Eihari Post 1
After once again finding time to herself that she could sneak out with her instrument, Eihari was sitting on a fallen log in the middle of the jungle. She wasn't too far from the main path so she wasn't under threat of being lost thankfully.
As she sat she plucked a few strings and adjusted her guqin in her lap. When she was sure she had a position that wouldn't risk the music maker falling to the ground she settled. Eihari took a deep breath and let her mind go blank. She found that was the best way to get a tune to flow into her fingers. After a moment she was strumming away. At first it was a mess of notes that didn't mix all that well, until finally her ear picked out a tune and went with it. Her brain told her to keep up a certain sound and her fingers followed suit. Soon her voice was added to it, as slight humming to mix into the air with the vibrations of the strings.

Ujiri Post 1
Having an attack of boredom, which was a common occurrence lately, Ujiri found himself out for a walk. It was a quiet walk. No one to accompany him. No one to chat with. He didn't even have a familiar to take along with him.
He was sure it was going to be another boring activity but then he heard the soft sound of music coming from the trees. It was enough to make him slow down as he walked. His head moved from one side to the other to try and figure out which way the music was coming from. It was strange to hear an instrument being played in the jungle. Or at least one that wasn't a flute of some kind. Singing he was used to as a few hunters got vocal when they were around their campfires.

She was unaware that anyone was around so she continued to pluck at strings and hum along to the tune. Eih was hoping to create a new song or at least the beginnings of one before she went home.
When a random note changed the tune slightly she noticed she liked it and simply added it in at certain times. It created a softer tone to the music and almost made it lullaby like. Maybe she could come up with a song that would help her little sister sleep? If nothing else she could always save the tune for when she had a family of her own. Even if that was a long, long ways off.

Ujiri Post 2
The music continued and he seemed to locate where it was coming from. Ujiri headed off the path and toward where the tune floated from. When he got close he noticed a girl playing some weird stringed thing on her lap.
It was intriguing enough that he lifted a brow and got closer to her. Moving in a wide circle he tried to make it so that he could be easily seen rather than starling her. From the looks of it if she jumped then that thing would go tumbling and it might break. That wasn't his goal. He simply wanted to listen and maybe even get to know who the mystery artist was.

Since her eyes weren’t closed she noticed the eavesdropper easily enough without being spooked. It made Eihari lift a brow and her humming stopped but her fingers continued to dance across the springs of her guqin. Each note rose into the air and danced for the ears. Because it looked like the half Alkidike was enjoying the sound so much she didn’t stop. It was nice to have someone to play for for once.
Looking down at her fingers, leaving the listener to do just that, she turned her head just slightly so that her own ear was aimed downward. One hand plucked and the other slid up and down the strings, coaxing new sounds out of each one through the vibrations that were made.

Ujiri smiled at the girl when she noticed him. His hand came up in a small greeting but other than that he didn’t try to interrupt her. He was even grateful to her when she simply looked down and kept playing. He moved just a little bit closer, not because he wanted to talk or see, but because he saw the perfect tree to lean up against. Once he was there he let his shoulder rest against the trunk as he folded his arms across his chest. Settled in he listened to the song. It wasn’t one he’d heard before, not that he had a vast knowledge of songs anyways, but it was still nice to hear. It made him curious to know if there were words that were supposed to be sung alongside the notes. It was a question he would save for when she was finished though.

Eihari continued on like that for another several minutes. Her focus solely on her instrument and music. As the last note was plucked and sent into the air she lifted her head again, this time to see if her audience was still there. It surprised her to see the boy was leaning up against a tree. ”Hello.. Hope my music didn’t bother you or anything. I tried to make sure I wasn’t near people.” When learning a new skill there was bound to be several mistakes and those didn’t always sound the greatest, she knew. Eih didn’t want to assault someone’s ears during her practice in case it didn’t go as smoothly as this one had. Something she was truly thankful for. She didn’t think she was ready for the embarrassment of someone else hearing her mess up.

