Prompt The world has opened to new possibilities. Where once they thought they were alone, now they discovered creatures never before imagined.
How does your character react to the introduction of Kahikina to Tendaji? This prompt can be anything, a way to cope, a way to learn more, even the first time they meet the other race. The main focus is discover and evaluation of this new world
Cahira had gotten used to going to Oba in the past five years. Out of all of her siblings, she was the one who traveled the most with their mother when she went to visit the dancing school. It was amazing to see the giant stone estate turned into a vibrant place full of young, energetic faces who always swarmed Shadiya with presents and attention. Shadiya had earned the love of many who had no where else to go save for the school. It was a great place for expression and offered shelter for free to those truly devoted to their crafts.
Such a student had graduated and now worked at a place known as the Red Amaryllis. Cahira had heard the name of the establishment before but her mother had never allowed her to tag along until today. It was definitely interesting to say the least. Cahira found herself walking around the entry way while her mother disappeared to socialize with familiar faces, "Behave she said." Did her mother really expect her to just simply stand and wait around while she got to have fun? Cahira crinkled her nose as she walked in circles before finally peeking her head to try and listen in on the people inside.
A lot of commotion was about the new continent. Apparently the people there spent their time underwater and actually preferred that to living on land, "So weird." Cahira commented quietly under her breath as she leaned forward and listened into the chatter, "Just a bunch of gossip, I'm sure." Though wouldn't it be so cool to find people who could breathe underwater? If anything she would be jealous since she loved the ocean so much! Still she was wary. What did this mean for Tendaji? Were there more things left to be discovered in this world and would they always be so happy to be found? It was another reason she wanted to become a knight. If she could fight then she could defend everyone. That was how she would cope with this situation! And then maybe, just maybe she would even venture overseas to make certain that these new underwater dwellers were no threat to her home.

It was just another day for Nedrima, her lessons had been earlier in the day and she was now busy in her chores. Keep the lobby clean was her task today. Helping any customers finding things and cleaning up whatever really. It was while she was picking up a glass from a table that she heard a young woman speaking quietly to herself. "From what I've heard they're not just rumors. If so, the rumors are surprisingly with very little differences." Nedri almost hadn't realized she had spoken her thoughts out loud until she was finished. "Oh, I apologize for interrupting you." Her cheeks turned pink in a blush.

Cahira blinked with surprise when someone actually answered her, "Huh?" The young hybrid twisted until she found herself face to face with another girl who was obviously not a pure blood Oban, "Ah. No worries." Cahira grinned happily, "Honestly it's my fault for just walking in and talking to myself. But do you really think this new place is legit? It just sounds so strange to think that there are races who live underwater." Like usual she was not shy of strangers and even walked a bit closer to the girl, "Makes me wonder if there are others hiding in our oceans closer to home too. Do you think?"

Nedrima smiled kindly as the girl turned to her. No escape now. "Do I really think it's real? Hmmm, yes and no. Yes because everything people are saying is pretty consistent. Sure there are some that start spouting some other stuff but you can generally tell that they're hearing it 3rd or even 4th hand. No because it's hard to fully believe something you haven't seen yourself especially with only words and stories as proof so far." She shrugged. "Really do we ever know? The land is so big, there could be more islands, more hidden people. It's completely possible there are some closer to home. The dretch, for example, had been right under our noses and disappeared right from under them as well." Nedri thought for a moment as the girl got closer to her. "Nothing is ever actually impossible, though, is it?"

"I suppose you're right." Cahira actually found a shiver going down her spine as she truly thought about it. They lived in a huge world with many unknowns and countless possibilities. She couldn't imagine what would show up next, "I suppose it keeps us on our toes at least. That's why I plan on becoming a knight. I want to be able to fight at anything that comes this way. Even if they say the other race is nice we don't know that for sure. I would rather go and see them for myself first." She nodded her heard with determination before taking a moment to study the other girl, "What about you? Do you just prefer to take it day by day or do you have plans for the future?"
After a moment she flushed lightly, "That is if you don't mind spending some time just talking! My mother is in here somewhere meeting someone so I would love to pass the time with someone else, especially near my age. I'm Cahira by the way."

The girl had a point, Nedrima thought, and was very brave to want to become a knight. "You're not wrong, and it's admirable that you feel that way." They really didn't have any way of knowing if they were safe or not, from the unknown or the known. "It's nice to meet you Cahira! My name is Nedrima. I have some plans of the future and life is pretty consistent for me. I plan to become a dancer and will likely inherit this place from my mother since none of my older siblings are interested. I don't mind talking, worst thing that could happen is they give me more chores, not like it wouldn't be the first time." Nedri joked.

Cahira beamed, "Why thank you! Some of my family worry it's a bit too tough of a goal but at the same time at least they don't say it's impossible." If anything surely they just worried about her travelling too far away! Her older brother was already going to far away countries and her older sister had lived in Oba for the past five years learning her craft. If Cahira ventured all the way to the new islands would they be okay? She bit the inside of her cheek thoughtfully before shoving away such thoughts. She was going to be a knight and protect them all! She could only get stronger by facing off against whatever new races appeared. If they threatened her home then she would fight them back.
"Nice to meet ya, Nedrima!" Cahira grinned, "I didn't realize I was talking to the future owner. It's a really nice place you have here. My mother is a dancer and actually opened a school in the capital. Dancing is amazing. I've tried a bit but I'm no where near as impressive as my mother. I would love to see how you dance sometime. I'm sure I'll be here more often when we visit Oba." She realized she was chatting up a storm and flushed, "Well if you get more chores because of me I'll have no choice but to help you out if I can. Okay?"

