Things were coming to a change with the end of winter. Desert Sand looked forward to the changes of spring. He could smell it coming and often stood facing the breeze with his nose in the air and eyes closed. But more than that change was upon them. Sand wasn't sure what to think about the revelation the alpha had recently revealed.

Spirits roaming free? Sand pondered what kind of spirits they might encountered. He knew some were ready to give chase, never mind the pack was coming out of wintering. They needed food and more pack members. Sand approved the choice to focus on those first before tackling the spirits. He only hoped Storm wouldn't harp on it too much. The pair was going to do their part in helping hunt for the herds.

The lighter twin sat at the meeting place as he waited for his brother. He was eager to get started. Quite probably due to some spring fever. It would be great to stretch his legs once more. And the chance to fill his belly as much as he wanted was also a big driving point. The thought of fresh meat made his stomach rumble audibly.

The winter had been hard on them, few pack members yet enough mouths to feed, things had looked somewhat bleak. Storm had been rather content during the winter though but he was glad for the sprint change and all that it brought. Especially hearing about spirits roaming free. This could be his chance to set them to rest and return them to where they needed to be. They were stealing what wasn't theirs and that... that needed to be stopped. He knew what his brother would say, a shake of his head brought him away from the thoughts. No they needed to be put to rest. The other nice thing about this, not smelling the herb ridden den. There was fresh air about them and he took in deep lungfuls of it.

In the time he had been out wandering though, neither of them seemed to have picked up on anything. That much was clear when he looked at his lighter twin as he came up. The warrior and the healer. At least if they found something and he got hurt he was in good paws. Maybe he could get another scar from this. Wouldn't that be great!

"I take it you found nothing either?" Desert Storm's voice rough as he stood next to the other, giving his brother a gentle nudge. His stomach agreed in kind to the twin's rumbling. They had to find something, or at least a few somethings for the pack.

Desert Sand twisted as his twin brother came up behind him. Thinking of one such wolf gung-ho to go haring after spirits brought his long awaited arrival. Sand shook his head as he laughed at his brother's answering stomach growl. "We'd best find something soon or I fear you might start to think I look delicious, herbs or no."

The whole pack needed to be fed. That was one of the reasons they were out here, despite him missing the security and familiarity of his den filled with herbs. If his brother was going to go chasing after potentially dangerous hares, who better to patch him up? Sand just hoped Storm wouldn't actively try to get new scars.

He booped his nose against Storm's shoulder. "C'mon you lazy mutt. You should get to work and find us dinner." Sand let his tongue flop out as he laughed. The lighter male readily got to his paws though, ready to travel. "Which direction do you think the herds went in?"

The male looked at his brother with mock shock, "Me?" Storm questioned, his voice rising an octave, "Eat you? Never." He chuckled, "You'd be the last one in the pack I would eat if I was truly starving. Have to save the best for last." It wouldn't ever come down to that of course but the point was made. Of all the wolves, Sand was the one Storm didn't have to put a filter on for. He could just be Storm. He didn't have to impress him or make him believe he was anything more than himself. That and the pair of them had that twin bond, that knowing if something was up. His brother was right, they needed to find something and it seemed that they were coming up empty and this was not sitting well with Storm. Not one bit.

"I'm working on it." The male growled lightly as he sniffed the air again. he let his paws take him, maybe this could be a better area to search to the east a bit. "Let's go this way. They're taunting us..." His voice dripping with malice and a cruel sheen glazed over his eyes. "We'll get something...Make no doubt."

Sand chuckled. "I am flattered and touched, or I'd be concerned the smell of herbs would drive you off." He winked as he trotted along. Desert Sand was at least 97% sure his brother wouldn't eat him. If Sand was gone, who would patch up Storm's wounds as expertly as he did? So the lighter wolf was motivated to help find food; for them and for the pack.

He laughed softy as his brother growled. Storm had such a rough and tough exterior that not many broke though. "Do you think they are really that smart? I wonder what drove the herds off their usual pattern?" Sand mused aloud as he followed after his more experienced brother. While his nose could instantly tell the difference between herbs, tracking prey rather baffled him.

"I have faith in you!" Sand was and forever would be his brother's cheer leader. Storm could do anything, except tell the difference between a weed and a useful plant. He chuckled to himself, remember a time Storm had tried.

Storm chuckled at his brother's comment. His twin knew full well that he was just joshing him and that he wouldn't eat him even if it meant surviving. No way could he do that to the only one who actually understood him and who patched him up so expertly. Yes there were other healers but he was quick to snarl at them and a lot of the pack gave him some berth. "The herbs do drive me off." He muttered ever so quietly under his breath, Sand would have to strain his ears to have heard that comment.

"Maybe the spirits made them restless and move. All the more reason to hunt them down if that's the case. Then we might gain favor and get a decent meal and not scraps as we have been." Still he followed the path they were on and even still, no sign of any sort of food. Faith... "At least you have faith. Clearly my experience is doing us no good right now." The male stopped for a moment, taking in the area and assessing. "You decide this time which way to go."

Luckily, Desert Sand didn't hear his brother's muttered comment. He'd been distracted by the scent of herbs as they passed. It was rare he got out this far! Sand wondered why he didn't go out more often. There was so many interesting things here! He was sure some of the scents were new to him. The lighter wolf started to veer off the course his brother had set, interested in exploring the foliage around.

His brother's voice jerked him back onto the task at paw. Right. Herds. And Spirits. Sand looked over at his twin. "If the spirits could have done that, don't you think they'd have done it long before now? Like why now?" He had a feeling there might be something more behind it than just spirits, but he wasn't going to saying just right now.

Sand blinked in surprise as Storm came to a stop and told him to pick a direction. "Me?" His voice raised up in shock. Um what should he do? The male cast around almost frantically for an idea. A faint sweet scent caught his attention. Well why not? "That way," Sand pointed his nose in the direction of the herb he smelled. Storm was going to kill him when he found out.

Shaking his head the male just rolled his eyes at the comment about the spirits. They had to be doing something to disturb what was going on and Storm wasn't going to ignore the signs even if his brother might. He noticed his brother get side tracked by herbs, of course he would that was where his mind seemed to wander a lot to. Mind you, it wasn't bad because despite all his annoyance at the smell and all, the herbs helped him and the pack in the long run.

"Shhh. Shhh." The male gave the smallest of snarls as he finally noticed a lone mule deer, a slightly bigger cousin. He hoped that maybe his brother didn't startle it too badly. It was actually just perfect luck that both the herb his brother had caused them to turn towards had also given them the first chance at a possible hunt for the pack.

His jaws snapped shut quietly as his brother's attention was caught by sight of their prey. Prey? He'd done it? But no, it was just one lone animal. Sand crouched down low and did his best to be inconspicuous. This was absolutely not his area of expertise. Where there was one, there was usually more.

He looked around, but saw no other signs of other animals. Sand looked back at his brother. Was he? Was he going to hunt that large creature all own his own? Shouldn't they report this? "Storm?" He gave a worried whine softly, but otherwise kept quiet. His eyes flickered back and forth between meal and brother.

The darker twin looked at his ever worried brother and although he wanted to badly hunt this thing and drag its corpse back to feed the pack, they were supposed to report it. Curses. "Yes yes. We will go back and let them know. At least there's hope there's more around." Though his mouth was salivating at the thought of their prey out there, ultimately Desert Storm turned his back on it and headed back towards the pack. Hopefully they would find more than just one the next time. They had to find more the next run... that was the promise he was making to himself right then as his paws padded against the ground, they would find more.