The hybrid boy shook his head at her as he unfolded his arms. Ujiri clapped softly for her a few times then grinned. ”No bother at all. In fact I thought today was going to be boring until I heard you playing.” He then pointed to the thing sitting on her lap. The very thing she’s been playing on. ”I’ve never seen one of those. What is it?” Whatever it was it made a nice sound. Much different from the flutes he was used to hearing. Pick up a reed and blow into it and one could make a melody in no time. He’d even seen a few guitars but what she had didn’t look like one. Or even sound like one. They both might have strings but the tunes that came from each were very different.

She gave him a smile. ”Well I’m glad I could make your day un-boring.” And that she took as a compliment. When he asked her what exactly it was she was playing on she let her eyes drp to the instrument resting across her lap. ”This is a guqin.” Eihari looked up at the boy then. ”Its not a common instrument but its one of my favorites. I like the sounds it makes.” To her it had an ethereal sound that easily captured the attention of everyone’s ears. And as a Minstrel that is exactly what she wanted to do. She wanted everyone’s attention to be directed at her when she played. She wanted to make rooms fall silent as they heard her play. Of course that was the goal of every Minstrel so she couldn't really claim it as something personal.

”Guqin.” He repeated with a strange look on his face. ”Never heard of it.” Ujiri pushed away from the tree he’d been leaning up against then and decided to get a bit closer to the girl. With a small tilt of his head he looked at the strings and wondered if he could make it sound as good as she had. ”So.. That song just now.. Are there words to it?” He might be showing his lack of musical knowledge right there but he didn’t care. There was too much curiosity to leave his questions unasked. ”It just seemed like there might have been more to it that I wasn’t hearing.” He looked up at the girl then so that he could give a somewhat sly smile. ”I didn’t make you nervous, did I?”

So he’d never heard of a Guqin either. Eihari sighed. That seemed to be the trend lately. Though she didn’t really hold it against anyone. In truth the only reason she knew what it was was because she’d read about it in a book and seen only one other person have it. Which is why she was surprised when her mother had brought one home from the market. Likely it was an old one that someone was getting rid of. It didn’t matter, she was pleased to have it.
As he mentioned that it sounded as though he wasn’t hearing the whole piece of music she’d played she blinked at him. Her blank expression turned into a roll of her eyes as she looked away from the boy. Make her nervous? No! She was a performer! ”No, you didn’t. I just didn’t think you wanted to sit there and listen to me play all day.” And she was curious to know what he thought about her playing.

The roll of her eyes wasn’t missed and in fact it made Ujiri grin a bit. If it was that easy to annoy her then he was going to have fun with it! It was almost as easy as annoying his twin sister! He had a real knack for that. ”Well, maybe not all day, but I could listen for a while.” He nodded his head at her.
Lifting a hand so that he could point to the instrument he took a step forward. ”So really, were there words to that?” He went back to the song she’d been playing. It had caught his interest so he wasn’t going to let it go easily. Ujiri was a stubborn brat when it came to certain things.

She looked at his hand as he pointed then down the stringed instrument in her lap. So he was truly curious about the words. Eihari finally looked up at him again, this time to shake her head. ”I was testing a new song. No words yet.” Moving both hands to rest gently on the strings she shifted so that she could be more comfortable. ”I want to be the best so I need to practice with all kinds of things.” Which meant she would need to get better at coming up with words to match the notes she played. Especially if she had a captive audience like it looked like this boy was.
Giving him an odd look she straightened her back slightly. ”What’s your name anyways?”

It was a shame there were no words. The sound had almost made it seem like there was a story unfolding for his ears but he couldn’t quite make it out. Ujiri smirked when the girl said she wanted to be the best. Didn’t everyone? ”I’m Ujiri. And you?” If she asked for his name then he could do the same, right? Besides, he thought he knew all the hybrids around and he’d never seen her before. So unless they just moved in, she was hiding her whole life. ”I’ve not seen you before. You new?”

”Name’s Eihari.” She thought about extending her hand for the boy to shake but feared dislodging her Guqin. Instead she smiled at him. ”Ah.. Not exactly. My mother didn’t like us going too far from home before. Worried someone might kidnap us.” Her shoulders lifted up a bit. There had been some rumor or another that her mother had heard about sisters vanishing and it made her paranoid about Eihari and her sister.