Nedrima couldn't help but blush and scratch the back of her neck in embarrassment. "I mean-I'm not. Well I am. I'm just not that great of a dancer yet so I'm probably not worth watching." She laughed it off but she did hope one day that people would want to come watch her dance like they did her mother and all of the other dancers. Nedri leaned against the counter behind her and looked out over the lobby. "I appreciate it though I'm used to the extra chores, sometimes I get caught pestering patrons with too many questions, especially about the new water people lately."

"To be fair I guess I'm not that great of a knight yet myself. So don't worry!" Cahira laughed lightly, "But maybe in the future we'll both be great at our passions." She would just have to travel soon and even see about exploring this new continent when she felt better prepared. It made her think, "I heard that the underwater dwellers are interested in trading information and goods with us. I wonder what type of fighting styles and dancing they might know."
Cahira grinned as Nedrima confessed about her talkative nature, "I suppose then it's a good thing I stumbled into you. I'm pretty good at talking and I love discussing interesting things! Hear anything good from your patrons? I know some people are scared that the underwater dwellers will drag them down into the depths if they're not careful enough while others want to know if they can actually choose to be on land as long as they like. Would you chose the ocean over land if you could?" Oh that was a good question! What would she choose herself? Cahira tilted her head and tapped a finger on her chin thoughtfully. Well I couldn't have a sword as much underwater unless there's some sort of material that doesn't rust....so maybe I would be stuck with land. Oh but she did really love the water! Wouldn't it be cold and did their skin get wrinkly from the water? Probably not...but it was interesting to think about!

"But you're on your way and it seems like you have what it takes." Nedri complimented. This girl seemed so strong on the outside and on the inside. "Do you think you're going to go overseas and meeting them? It just tends to be the same things right now. How they live underwater. How good of artisans they are. So I figure we'll probably start seeing a lot of trade come through. I personally think I would still choose the land. I don't really know how dancing in the water would go, though I'm sure they have a way for that too!" The girl laughed. Cahira was pretty interesting! Nedri wondered how long she would be in town.

Cahira's cheeks darkened at the compliment. Was that true? It was definitely nice to think so! If Nedrima could say that she had the ability to become a knight then surely it was possible! "Thank you." Cahira twisted her fingers together sheepishly, "I'm debating it. It honestly depends on how my family reacts to the idea. If not then I'm still going to travel and find some mentors. I really want to practice swordsmanship." Her gaze lit up at the thought. It was pretty fairly obvious that she was passionate about learning swordplay.
"I wonder what type of trading goods we'll find. You think they have lots of pretty gems under the sea?" She thought of the rare pearls that some of the Matori divers found. Those were super pretty. She could only imagine what else was hidden far beneath the waves, "I think I would choose the same. I can't imagine fighting in the water." She shook her head, her crimson hair bouncing along with the movement, "But you're right! It would be interesting to see exactly how they manage to do those things underwater!" Hopefully without drowning to witness it first of course.

Nedrima nodded, she could understand that. "Even though your family might not want you to I bet its just because they're trying to keep you safe." She said cheerfully, knowing how protective her family could be. "I honestly don't know what kinds of things they would have. What are their clothes made out of? I'm sure our fishermen would be pretty interested in that." Yes, Nedrima could see many ways they could benefit from people who live in the water. New ways of doing things, new materials. New lots of things. The next couple of months as the two people were figuring things out would probably be interesting!

"Yeah, but I can't get stronger so that I can protect them one day that way." Protested Cahira with a small pout, "So at least hopefully I can travel around Oba and other countries more if not the new islands. It's like learning dancing...the more cultures you visit the more skills you can acquire." Perhaps it would be better if she stayed on the mainland. Could underwater dwellers really teach her something like swordsmanship? I don't know about that. From some of the gossip it seemed that they were more interested in learning fighting from those of Tendaji while sharing crafting instead. Her older sister would like that, but not Cahira.
"You think? Maybe it could be more water resistant." Cahira nodded as she followed the other girl's suggestion, "I'm sure they have pretty jewelry too. At least if one of those pieces my mother showed me were really from over there. It was really pretty." Ah, the perks of being a descendant of a noble family with access to higher markets. Her mother would on occasion treat her daughters with a special item and Cahira was hoping that something would be coming her way soon. Preferably a sword instead of a necklace, but maybe one from across the ocean would be a nice surprise if so.

Nedrima understood that too. Cahira seemed so brave wanting to travel all over the place. Her siblings were recently talking about traveling but Nedrima couldn't decide if she wanted to go with her family or not. She sighed slightly. "You're right, I just think it might be difficult to actually travel everywhere and learn all different kinds of things...." She paused for a moment, regathering her thoughts. "If they just focus on things that aren't...well....violent then I'm sure that what they have is pretty incredible. I look forward to seeing their things traded over here!" Nedrima nodded as if to punctuate her point. "Nedri! Can you go help your sister in the back?" One of the other dancers asked Nedri while pointing towards the back door. "It appears I have to go, it was nice meeting you Cahira. Good luck on everything and I hope to see you around." She said sincerely before turning off on her new task..

"Ah, okay." Cahira beamed at the other girl, "It was nice meeting you as well! I'll have to swing by again another day!" She waved as Nedrima turned away. She just needed to find her mother now and see what she was up to. Pursing her lips thoughtfully, the hybrid gave one last farewell wave towards her new acquaintance before turning away. It had been a nice enjoyable talk with Nedrima and she couldn't wait to tell her mother about it. She was so glad that Shadiya had brought her along today! Now if only she could have visited earlier then would she already be friends with the other hybrid girl?
Oh well. At least they had met now! Cahira smiled happily as she skipped along and sought out her mother.
