This time in his life was brief but an important milestone. Like his adoptive sister, brother and parents before him, Bipin made his way to the grandfather tree. His mother, Tempest, had asked him if he would like for her to accompany him. He had politely declined and said she would be the first noul he sought out afterwards. He now towered over his mother and her youthful behavior made her seem like she was younger than him. He could only smile lovingly down at her when she gave him her usual goofy grin. As he approached the grandfather tree’s plateau, the image of his mother’s grin flittered by and Bipin smiled to himself. Now was the time to clear his thoughts and prepare himself for this vision quest.
He quietly laid down at the base of the plateau and closed his eyes. He cleared his mind of stray thoughts. When they appeared, he acknowledged it and then sent it on it’s way. Outer nuisances were usually harder to set aside. In the barrens, the sun was the primary issue. It burned along his back and nose, but he set that aside with some difficulty. Sounds also would get his ears twitching and he would ignore it. When Bipin felt he had successfully cleared his mind of intrusive thoughts and outside nuisances, his eyes opened slowly. He rose to his feet and gazed up at the plateau, nodding to himself, he ascended the it and arrived at the based of the massive oak. It was truly a spectacular specimen and it took his breath away.

A still quiet passes over the plateau. Hushed silence that is almost deafening. Grandfather tree's roots seem to shift and reach out as Bipin approaches.

Bipin watched as his world view changed from the grandfather tree to somewhere in Homewood. He breathed in deep the sweet scent of the flora that surrounded him and sighed. Walking through the trees, he stepped out into a small clearing that looked like it had been tilled and planted. Numerous sprouts have popped up from the soil and stretched towards the sky with their vivid green baby leaves. Bipin smiled, lowering his muzzle to nudge one and breathed in it’s scent. He wondered what kind of plants these sprouts were destined to be.
The sounds of chewing and delicate stems snapping caused his large ears to swivel forward. He looked up and out towards the center to find a couple creatures he’d never seen before. This clearing was full of surprises, he thought inwardly. However, dismay set in as he watched the two creatures mowing down the sprouts like no tomorrow. That can’t be good, he thought, at the rate these two are eating, they would decimate this entire clearing. Species with specialized diets have a harder time in a changing world, especially if the food source is limited. Maybe there’s a more bountiful option that these two would consider, to give this plant species a chance.
Bipin would have to think and work quickly. He turned around and trotted back into the forest in search of low growth plants that might interest the creatures. He found a basket among some tools left behind. He moved the basket to a spot where he could fill it up easily. Bipin picked mouthfuls of a variety of plants that grew low to the ground and added them to the basket one at a time. Once he felt he had enough variety, he picked up the basket and returned to the clearing. The creatures were still happily sucking down sprouts and didn’t flee as he approached.
Setting the basket down, Bipin pulled out his assortment and laid them out one at a time before the creatures. Both paused in their grazing to watch him lay them out on the ground. Bipin looked to them and then to the plants, he selected one and ate a stem to show that he wanted them to try it. They looked up at him, watching him eat something that wasn’t the young shoots. They moved closer and sniffed the plant clippings he had eaten from and decided to nibble on them to try it. It wasn’t quite up their tastes and they quickly abandoned it. So Bipin nudged another pile of clippings towards them. They repeated this exchange til they had worked through the selection. They seemed to not mind at least two of the offerings that Bipin had set out and even finished those. They sat back and looked up at him expectantly, did they want more?
Bipin nodded his understanding and turned back towards the forest, he looked back at them and tossed his head to say “follow me”. They looked at each other and then back at Bipin before following after him. He walked them over to where he found the plants they had preferred, hoping that maybe this would tied them over for now. The sprouts needed time to get big enough to handle being eaten. Once he was content with leaving them to their grazing, he returned to the clearing and cleaned up the plant cuttings and carried them out in the basket. He spotted a composting pile full of discarded weeds and tossed them in, setting the basket back with the tools.
He gazed back towards the sproutlings and smiled.
