Nambulite was going to do it all right this time, he vowed to himself. He was going to find an Order target, rough them up, drain their energy, and fulfill his quota. Yeah, he'd been on hiatus for upwards of forever, but that just made him more determined to come back with a bang. He was tired of drifting through life without purpose when an avenue for progress was sitting right in front of him. Speaking of which, he'd been tailing a Knight of some sort from the rooftops for a good while. He hoped that his aura would be enough to at least feel annoying to her. If she didn't notice him soon, he was just going to jump on her. Literally.

Pendour was trying to be better about courage. There was maybe something she could do to help those affected by Chaos and to protect the rest, and she was trying to come face to face with the Negaverse sometimes so she could do it. Dread still crawled up her spine when she first felt the aura. She'd seen an agent the week before. Wasn't that enough? She'd mostly come out tonight to see if she could find friends, or maybe take a quick trip up to Neptune if the city turned out to be quiet. She took a turn, and the aura followed. Pendour pressed her lips together. That wasn't how it went, and she knew it. She looked up to the shadowed rooftops above and brought her hands together at her chest, rubbing a thumb over her rings. She was stronger now. It would be okay. It would. "Hello," she called out, voice clear and sweet as sweet. "You might as well come out."

Welp, he'd been spotted. Nambulite harrumphed out loud. "You're no fun," he called down to the Squire before jumping off the roof, measuring his momentum so that he'd land worryingly close to her but not directly on top of her. When he landed, he noticed something concerning: This lady had something up with one of her eyes. It was discolored, and there were marks around it. Something, or someone, had gotten to her. "Dang, what happened to you?" he blurted out. "Did you walk face first into a youma or something?" There was no concern to his words, just a mocking sort of surprise. He gave the Squire a full body scan. Neptune emblems with pretty beads adorned her uniform, and they set his magpie senses aglow. He wanted those emblems and beads and bits and bobs. If this had become his schtick, he wasn't going to resist it. He was going to run with the gag the whole nine yards and collect as many emblems and brooches as possible. Maybe even some starseeds?

Pendour saw him coming, and with her Squire speed, she managed to step neatly backwards so that there was still some space between them. He was staring at her eye, which was nothing new. She turned her head partially to the side so that he didn't have to look at it. She knew it could be a startling thing, but when he kept staring anyway she turned back to meet his eyes, her own gaze steady and careful. It was better, sometimes, when people were direct about it than when they stole glances and danced around the subject. "A half-youma, actually. A general." Her voice was steady, too, although a little color came to her cheeks. It was easier to talk about, now. It wasn't easy. She reached up and popped the prosthetic out for just long enough to show him the empty socket, hoping that would answer the rest of his questions. There was something about his tone that she didn't trust, and though her grip on the ocarina was still tight and growing tighter, edging towards white-knuckled, she stayed still for the moment. "What kind of fun are you looking for?" Why did she get the nagging feeling it involved mocking people while draining them?

Nambulite didn't expect to get grossed out by a fake eye. It happened anyway. The way the Squire just popped out her eye, showed the nothing there, and then put it back in gave him major major jibblies. In fact, it actually made him shudder and emit a stream of bizarre noises to the effect of "brrrrgrblechyuckyikes." Shaking his head, he tried to recover. "What... what general? Yeesh. Talk about sicko mode. Maybe you should take it out more often so people get too grossed out to bug you. Gah." "A-anyway, uh..." Why was he so shook by her fake eye? That made no sense to him but the unnerving was profound. "The fun! Yeah, the fun, uh, I was just gonna have a little tussle with you. Maybe take some of your pretty beads and emblems." He felt his nerve come back as he looked at the pretty shinies on the Squire's garb. "Yeah... I really like the ones with the stars on 'em! I'll grab one of those!" He advanced to try and grab the one at Pendour's waist, but the start was more tentative than it should have been.

"Sorry!" Pendour pressed a hand over her bad eye and turned away, even though the prosthetic was already back in the socket. "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." She knew it was awful and ugly and unnatural. She knew. Her friends said otherwise. Her therapist and the websites she went on, the forums for people with eye loss, suggested getting comfortable with taking the prosthetic out as a party trick. She was trying, mostly with powered other people in the war. They shouldn't have been so surprised to see wounds, she'd thought, but maybe she'd been wrong. Maybe she needed to be more careful. In the meantime, he was reaching for her beads. Her visible eyebrow raised a little, but she didn't move away. "Um, okay," she said, with a tiny nod, the cogs turning in her mind as he got closer. "Here." She let her ocarina vanish, then snapped her belt of pearls and emblems with a sharp tug, and held it out. A few of the pearls slipped off the string and bounced away down the sidewalk, and the rest were at risk of doing the same if he didn't hold it carefully. Her headband was next. She fished it from her hair and handed it to him, and after a moment's pause she ripped the diamond-shaped brooch from her chest and offered that, as well. "Enjoy them, okay? I think they'll suit you," she said with a small nod, and then went to continue on her path. If his hands were full, he couldn't hold on to anyone's starseeds.

Scare wasn't really the right word, more like squick. However, Nambulite was in for another surprise: the Squire was going to offer him her emblems and other pretty baubles without a fight. "Wait, are you serious? You're not even gonna try to fight me off? You're just gonna bribe me?" Clearly, that was what was happening, as soon he found his hands full with emblems and pearls and shinies. And then she just walked away like it was the most natural exchange in the world! "Hey, wait a sec, that's not how this is supposed to go! What am I gonna do with-" Well, duh, he was gonna stick it all in his funky little stash with the Polaris emblem and the Mars emblem. Growling in exaggerated frustration, he let Pendour proceed. "Oh, fine, thanks, whatever, bye, get out of here!" He had a feeling that a Negaverse agent wasn't supposed to take bribes from the other team, but one of the perks of power was bribes anyway, right?
