Ekanite was most certainly not expecting his General to allow him a night to 'hunt' on his own. After pressing to him how important maintaining his quota was, but wanting to make sure he never got himself into trouble or pushed things too far, he was sure she would always accompany him out on his patrols. She had so many rules, and while he was doing his best to remember them all, it sometimes seemed a little silly.
They were supposed to be gathering energy, right? So why did she set a limit on how much he could take from one person, if they were able to take more? And wasn't quota just meant to be the minimum for what he had to turn in? Why would she not let him go beyond it? But she had to have a plan for him, she had saved his life, after all, and she was taking such good care of him now that everything was so different...
He had to just keep his head down, his chin up, and try not to look like a complete goon while walking around that way.
Tonight, he was on his own. That funny sense thing was not tingling as strongly as it normally did when Painite was nearby, so he knew his General was not just following him around. Unless she was powered down, but he did not even think of that as a possibility. She just trusted him to do his job, and there was no way he was going to let her down!
Walking down a dark street, avoiding the light posts and trying to look like a normal kid dressed like a drummer boy walking around at night, Ekanite had to pause for a moment to look around. Just... what was he supposed to do first?

Also in the area and trying to fill his quota was errant Lieutenant Nambulite. He'd snuck a few nice energy grabs off some drunk people and some very tired homeless people, but he wanted something a bit more than that. It'd be fun to meet someone powered, regardless of alignment, whether it was a senshi to hassle or a fellow Negaverse agent to gab with. Sure enough, there was another lieutenant in the area! Grinning like a fool, Nambulite headed towards the other warm spot of darkness, his heeled boots clacking against the pavement. When he got an eyeful of the other lieutenant, he gave him a looking over. Oh, dear. It seemed that this one had not lucked out in the magic fashion stylist department. Awfully drummer-boy looking. Then again, not everyone could look at good as Nambulite. He'd lucked out when he'd gotten his getup, even with the heels. "Greetings, fellow lieutenant," Nambulite said, his grin lopsided. "How goes the hunting tonight?"

"Hunting?" Ekanite echoed, tilting his head and turning to see the other Lieutenant approaching. He thought he felt something weird, though not unfriendly. Like the way his General's power signature felt, except no where near as strong. Though not quite used to what each different feeling meant, he could tell the two of them were similar in strength. Which was awesome. Being able to tell power levels right off the bat, without any special traps or spells, was super cool. It would allow him to know if he needed to be offensive or play in defense mode, or if he could just relax and skip a turn completely when it turned out, like tonight, that they were the same type. "You mean quota? It doesn't go too great, to be honest!" Which he almost always was, "I'm trying to figure this out so Boss doesn't have to waste all her time following me around, but I don't think I even know what to do first. We're supposed to get energy, right? I did that a couple times, but Boss told me where to go before. Now it seems like no one even lives in this city." He paused, then grinned and offered his hand to the other Lieutenant. "Ekanite. Is your night going any better?"

Nambulite gave a noncommittal shrug when asked about his word choice. "Hunting. Draining. Patrolling. Wandering around being cool or not cool. You know what I mean." At least, he hoped Ekanite did. Oh, it turned out he did, good enough. "Yeah, that thing! Meh, it's always feast or famine around here. I swear, you can go from nothing to meeting your quota in one day sometimes. So I guess you gotta be patient, but being patient sucks, so I feel you there." Grinning, Nambulite accepted Ekanite's handshake and offered his own introduction. "Lieutenant Nambulite! As for me, it goes all right. Got a few little grabs here and there. A few drunks and sleepers, you know, the people who won't really miss the energy since they'll probably be resting up soon anyway." As far as he was concerned, those types were fair game for draining. Some people tried to apply justice to their targets, and while he wasn't really that type, he thought the logic worked out here.

Ekanite looked thoughtful, then agreed. Maybe finding people sleeping outside was the best way to go about it. Though he felt bad about picking on people that might already be down on their luck. Or just having a really fun night, he supposed. Not that he knew anything about that kind of stuff. "Boss did say to stick to easy targets. I'm glad you're doing well though! I'll have to steal some of your tips and tricks." Really, he just needed to gather the right skills and strategies, just like he did when building a good deck for his competitive games. He wished it were that easy, though. He'd just pick up a few booster packs and be on his way. Real life, however, took actual practice. "I like that thought. I don't really know why we need the energy, but if we can do it without really hurting someone then great! Just let them nap it off. Hm. Do you know a good place I should go look?"

"That's the only thing you'll be stealing from me," Nambulite said with a cackle. The next question had him looking off to the side, as though his recommendation was just over there (though it really wasn't). "I know a place... but how about I show you instead of just tell you, huh? More productive for us both! We can just grab what's there when we get there." He took a few strides off in the direction that he was fairly sure that it was in, and gestured for Ekanite to follow. "C'mon! Let's go get 'em!" Lithiasaur Almost wrap/wrap on yours?

"Alright, that sounds good to me!" Ekanite brightened considerably, looking delighted to be invited to tag along. He knew it could be annoying for more experienced members of the Negaverse, or even just as experienced but much more confident ones, to let a newbie like him latch on to them and wander around in their wake. But for him, there was no better way than to learn by doing. Even if sometimes those kinds of lessons from Painite left him bruised for a few days. "We'll split it 60 to you, 40 to me, eh?" He laughed, chasing after the other soldier eagerly. It was going to be a good night, regardless of how productive their hunt ended up being. He had made a new friend, after all, and that was just as valuable to him as quota. Though maybe a harder sell to his higher ups, so it was still a good idea to get what energy they could. Thankfully, they had the whole night ahead of them.
