Enemies and Allies are the other residents of Vykeli, who the noulicorns resurrect.

OOC they are distinct from familiars in that they have 2 stages, genetics, and are able to wield magic. Some are also capable of hybridizing with noulicorns.

Enemies and Allies are those species that existed on Vykeli before the others came, reduced to ash and bone in the blaze of destruction that killed the planet. Some first generation resurrections retain traces of memories from their past lives, others remember nothing and are born again, new.

Enemies and Allies cannot reach the ascended rank and require tree crystals in order to be granted a vision quest from Grandfather tree. With these crystals they have access to powers that aren’t necessarily for the benefit of Vykeli. Each ally/enemy has a specific gift that can only be earned by that species.

                                Enemy refers to predators
                                Ally refers to fellow herbivores

                          GENERAL
Not a native to Vykeli, but a pest brought to the planet by the Others. Strangely, some dire rats have been granted greater intelligence and the ability to communicate with noulicorns and their familiars.

Dire rats are large for a rodent, reaching a foot tall at the shoulder, with long, dangerous teeth. They are omnivorous and will attack young noulicorns unattended. They can be deadly in a swarm. As a highly social species, dire rats are very rarely found on their own. They are intelligent, creative, and capable of fine dexterity which makes them excellent artisans.

                          GIFT
Dire rats can access the gift of Industry.

Dire rats with the gift have power over technology and infrastructure. As the name suggests, industrial rats are hard-working with a fine attention to detail. They have a desire to build and expand. Their diligence can often lead to perfectionism.

Industry is represented by steel grey.

                          BIOLOGY
According to journals left behind by the others, these fearsome monsters were once called “Leucrotta”, but they prefer the term “Bone Crusher.” An apt name for a predator with mighty jaws and a massive bite force. Bone Crushers are carnivorous ungulates that typically reach between 4-5 feet at the shoulder, with females being larger and taller than males.

Bone Crushers have an insatiable hunger and are able to eat just about anything they get their jaws on. Bones, hair, and teeth are no problem for the powerful digestive tract of a Bone Crusher.

By nature, Bone Crushers are social animals and prefer to live in groups. Females tend to have more dominating personalities than males, but this varies between individuals.

Bone Crushers are well adapted to hot, dry environments, such as the Barrens where their remains were originally discovered.

                          SOCIETY
When the Bone Crushers were resurrected, they killed several noulicorns and took off with prisoners. Through the hard work and bravery of a small group of nouls, they were found and the prisoners - including several ascended - were released. These Bone Crushers made a deal to remain out of Homewood… as long as plenty of food was provided for them.

At least one Bone Crusher avoided detection from this group and continues to stalk and hunt inside the Homewood. And with this one, there will be others…

These Homewood Bone Crushers have made a pact with a dire rat known only as The Big Rat. He finds them secret places to hide around Homewood in exchange for protection for himself and his kind.

                          GIFT
Bone Crushers can access the gift of Gluttony.

Bone Crushers with this gift have power over food, digestion, mastication, and hunger. Gluttony users are insatiable: For food, resources, knowledge, power, anything/ They have a strong desire for something that cannot be quenched. Gluttony users are often ruthless, covetous, and insatiable.

Gluttony is represented by dark red.
