The Past || Ariya had the misfortune of losing both of her mothers before she even came out of her lotus pod. One mother was killed by an Oban in a particularly nasty fight. The other died shortly after of a broken heart. She was unable to continue without her mate. Because of this she was raised by a single woman. It was in fact her mother's best friend, Niesh. It had been discussed when Niesh and her mother were younger that if something happened to one, and their mate, that the other would take care of any children that were left behind. When Niesh learned of her best friends demise, and that of her partner, she mourned. Until she came to know that her best friend had been gifted a pod by Aisha. Once she knew of the lotus she approached Eshe for permission to raise the child within.
Growing up she knew that Niesh was not her mother, since the two had no secrets from each other, but she still adored her as if she were. Ariya was treated as a daughter in a loving home.
Niesh gives Ariya her space though she does like to be involved in the girl's life as well. They have developed a happy medium where the two of them spend a day together every week. It allows them to catch up, if they haven't already, and brings them closer. Ariya enjoys these days with her adoptive mother and even looks forward to them. The reason for the one day is so that they never lose touch with each other as family. Taking more than one day is, of course, allowed and encouraged by Niesh but since she doesn't want to seem over protective she doesn't force it.
When she hit her early teen yeas, Niesh asked Ariya what it was she wanted to do with her life. Though she wasn't able to answer, Ariya is happy to have lessons from her mother as it adds to the time they spend together. Most lessons are about her tribe and Aisha, though there have been some on fighting. Since she has yet to decide on what she wants to become and even a weapon her mother has reserved weapons training for later.
