"You know," Toby's mom had said while he was eating breakfast, just before running off to school, "You should think about getting a job this summer! You're old enough now, so it's about time to make money outside of chores and allowance." "Let me think about it," Toby replied, and stuffed a wad of cereal in his mouth. He did think about it. Job meant less time for senshi-ness. He swallowed. "I'd really rather not," he concluded. His mom looked extremely nonplussed expression before she said, "Okay, let me rephrase. You're gonna get a job, or I'm not paying for all that cosplay stuff on your list." That settled it, he agreed to look. There was still time, she wasn't demanding he do it right this second. But still... After school, he did what he tended to do...drift his way back to Izzy, and follow him on back to the Cafe. He didn't always stay there, sometimes he would wander off and let him actually do a job for once instead of constantly pestering... But along the way, he got an idea. He waited all the way until getting there, and inside, to abruptly say, "Say, Izzy! My mom says I need a job...what do you think about me maybe working here?" He grinned at his suggestion...and the fact that saying it right there meant he was very likely overheard.

After school was always the same. Skates on, and Zoomies back to the cafe! Though, these days, he managed to make it just a little slower so that his Toby could keep up. Heh, his Toby. It was weird t think about, but he was happy with it all! So distracted he was with the conversation that kinda just babbled anywhere, that by the time they made it to the cafe, and he was in the back getting changed with Toby hanging out still bothering him, made him fully pause. He had to think it over a couple of times to confirm what exactly had been said, and then gave a very quick answer. "No. Dude, no, you'd be so distracting! Can you imagine? All those people looking at you being all cute and peppy. I'd have to make sure you actually work! Nah, go get a job somewhere else!"

Toby couldn't help but laugh at the reaction. "Well, wouldn't that be a point in my favor, then?" He swayed from side to side playfully, then put an arm around Izzy. "If everybody's lookin', they'd wanna stay longer and buy more drinks, right?" He leaned in more, grinning. "So sounds like you do think it's a good idea. And it'd be fun! You know me, I'm real diligent, after all." It was mostly true...He only sometimes slept in class, and usually did all his work.

"Nah, nope, not at all." While he did try to move away from Toby at first, he gave in with a loud 'ugggggggh' and reached up to pat his head. "I don't know about diligent. Or anything really, nope, didn't pay no mind. Do you really think it'd be a good idea though? You clearly can't keep your hands to yourself, you'll be too busy looking at me to work!"

With an exaggerated little, "eee~" Toby grinned at the head pat, then let go and straightened up. "Nahh, that's not true! I can definitely keep my hands to myself when I need to. And it'd be a great idea! I can take orders, or play music, uh...maybe not so great at most of the crafts, but I can learn, too!" And sure, he might watch Izzy a bit, but who could blame him for that?

“You know, I doubt that.” They were both guilty of being too touchy-feely at times, but now that the cat was out of the bag and they both admitted they liked one another, it only seemed to get worse. Not that he minded but at work, that could be a little hnggg.... Stressful, to say the least. At a very convenient moment, his mom decided to knock on the door, then come in. “Oi, what’s taking so long! You’re supposed to be downstairs already—- Oh! Hello Toby! What are you doing here? I’m sorry, but Izzy needs to work today, he keeps skipping too much!”

Toby couldn't help but laugh at Izzy's doubt. "Hi, Mrs. Deluna!" he said with a little wave. "I was just telling Izzy that my mom wants me to get a job this summer, and I thought working here would be a good idea." He lightly nudged Izzy with his elbow and grinned. "And look at that face of agreement he's making!"

“Oooh? You’d like to work here? I think that would work!” Mrs. DeLuna almost seemed overjoyed at the very idea of it! “W-wait, mom, you can’t! I mean, he doesn’t know anything about how to work in a cafe! And he’s going to distract me all the time!” “Quiet, boy. Half the time you skip work is because of Toby this, and Toby that! If he’s here, then that eliminates that issue! So go ahead and lend him a uniform and hurry up downstairs! We’ll discuss the details then!” With that, she simply left the room, leaving a slightly steaming, and confused Izzy in her wake. ... Ugh. “Fine. Fine.” He conceded, going to his closet and pulling out another uniform for him to wear. “Just... Hurry up.”

