After being cooped up in the house, a consequence of getting into trouble with his mother, Ujiri had escaped the moment he was able. That also meant he went as far off as he could manage in just a few short hours to get some much needed space between him and his overbearing parent.

Now, with a stick in hand, he walked along with a rather bored expression. He swung the stick from side to side, swatting at vines and weeds. Ujiri was on the outskirts of the bustling town now. He thought to have himself a day out and about before returning home. After a few more swats he noticed a trader was busy speaking with someone at the front of his caravan. "What have we here..?" The carts were paused as some negotiation or another was taking place but that didn't interest him. What caught his eye was the cage in the second to last cart. It held some fine feathered livestock in it. He took a minute to look around and make sure there were no guards before he moved over a bit closer. First glance told him everyone with the caravan was facing forward, too busy trying to figure out what was going on, and there was no back guard so that meant the opportunity was a golden one.

Liath had been watching the caravan come in. He loved watching them haggle with each other. All trying to sell their wares for the highest dollar. So many merchants of so many races, it all made Neued that much more exciting. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone who did not look like a merchant come out of the town.

Liath got out his notebook, 'young male? race: Unkown' what was he doing? Liath squinted before determining he needed to move in closer to understand what the boy was doing. Liath crept up through the weeds, normally he would like a bit more cover but the caravan has stopped at a strange place. After moving he was a ways behind the boy squinting trying to make out exactly what was in the cages. 'It seems the boy is interested in some sort of feathered beast' he jot down. Was he going to buy one? Liath waited for the boy to approach the trader sure he going to make an offer.

For the time being he was unaware that someone watched him. Everyone he'd seen had been too occupied with what was happening up front. So Ujiri moseyed on over to the cage and looked at it. The thing seemed simple enough. The latch was't locked it was just trusted to stay in place. Which it would, so long as no person messed with it.

Another look around and he determined he was in the clear. With a shrug and a smirk he reached up and worked the latch until it was undone. The alkidike and leaf hybrid boy didn't swing the door open, as that would be too obvious. Instead he walked away after making sure one good push from the beasts inside would do the work for him. The smirk on his face grew into a grin and he moved into the trees to watch and wait.

Liath's eyebrows pulled up in surprise as he watched the boy open the lock and walk away. That was not where he had thought this would be going. 'Troublemaker' he underlined the word a couple of times. Now he was left with a decision that actually gave him some pause. The right thing to do would be to go close the latch before any of the beasts got out. However, his natural instinct was to let the events unfold and to observe the panic it could create.

He turned his head looking at the boy who stood in the tree lines nearby watching. Seeing him closer it was easier to see he was a hybrid. ' Race: Leaf? Alkidike? Definitely a mix' he wrote before creeping up toward the boy. When he stood only a few yards behind him Liath frowned hard. " You shouldn't have done that you know." He watched the back of the boy.

When he found the perfect place to stand and watch he did so. Same unbearable smirk on his face as before, arms crossed over his bare chest, and the stick in one hand pointed down to the ground. Ujiri was hoping the panic that ensued would be pure chaos so he could get a good laugh in.

When he heard someone speak behind him he half jumped, his arms unfolding as he turned, and narrowed his eyes at the person. Ujiri saw that it was shifter then glanced toward the back wagons of the caravan. "No idea what you mean." It was his hope that this person didn't actually see what he'd done and was just fishing for information. "I'm just watching the caravans." He played it off as innocently as he could.

Liath only frowned deeper as the boy turned his eyes narrowed to match. "I was watching too." he nodded toward the cage that had not yet been opened. "What do you think they will do?" He craned his neck to see around the boy. "Do you think they will scream?" a flash of excitement crossed his face.

Fear was his favourite emotion to study. It simply didn't happen enough around the town. He had spent a lot of time studying laughter and joy, and even sorrow and sadness. Fear, on the other hand, could be something new. "Oh I do hope they scream." He looked to the boy but then quickly back to the cage after all he didn't want to miss the show.

Well crap. So this person had been watching as well? They must have been hidden or else Ujiri would have seen them and kept walking. As it was asked what the caravaners would do he lifted his shoulders slightly. "Not sure.." His eyes went from the wagon back to the boy and his head tilted. For a moment he thought about it then slowly a smile spread. A rather wicked looking smile at that.

"Want to find out?" He asked as he bent down to collect a small rock from the ground. As he straightened he tossed the rock up into the air then caught it in his open palm. "I have a feeling it'll be entertaining either way."

Liath wasn't surprised when the boy said he wasn't sure what they would do. Since he himself also was curious. He hadn't seen the beasts inside the cage, they could be meat-eaters. Turning his attention back to the boy he watched as the rock transferred to his other hand. Would he get in trouble for this?

