Name: Kieran Stage: Beast Master (4) Race: Yaeli Gender: Male Personality: Patient as can be. Kieran often doesn't show any inner turmoil when caught in any situation. Rather than seeming to be in a rush the male will often take his sweet time to study a situation. While a storm is brewing outside he is the one to look towards for guidance as even the most fearful of curses don't seem to bother him. In fact, there's almost a mischievous gleam that lights up his gaze in such troubled times. Others may get agitated while waiting on him, but the male must always take his time to think things over and to make certain that he's prepared for any challenge.
Sometimes, however, it may be his mischievous nature that helps him to slowly take his time. The more he sees someone in a hurry, the more tempted he is to linger. Acts of trickery, telling scary stories, throwing out mind puzzles, and other similar acts show this mischievous nature even more. Seeing how others react always intrigues him as he is a curious soul, always eager to find out why and how things operate together.
His curiosity is another strong aspect of his personality. Even when patiently waiting for results, the male still demands them and will push himself to limits that often scare other Yaeli. His demands of others, of patiently assuring he can get what he wants from them, also reflects his own personal demands. If something must be done then he will figure out how to do it. The concept of sacrificing others also does not scare him and in fact the male sometimes expects it to occur. Nothing can be attained for free after all and he will make certain to figure out the best way to achieve his goals.
Figuring things out should be easy for such a knowledgeable character, no? After all he has spent much of his youth and his current time in his home researching. Volumes and volumes of tomes, written by him and his mother, decorate his house and he has made certain to learn a bit of everything. It is almost as if he is a walking reference book himself. Now that he has ventured from Yael into the Mainlands Kieran's knowledge has only expanded and his curiosity will continue to drive him to explore all of these new places.
Description: With frizzy lavender hair that he often ties back, decorated with some beads, Kieran also has the glowing eyes and the darker skin of the Yaeli. His stones are mostly along his stomach and form almost a wing pattern on his stomach. His right ankle also has stones wrapping around it.
Outfit: Casual, light and loose wear. (Often torn up from adventuring into caves and etc) Accessories: His glasses, as they help to bring in details that he normally may never notice.
He also has a locket kept under his shirt as a reminder of his mother and a journal that he continues to carry. It's a replica of several others, already filled, that line his shelves at home.
 History
Kieran was raised mostly by his mother, an explorer who loved collecting stories, and in turn became inspired by her. As a youngling he would love listening to his mother tell about superstitions alongside of her daily adventures. Many would take place throughout Yael and as soon as he was able the boy found himself staying home alone taking care of things there. Their home was actually a huge cavern system that his parents had found and converted into a living space. In it existed a library full of books and his mother's own personal journals which the boy cherished and would read - at least of the books he was allotted.
His father was a different story as his death happened when the boy was barely a youngilng. Honestly Kieran can't even recall what the man looked like, but his mother missed him deeply. Due to that she persisted in spoiling her son and keeping him away from danger. As he grew Kieran began to argue against her desire to protect him until eventually he too joined in her explorations. Together the two explored Yael and went through all the caverns that they could find. In turn his mother would sell things at market -crystals and whatever interesting artifacts that she could find.
Happiness can only last for so long...
As he became older, but was still just a child the boy followed his mother on a more dangerous exploration - one that he was never supposed to be near. In doing so he revealed himself and it was his mother who took the spear to the side for her son's safety. As the extremist chased the woman who dared trespass towards their secret village Kieran found his mother weakening...in order to protect her son the woman sacrificed her own life.
Ever since then Kieran was on his own. He grew up to explore and gained as much knowledge that he could about the world while taking care of his childhood home. Eventually he too became aware of his solitude and a trip to the cavern that he remembered his mother mourning his father in was the start of his own personal change. He too realized that it was not the best to be completely alone and the appearance of a keldari, Aia, who stuck with him pushed him to rethink his life decisions.
While he thought becoming a beast tamer was a great change the surprise laid inside of his mother's unfinished journal. In it was a map to Matori and after much indecision the boy finally decided that it was time. He would go out and finish what his mother started in his own way...as a beast tamer and a master collector.
