Athalia. He wasn't sure if it would work and couldn't quite remember the last time that he had used the attack. Or if Athalia would even move and the hit would miss. Still, he wanted to try it out, but knew that he was leaving himself open for some attack if Athalia could tell what was going on. Epine de Rose Surgeon's Slice Focusing on a target, Kami makes a slicing motion with his hand as if holding a scalpel. Down the middle of the of the target's chest a thin line appears and it feels as if they are being cut open for surgery. Feels like getting cut by a knife. It lasts for 35 seconds and can be used on two targets, with only 2 uses. The player can choose a pain amount, between a scale of 1-10, between 5-7 on the scale (only the sensation of pain! They don't actually get cut!).

Athalia had begun to square off and prepare himself for the attack, but when it struck him he was caught off guard. He had initially intended to return the attack with a shield of his own, but no sooner had he prepared to do so than his expression became somewhat queer. He'd never experienced a sensation quite like this one and to say his facial expression had warped into something a touch peculiar was an understatement.
'Ow' didn't quite cover it either.
Up until now Athalia had not been struck by magic intended to do harm, he'd experienced buffs and healing but not pain. A real weapon was one thing, something that he couldn't touch or see inflicting him with pain was another. Unsurprisingly he was a touch out of sorts at this point and no response from him was forthcoming.
It took him more than a few seconds to recover, at the very least adjusting to the pain ricocheting through his chest to the point that he flicked his eyes back towards Kami.
"Jesus," was about the only thing he could utter, lowering himself to the ground briefly to let the magic wear off before he spoke again. Now this was a learning experience for him and this was something he was going to have to condition himself for. Kami had unintentionally taught him a very valuable lesson and that was that he would lose in a fight with someone with these abilities if he wasn't able to at least tolerate them better.
When it had finally passed though he did suck in a breath and gave Kami a very pointed stare.
"Hit me again," he ordered. This time he was going to force himself through it and he was already telling himself that he better do something during it other than reel!

Was it really that painful? Kami wondered as the man reacted and considering how weak his attacks previously seemed to be, he wondered just how much more powerful they had grown to make a man like this at least pause for a moment. He could tell the other was in pain though, and before he could comment Athalia ordered him to do it again, which made the Super jump back a bit. "Uh well, I will. But I can only use it twice so if you want me to use it again, we'll have to wait a day." Was it a day? When did his powers come back? That was something he hadn't yet tested out, but certainly didn't want to learn in a battle against an Agent. The Basic looked determined though, so Kami knew that the other would probably try something. What it was he wasn't sure, but Kami would have to be ready for anything. After a moment though, he silently nodded to the man and once again took the same stance and yelled out "Surgeon's Slice!" Making the motion with his arm.

There were limits?
Athalia hadn't realised that this could be a possibility. Evidently some of his failings might well be down to that and it would be something to consider later. For now though, his focus needed to be on Kami's next strike, and more importantly, on what he was determined to do in return. Fortunately this did mean that Kami would be entirely safe, provided everything went well and Athalia's abilities didn't backfire.
...Truth be told, Athalia was fairly certain Kami was far enough back to stay safe and it would just be himself that would go soaring through the air if something went wrong!
Nevertheless, as Kami's attack hit he still had the same, almost sickening sensation. No one liked to be cut and he was no exception, but rather than allow the pain to get to him quite so much on this occasion he forced himself to look beyond it. He had to get this right, as distracting and uncomfortable as this was, he had to work through it. Hands raised, he soon threw them outwards and at least attempted to cast his own spell.
"Herculean Shield!"
No one could have declared it a complete success, it flickered and fizzled, but a sheen did form across his arms with the faintest hint of insect wings and carapace. Something was supposed to be there, that much was clear, he just couldn't quite get it out yet. Whether that was due to him being too distracted by the new sensation, or due to a disconnect within his own being remained to be seen, but at least it was something.
He grunted, the magic dissipating very quickly in a clear sign that it hadn't done what it was supposed to and released a sigh, there would always be another day. It seemed like every day required 'another day', but practice would make perfect at some time in his life.
"Not quite," he sighed and motioned to Kami. "You can really only do that twice?" he asked softly. "Not that it doesn't do the job, but have you got anything else?" he added. He didn't seem to be judging him, merely trying to learn, and perhaps he had come to realise that he would probably have those limitations too and he'd need to be selective on when he used his own spells (well, if they ever worked).

