Wait. Arm? Skin? Arm?!
Carmen stared down at a distinctly human arm in disbelief, and it did indeed seem to be attached to her. She ran her hands over herself (and was thankful no one else was around, because that probably looked super awkward), and she felt... human. She'd heard of the phenomenon of Mauvians acquiring humanlike form, but such a thing had never happened to her. Perhaps something out there sought to give her a boost?
Except something was wrong. She didn't have her cat ears or tail, and humanoid Mauvians were supposed to have them still. Furthermore, she felt absolutely nothing magical in the area, but in a different way. It was a complete null value, a total lack of even the sense for magic.
No cat ears or tail. No magic. Carmen's worst nightmare had come true, albeit in a different fashion. She had developed an irrational (?) fear of losing her Mauvian powers and becoming a regular cat. She had indeed lost her Mauvian powers, but she had turned into a pure human instead.
She stared at her hands, put them on her head where her cat ears were supposed to be, and she screamed in pure existential horror.