So now Kieran roams the mainland and collects any knowledge that he can find on the strange earthlings and creatures living there. Meanwhile back home on Yael he has his beloved penpal who receives all of his stories and love whenever he is back home on the rocky island.

Connections:
❤ Kitya & Xenia - his two darling daughters.
❤ Taijana - A very shy and nervous girl who Kieran took adventuring with him while in Yael. Eventually they became friends and pen-pals though one of his very first letters startled the girl into such a panic that she even ventured overseas to find him. They traveled together for a bit and after returning her home to Yael Kieran has found that he has perhaps more than feelings of friendship towards her. In fact his love grew to the point that he proposed and now they have two daughters together.
*Aaricia - A hybrid girl he met in Oba; very unique and interesting. He helped her recover from some wounds and offered any future assistance should she need him.
-Kaimana: A young Matori who Kieran recruited as an assistant for his travels to Belrea. "He's not bad at creating sketches and has a lot of talent, too bad he's often too occupied rushing into danger instead of practicing his art."
Foes
Acquaintances
- Seziah : A young woman who he assisted in the past when he was called in for "pest control"
- Jace : They adventured together in Kieran's younger years and he helped the man with his goal of purchasing a sword.
- Maia: A promising young treasure hunter who Kieran encountered in Jahaur and invited to join his team for an Oban excursion.

Inventory/Familiars Aia A silver/indigo Keldari who has attached herself to Kieran. She's very friendly at least to him and often rides around while coiled around his arm. Hunapo A Snaptrotter that he rescued. "She must have escaped from some traders because none of her kind should be naturally on Yael." Yet she has taken to him and rarely leaves his side, even to the point that she will try resting her head on his lap while he is reading in his study.

The Story So Far... Kieran was never like most of the other Yaeli. He was raised with his mother who was an adventurer and lost his father early on due to a bad accident. Neither of the two were superstitious and preferred logic and experimentation to explaining the natural world about them. When the Extremists moved into Yael, Kieran found his world turned upside down. His mother was caught by some and brutally murdered, something which scarred him for many years.
Living by himself, traveling all over Yael, the boy finally decided to venture overseas to explore the new continent of Tendaji. Along the way he made several friends and bonded with several creatures who have been brought home to Yael with him, including a snaptrotter who is almost always by his side.
During these travels he kept up with a penpal, Taijana. The two had bonded while he was living in Yael and she even came overseas to try and find him when worried that something had befallen the man. Realizing that he was starting to soften towards Taijana, Kieran made his way back to Yael and began dating the huntress. Less than a year later they were wed and had their first born, Kitya. Soon enough Xenia came next and Kieran was happy to finally have a place to call home and a family again. His travels continue, his map making skills deemed valuable by many, and Kieran spends most of his time either on the road or at home with his family. When he is not home he sends many gifts and letters to his girls.
After going to Belrea for a project, Kieran came home to find himself the father of twins. Delighted with their growing family, Kieran spent a couple of years at home to help Taijana raise their new daughter and son. Then the introduction of the Kahi lands found Kieran traveling once more. Along the way he would make more acquaintances and even take up excursions in the Oban desert, the Yaeli making it one of his final projects before hopefully retiring back to Yael or at least retiring to be with his wife wherever she would want to explore.