Kami was surprised at just how much the Senshi was struggling to get his powers to work. So far for Kami all of his seemed to come so naturally and they seemed to work... at least now that he had gotten to his Super form. Before when he was just a Basic Senshi he had wondered if his magic had worked at all considering how many opponents just brushed it off. He blushed in embarrassment at the question that Athalia asked about the number of times he could use it. Of course Kami had thought about it before, wondering why there had to be such limits on his magic considering that Negaverse Agents always had their weapons. It really did put them at a disadvantage didn't it? As good as Senshi magic was, the fact that they could only use it for a small amount of time or a certain number made it so that they had to be careful when they used them. Either one could use it too early or too late. Something Kami hadn't remembered having trouble with yet, but he was sure that it would happen some day. "Unfortunately so." He said after recovering from the embarrassment. "I'm not sure why. Maybe it's whatever we draw our magic from only having a certain amount that we can tap into, but whatever the case, we do have our limits. Knights have their weapons, but they too have a limit on the duration of it. Negaverse Agents on the other hand don't really have magic but their weapons are much deadlier." It was a bit silly. He understood the reason as to why the Order weapons were they way they were, to protect, not kill, but one would think it would have evolved after life in the Universe had practically been wiped out. Perhaps it hadn't caught up yet?

"Interesting," Athalia replied. Kami had given him a considerable amount of information, particularly in relation to his own abilities. Granted Kami had mentioned he wasn't entirely sure of what caused their limitation but he had given it a guess and once again, it came back to his source. The more he dwelt on it the more it became apparent that he would have to find a way to connect to it.
"Well if that's the case I'll have to consider my options carefully in the future," he agreed and shook his head. "If I'm only going to have limited resources then it would be advantageous to get the timing right on when I use them," he chuckled. While some of his failures may be down to exhaustion, he'd chalk most of them up to his age at this point in time.
He would find a way to fix that.
"All the more reason to make sure that we can do more than just fling magic if that's how it's going to be though," he murmured. "I don't have issues throwing a punch but I would have concern for those who don't know how, if their magic runs out it sounds like they're vulnerable." He sighed softly at this, acknowledging that perhaps the Order had some things that it did need to learn and adapt to. You could still be honourable while being adequately armed, hamstringing yourself for the sake of benevolence was a touch foolish in his eyes.
"So is it generally accepted that when we run out of magic we run away?" he hazarded. He didn't know how others worked, but he suspected he might be a little more inconvenient and stubborn than some of them...

Kami shrugged. "Depends. I mean if you're a Super going up against a General, I would generally advise it because they have more power, but if you're about the same level, then it can be pretty evenly matched, at least if you can dodge any weapons that they have. That's the problem. I mean, Knights have weapons too, but they're more defensive you know?" At least from the ones he had seen. Granted that was only a few, but it still felt considerably weird that they didn't have a real way to fight back without magic. Perhaps they just needed more Knights then? The Knights could be the "shields" so to speak, then the Senshi could finish the Agent off? He hadn't tried it, but it might be possible. "It's why I don't see moves used often. And I don't use them myself. Because there's always that "what if I need it later" type of thinking. It's annoying to be honest, but we have to deal with what we've got. Which is why we need more basic training." He certainly hadn't known how to fight when he had been awakened, and he was sure that was the case for quite a few more. "So yeah, it really helps when we have more Senshi like you around. Someone that can help those who don't have even the ability to stand their ground in a fist fight let alone against a weapon."

Athalia's expression may have been difficult to read in those moments given that it flickered between concern and something akin to determination. He might not have liked the news, but what Kami had given him was valuable insight and it was something he could use. He appreciated the honesty and the other senshi was being particularly candid even if the news he was giving Athalia wasn't particularly 'good'.
"Then it sounds like we have our work cut out for us then, doesn't it?" The man smiled at last. He couldn't do this alone, if he wanted to find a way to affect change in a positive way then he would need to find others like Kami who were willing to try. Not all of them would succeed, in fact there would be some that simply couldn't fight even if they tried and that was okay, what was important was that at the very least his own kind began to recognise what strengths and weaknesses they had.
...In the end, maybe they could all work together to achieve something epic.
"I can certainly help teach folks how to take a blow or two," he refrained from referring to the weapons for now, until he saw these himself he had no idea whether they were talking swords or something more magical. Either way, once he found out then maybe he could work out a way to help counter them, even if it was only to block, dodge and run from them in the end!
"But if you wouldn't mind giving me another shot later when I've worked this out," he waved to himself, perhaps referencing his magic. "I'd appreciate it. If my magic is limited then it's for the best I learn how to use that as well, make sure that I'm just as prepared as the rest of you," he added.
"If that's all right of course, I'm aware you may have other obligations," he finished. He wouldn't impose, but if he had someone comfortable enough to fling magic at him until he mastered his own then it would be handy!
"Until then, I'll err on the side of caution in relation to anything too powerful."SSBrosB Almost fin I think, couple more posts? n_n
