Physical Description: Olive-skinned and very tan, Nalvez stands a gracefully lean 6'2". He is boyish-looking bordering on pretty, with large blue-green almond-shaped eyes and a disarming smile. His hair is his pride and joy; very dark russet brown in color, it's thick and wavy and nearly waist-length. He wears it loose at every opportunity, but for work and chores he holds it back in a tail or plait. Nalvez has a noticeable "thinking habit" of putting his hands through his hair, so it's half pulled out of a tail even if he does pull it back. He speaks in a low baritone, which is startling at first; it's rare for him to raise his voice unnecessarily. And he can sing, expected of a harper's son.
For clothing, he wears as little as he can get away with. He prefers to take advantage of the climate at Western and often sports nothing but a sarong. When this is not practical, he prefers lightweight cotton shirts, usually "white"/natural color, with straight sleeves he can roll up as needed,and tunics or vests he can layer as needed, hide or cotton trousers in a dark colors - earth tones usually for everyday. For special occasions, he loves nice fabrics, jeweltone colors, detailed embroidery and beading (enough to learn to do his own at a young age, from his own designs, and skilled enough to barter or sell). Favors tightly-fitted trous... etc., cuts and styles that show off his lean build.
Personality: Playful, impulsive, ready grin. Admittedly not terribly "mature" but is childlike rather than childish; he may be easily distracted by neat stuff in a tide pool, but he isn't going to whine or wheedle if he's reminded there are more important things to do. Really an easy-going guy without a malicious bone in him. Fun, flirtatious, cuddly, with a knack for having a good time while staying out of soap opera (which takes some skill in itself). Nalvez is very smart, just not terribly applied unless there is something he feels is important. As a rule, likes idleness and laziness after long demanding hours at work, though he usually has some bit of needlework in his hands. Rather modest, talented, unselfish, many friends, very reliable.
He knows it's unlikely that he will live to be old, so why not enjoy it while he has it. What he has, he likes. Faranth can take what anyone else thinks of it. As a kid, the sort of boy who would engineer himself a job in the kitchen to sneak extra snacks.
Skills: Getting out of trouble. Finding it to begin with. Knowing when to be serious, and when it is not worth the trouble. Seriously. Great talker/storyteller/schmoozer/mimic. Skilled at decorative embroidery and beading and tailoring.

History: Younger son of several children of Master Narrez, a Harpermaster, and his wife Vallys, the daughter of the Hold's Weavermaster, at Western Hold. When he showed interest and talent in aspects of Weavercraft, he became an apprentice to his grandfather the moment he turned nine. He was Searched for Western Weyr at age 14 and has taken to life at Western quite readily.
DRAGON
Name: Carenth
Personality Carenth is a quietly enthusiastic dragon, eager for her and her rider to be the best they can be. She is as easy-going as her rider, friendly and willing to go with the flow. Steadfast in her duty, she functions best when she's part of a team. She is utterly loyal to the Weyr and to her rider; in her eyes, Western and Hers can do no wrong. Carenth believes full well that she is the most attractive dragon of the clutch, if not the entire Weyr; she's a bit vain about her appearance despite a tendency to overeat a bit, and will require frequent bathing and oiling to look her best (as well as exercise to keep the pudge under control). This dragon is stubborn in her encouragement of Hers to be as good a rider as he is a tailor and embroiderer.

Additional Notes: is annoyed by flights, doesn't participate unless the urge is too strong to resist; flames in short, precise bursts that sometimes puts her too close to the Thread she's trying to sear
Why Me: In Nalvez, Carenth finds a kindred spirit, someone who enjoys life as effortlessly as they do. Both are dependable and reliable when it comes down to the business of flaming Thread, despite their perceived lazy attitudes. They are just taking it easy before the next 'Fall! Carenth feels it's her job to ensure Nalvez lives up to his true potential and rein in his impulsive nature and immaturity; direct that energy towards something productive and good! Nalvez in turn will find the partner he has always dreamed of, and even if Carenth sometimes makes him work for it, he doesn't feel pressured to change. These two are a matched set that bring out the best in each other.