Ruins It looked like today’s excursion would be an interesting one now that things were finally in motion. Kieran had taken the time to settle into the Oban encampment, the Yaeli taking over from Noelani when she went overseas to Kahi, and now that he had been in the area for a couple of weeks things were starting to fall more into place. Kaimana was also joining him, the Matori being a reliable artist and guard to help them in these excursions. If anything, Kieran actually relied upon him more for his art since the sketches were really good when referencing the artifacts and strange flora and fauna that they found along their journeys. This time though they weren’t in a jungle or adventuring through some foreign islands full of Kahi to map out trade routes for interested merchants, they were actually digging up ancient ruins to try and find artifacts for a museum in Sulburi. The Yaeli at first had been suspicious of anyone from an Oban city reaching out for foreign treasure hunters, as much as he hated having such bias against others there was quite a rich history within this particular country that called for wariness, but after meeting and getting to know Omari the man had relaxed more. If anything it was inspiring to see someone wanting to prepare and make a museum to teach others more about the past and incorporate the arts from centuries ago into current works was quite impressive. It was far more forward thinking than those back home in Yael who shied away from anything new and strange, the Yaeli still wanting to keep mostly to themselves for fear of curses and the like that could come from foreign lands. Of course Kieran had always been an oddball in that regard, the man learning from his mother who enjoyed adventuring and documenting new things that others would normally avoid for fear of superstitions. From exploring and mapping deep caverns that stretched throughout Yael to sailing the ocean and mapping out routes there to now digging around in the Oban desert…it definitely was not a life that most Yaeli would ever dream about, that much was for certain. At least his mother would be proud though and Kieran had quite a collection of tomes and journals now back home, the library hidden deep within the cavern that his family had settled into decades ago only growing as the years went by. After this excursion, Kieran fully intended to settle in with his savings and just spend a whole year going through that study and enjoying time back at home with his wife. If only his children would be around as well. The youngest two were still in Yael, but from what Kieran had gathered both of his oldest had taken their own paths in the world as concerning as such a thing was for a parent who didn’t hear from them often. He had tried reaching out to both, sending out letters to see if he could reach them somehow in port, but other than the occasional response from Kitya it was hard to tell exactly what his daughters were up to in this world. As long as they were safe…all he could hope for was a reunion in the future and for them to all share whatever stories that they could. “Let’s try for that retirement and then we’ll find out where everyone is.” Murmured Kieran as he wrapped the headscarf tightly around his face, the Yaeli relying on the linen to block out some of the sun and to help soak the sweat from around his neck. The slight hood that he crafted with it helped and made him more noticeable for those looking for him in the ruins, the maroon material the only real color that made him stand out from the desert sands since most of his attire was simple cotton with white and tan coloring to help block out the heat. It was still better with some magical aid, the one mage with the encampment keeping breezes throughout the day to cool down those who took their breaks resting in camp before going back out into the ruins to explore more. But since he planned on exploring the cliffs for himself today, the Yaeli was packing supplies with two water canteens strapped right on top of his bag along with a satchel of food and medicine. He didn’t plan on a long trip and hoped that it would be good enough to carry him through until he needed to find supplies elsewhere in case of emergency. There was an oasis that the others had mentioned, a bit further northeast of their camp, and it was a good spot in case of a sandstorm or a similar situation that might force him to stay out overnight instead of returning by evening to the actual encampment.
“Alright, let’s head out.” Kieran checked over his supplies one final time, tucking a fresh journal into the bag along with tools for any artifacts that he might find, and then once he was satisfied the explorer tossed the satchel onto the saddle of the xaraan he was riding for today. “Ready, Rez?” The cream colored xaraan with speckles along his body let out a trill of agreement as the Yaeli mounted and began his departure. Thankfully it was one of their more patient and reliable mounts, Kieran having taken to it once he came to the encampment and was introduced to the few xaraan kept on site for those who were taking trips to explore the edges of the desert. They were here to inspect a territory of what used to be one of the wandering tribes of Obans who had lived moving from oasis to oasis at one point before the great cities of Sulburi were built. Their culture was buried for centuries beneath the sands, the storms only recently uncovering one of the largest temple ruins that the explorer had ever seen. The main body of the temple was where the encampment currently was, the hunters digging around those ruins and checking out the engravings there which told stories of the Oban gods and the dances used to celebrate them while also asking for prosperity. It was those dances and those stories that Omari wanted the most, their sponsor also owning an academy for the arts that focused on dancing more than anything. Bringing back forgotten dances was his goal, the young hybrid working hard with the treasure hunters to examine and translate any relics that they found which could give them more stories about such things. It had started as an idea to just take and store the broken pieces of tablets or the ancient ceremonial outfits that they found buried in stone chests beneath the sands, but then it had grown into a full museum with rotating exhibits that covered so much more than just dance. They had started finding more about medical practices, fighting and even some history about relations between different tribes and how they gathered at this particular spot once a year to truly celebrate the Oban gods, Onos especially. For someone from Yael it was interesting to see how different the Oban culture was and how it had somehow been shared with Matori over their intertwined decades of history, the countries always relying upon each other before Oba had taken over Matori and used them as slaves. It was a bittersweet history, one that could reveal how each culture affected each other while also being tarnished with the acts of cruelty of the Oban people. Kieran enjoyed learning about history but even that revelation had him stumbling when he first learned about it. Perhaps there was some logic behind his peoples’ seclusion, the Yaeli not wanting anything to do with the rest of the world even when the foreigners found them again. Not that the Extremists helped, banishing them to Yael had only hurt Kieran’s people and his own family. The very thought brought a frown to his face, Kieran urging Rez forward through the desert sands. Eventually the encampment faded behind him, the tents hidden by the sand dunes that stretched across the horizon, and it was the cliffs that greeted him. Gathering his supplies once more, Kieran left Rez to shelter at the base of the cliffs where there was a small stream of water coming from the rocks and some shade for the beast.