At the question he slowly nodded, he did want to see what would happen. Perhaps that was the reason the boy did this, to see what would happen. "Yes. But can you hit it from this far?" After all, it was a bit of a throw and wouldn't a rock give away their position? Liath didn't really care, as his curiosity crept upon him. "Yes. Throw it. You know you want to." Perhaps Liath was enabling, but it was all just so fascinating to him.

Could he hit it from this far? "Psh.." Of course he could! Ujiri had one heck of an arm! Compliments of having siblings and two mothers that for some reason liked to train all the time. When the boy egged him on his smile turned into a full grin once more. "Alright. Watch this.." That was all the warning that he'd give.

The rock would be tossed up once more to be caught, this time going into his good hand so that he had the maximum strength for the throw. Then it was launched. It sailed through the air easily and came down on the cage with a CLUNK. The sudden sound and falling object caused the feathered beasts inside to flutter and squawk. That's all it took. One of them ended up pushing the cage door open and with that little bit of freedom the mass of feathery bodies was unleashed.

Loose feathers were sent up into the air as all manner of noise came from the animals. This brought the attention of the caravaners and when they saw the beasts were running free their eyes widened in panic. Several moved into action quickly as orders were shouted to catch every one of the birds.

Liath was surprised at how confident the boy was. He was so sure that he could hit it, had he practiced? He had kind of hoped the other would miss their shot, but sure enough it hit true. What happened next was of the most interest to Liath, he pulled out his journal once more. 'Feathered beasts seem helpless, people are scattered.' "oh, they weren't scary beasts he sounded a bit disappointed.

Then as is a lightbulb went of in his head Liath turned to the boy, "Should we...help? Run? If we stay here they might see us." He was once again observing the boy, he had already deemed him a troublemaker, what would he do in the face of consequences of his actions?

The commotion made Ujiri laugh. At first it was just a smile and a small shake in his shoulders then it went to a full grin and rumble that had him holding his stomach. The hybrid put one hand on the trunk of the tree he was near to hold himself up as he laughed. The caravaners running around chasing the birds as they skittered about brought tears to his eyes.

When the boy asked if they should help or run he shook his head. It would take another second or so before he could talk. "No helping, they'll get suspicious. But running might be a good idea." With that in mind he moved and headed off away from the caravan before the people got wise and started to look for who it was that unlatched the cage.

Liath watched wide eyed as the boy laughed. As someone who never smiled Liath had also by extension never laughed. He did like to watch others and see what they found joy in. 'Finds joy in the trouble he causes' he jotted down before looking up to the boy as he spoke. He has expected that response, no one ever wants to risk facing the consequences. 'Runner' he made another note before the boy started moving and Liath hurried to put the journal away and follow after.

Where were they heading to? Was the boy just going to go home? Liath didn't even know his name. He followed closely behind as if he was to boys shadow. He could still hear the squawking and people shouting as they moved away. Looking up at the boy Liath said in his soft monotone voice "I knew you were a runner." He nodded matter of factly.

He'd noticed that the boy kept writing things in his journal but it didn't seem to bother him much. Once he was on the move away from the scene he didn't look back. He didn't want to know if anyone had figured it out or not. He just wanted to get as far away as he could so it couldn't be blamed on him.

When he heard the matter-of-fact statement it caused him to slow and look back at the boy. "Not hard to figure out. No one wants to get in trouble. Just like to cause it." When they had put some distance between them and the caravan, Ujiri settled into a walk. Now he needed to find something else to do. That bit of fun was done and over with. "Man.. that was funny to see though."

Liath shrugged, "I suppose, but I've seen all kinds of people. People that start things just so they can fix them and be the hero, and people that make other peoples life harder for their own enjoyment. I wondered what type you were. I figured you were a runner though." Liath nodded again. "Do you get in trouble a lot? Get caught in your trouble i mean?"

Liath too stopped walking, he had a few questions as he always did. This boy was confusing to him though, "if you don't even stay to watch the trouble why cause it at all? Though i suppose you did get your kicks from it." he kind of mumbled the last part.

"Get in trouble?" Ujiri thought about it for a second before nodding his head. "Yeah, I suppose so. Sometimes anyways. But usually only when my mother catches me. Or my big sister." But with Subira gone and on her own adventures he didn't have to worry so much about it. His older brother and twin sister hardly got him in trouble.

He looked back toward where the trouble he'd caused was. "I got to see the start of the chaos, and that's enough I guess. You stay too long and people get suspicious." That he'd learned early on.

A small shrug occurred and then he really looked at the boy. "What about you? You didn't stop me or put the latch back on.. and you even wanted me to throw the rock. You ever start your own trouble or just watch others do it?"