Toby grinned at the agreement, quite happy to have her approval...although his look quickly shifted to one of surprise. He raised a finger and opened his mouth, but she was already gone. "I...didn't mean today," he said softly. But then one of those maid outfits of Izzy's was in his hands, and he shrugged. "Trial by fire I guess, huh?" he grinned, and briefly looked a little nervous. He had kind of wanted to wear this, right...? Operation: Maid Boy Toby was clearly well underway!

"Oi, don't you grin at me! You asked for this. I don't know what you really expected." Izzy couldn't help it, he was somewhat irritated at how this all went down. He liked Toby alot but... Something told him that maybe working with him wasn't a good idea. Who knew his work ethic? Who knew if they would even get along on the same side of the table? ... And who knew how jealous Izzy would get if he saw Toby flirting with other people for tips? All of that added to the scowl clear on his face as he finished tying up his apron and stormed out the door. "Go talk to Mom when you're ready, she'll tell you what to do. And make sure you wash your hands!"

"I guess I did," he agreed, getting started on swapping his clothes out. Something about the whole outfit made him giggle. Maybe it was the striped socks? Whatever the case, he didn't seem to quite get what was upsetting Izzy, so he just waved and replied, "Okay! See you soon~" Once he was dressed and cleaned up, he felt only slightly self-conscious about it. After all, Izzy wore this stuff all the time. And when he was Nix...well. This was nothing. All the same, he adjusted the apron, and his tie, and his socks, incessantly as he made his way to Izzy's mom...his new boss, apparently. He put on his best grin for her and said, "I'm all set!"

Of course by the time Toby came back downstairs, Izzy wouldn't have cooled off yet. No, he was still there with his scowl, angrily wiping down tables and refilling little sugar pots. When he heard Toby's voice, he blatantly ignored it. His mom, however, was more than happy to see the boy in his uniform and nearly squealed in adoration. "Now aren't you adorable! Perfect, it looks so good on you! Now, I think I heard Izzy say something like... you have no experience. That's fine, no one does in the beginning. But... Can you write an order down from the menu and bring it over? We can have you do the simple things like that for now, and give the crafters more time to do their thing!"

Toby had spared a little wave to Izzy, not worried about moods yet... Instead, he was pretty well focused on trying to do a good job with this. Or, you know, learn how to. He wouldn't want to disappoint his boyfriend, after all. "Yeah, I can write down orders," he said, nodding enthusiastically. "No problem! And I can fill cups and deliver stuff. I mean, I've never actually carried one of those," he mimed holding a serving tray, "waiter tray things, but it shouldn't be too hard, right?"

"... I don't quite know your arm strength, so we're just going to have you do the small things. Drinks, saucers, I'm sure you can handle a slice of cake or two. Anything bigger, and we'll send you some help, okay?" Just then, she could hear the jingle of the doorbell, and then pushed a paper and pen into Toby's hand, along with a menu, both for food and crafting. "Alright now, go seat them, anywhere that's open, hand them that, then come back here, get some waters, and give that to them, and ask what they want, got it? It's alot like TV, so I'm sure you'll be fine!"

Toby looked at her with a wide-eyed expression, which he pointed toward the people coming in, then back at her. He nodded quickly. Definitely tossed right in... "Right! Yeah! I've got it!" he declared, and grasped the pen & paper before spinning around to go greet the people who just came in. He put on his best smile which was only slightly nervous, and managed to not fall over himself as he found a nice spot for them and gave them menus. It was pretty straightforward, it seemed. Before too long, he had a carefully written down order in hand, looking quite triumphant.