“Now to just climb up here.” There were tombs apparently along this area and while Kieran did not want to be a tomb robber, he wanted to see the engravings that others had spoken of. Ceremonial dances would also be written into these walls as instructions to those visiting the tombs, showing stories of lives long passed and also of the rituals used to ease their spirits and send them to the gods. The very thought brought a small frown to his lips, Kieran not even being that religious about his own Yaeli gods, but it was once again just an interesting part of ancient culture he wanted to explore. Others would come in to check out what artifacts that they could find and copy down drawings and the poses, but Kieran would actually go further and map out the tunnels. That was why he was going out here today, so that he could map everything and see how the valley connected with the temple they had just dug out from the desert sands. Was that a gathering place to send off those who had left this world? It would make sense that such a holy site would be so grand, a gathering place to celebrate and mourn lives at the same time for the wandering tribes that were connected despite their constant traveling. They had a system and their trading kept them close with other tribes throughout the decades, the tribes eventually intermingling so much that their growing population found it easier to build cities like Sulburi. At least that was what Kieran had pieced together so far based on the records Nanami and Noelani had left behind when they went overseas and left him with this new project. So far it seemed a good guess on the history of the desert country, the ruins showing that there had been at least this huge gathering place where some of the engravings even slightly differed like each tribe had its own accent when speaking or writing. And over the centuries those accents merged into one as the tribes continued mingling with spouses bringing their own accents over whenever they married into another tribe. It was that common tongue which became Oban and that was the ancient language which Kieran spotted when he finally climbed all the way up and began walking into the cavern entrance that opened up into a tomb. “I see.” Kieran blinked as he looked over at the etchings, the drawings changing the further he continued down a passage. Every other few feet the Yaeli would stop, placing his lantern on the ground, and then he would grab the blank journal and jot down a quick outline of the passage for his map. Eventually he would gather notes on all the sprawling passageways while also writing down whatever engravings caught his attention the most, marking those that he wanted to revisit once the base draft of the map was finished. “I’ll have to bring Kaimana next time.” He mused, looking at the elegant drawings that he had uncovered in one particular passage. The depiction of a young girl gathering water with the god watching over her was interesting, perhaps even a hint that they believed Essd to once be a mortal? “That would make sense if she was so connected to life and death because she experienced both.” Kieran commented with a soft smile, noting this tunnel in particular since he would really like to explore it more. Maybe Omari would like to turn that into a dance and see if anyone would piece together the meaning when the girl ascended into being a goddess? Even if it wasn’t true, the idea was still an interesting story to tell and one that he could easily see the dancing hall enjoying. Though it did make him wonder…who was buried down at the end of these tunnels to elicit such detailed drawings and relics? He truly hoped that his team was the first to be down here, Kieran not wanting to think about anyone robbing this particular spot as he continued forward. Eventually he came to a dead end, the Yaeli confused as he looked about but he simply noted the spot after he had no luck while wandering around for a bit. There weren’t even any traps like some of the treasure caves that he had seen before, almost as if others truly expected that whoever was buried here to be revered without that being necessary. Or was this place just so hidden at the time they relied upon nature to protect her? Either way Kieran was respectful as he moved along and he only took some basic pottery that he found along the way to inspect back at the encampment, the Yaeli prepared to brush off any layers of dust to reveal the painted vases beneath in hopes that they would tell even more stories about this place and those who wandered this desert centuries before.
