Friday at four in the afternoon, Super Sailor Adria had snuck up onto the roof with two full bags of supplies to go to his homeworld and spend a few hours with Kibirev. He had been nervous about some sort of trap, about some sort of ambush, but it was still bright outside--there was no way someone would think to have a big fight when normal people were still out, right?
This was a universal secret--everyone knew that.
He hoped.
He hadn't picked up any energy signatures in the area and was getting anxious, pacing on the roof even as he hid from the streets below. He'd seen people walking, seen cars, and at this point in time he was just so anxious something was going to go wrong he was almost ready to throw up. His phone was out, primed to travel to his homeworld the second Kibirev appeared.
Hopefully before someone else crashed their would-be get together.

Kibirev had a backpack full of sandwiches and writing supplies, as well as several snacks. In her hand, she carried a container full of cupcakes. There was a broad smile on her face as she slipped through the mirror and felt Adria nearby. At least, she hoped that it was Adria. If it wasn’t…well. She could go back through the mirror and flee but…
She leapt up onto the building rooftop and laughed out loud. “Adria! It is you! Good! I was hoping so, but you know, you never can tell sometimes!” Launching herself at the blonde, Kibirev laughed and snuggled close. “…I missed you! I really did. I got us food and baked cupcakes…Did you bring drinks? I have two bottles of water if you didn’t, and if you did…I have two bottles of water just in case we drink it all and get thirsty.”
The only think she felt was excitement, and the very idea of going up to space…was almost intoxicating.

Adria breathed a sigh of relief when he recognized Kibirev's voice and appearance. He seemed a little surprised by the immediate embrace but relaxed into it quickly. "I brought drinks, I promised I would! I've kept them in the cooler and only just taken them out. I didn't have anything that would fit in subspace and it was really bulky to carry around," he said apologetically.
"Well--let's get out of here, are you ready?"
He was eager to be somewhere safer and hooked his arm around hers. "...I think I'm getting a little better at this, hopefully it's not too obnoxious. But, ah--hold on, just in case."
He closed his eyes and focused, pressing the home button on his phone.
The same magical feeling of being whisked away and carried on the wind surrounded them. They were enveloped in a brief darkness--Adria never kept his eyes open for this part--and then suddenly they were basked in warmth and the salty smell of the ocean carried on the wind. When Adria opened his eyes they were on the beach, just by the tall, yellow reeds. The golden sand glistened and the water seemed peaceful.
He exhaled again at the sky as another sense of calm flooded him--the soothing purples and oranges just made him feel safe. "H-here we are," he said, smiling at Kibirev hopefully.

Kibirev gave a little squeal at the feeling, her excitement peaking at the very idea that she was going to space. There were no thoughts of treachery. No fear that perhaps this would lead to her being hurt…this was an adventure, plain and simple. When they finally got up to space, she looked around, her eyes wide. “Oh! What!”
It was more amazing than she could have ever thought. “You have an ocean! You have a…” Kibirev glanced upwards and shivered. “You have the most beautiful sky I’ve ever seen! Adria, this place is…it’s like a dream!” She looked at her friend, eyes sparkling. “This is wonderful! Have you brought your friends here? Have you talked with them?”
She hated to bring it up, but she knew that the subject had to be touched on eventually.
“I think…We should come here a lot…I know I’d like it! I could live her, I bet!” Kibirev reached into her bag and began to draw out the subs she had brought, three of them, each cut in half. One cheesesteak, one meatball, and an Italian. She wasn’t sure which he would like, so she figured it could just be a party and they could have what they wanted. She drew out two bags of chips too. “…Do you come up here often?”

Adria couldn't help but smile at her immediate enthusiasm and he felt himself feel lighter just by sharing with her. This place was like a dream--a dream that he could share. A dream that he hadn't really shared with many people, but there was always the future.
"Uhm...no, I've only made a few trips," he admitted, setting down his own bags and supplies as he tried to help her set up. "...Haven't really shared it with many people. And, ah...I haven't talked to anyone. Yet. I mean, I was waiting for the right time and it just...it seemed kinda mean to just...text someone and then...try to talk to them about...how I feel. I don't know," he chewed on the inside of his cheek.
"I have to figure out what to say and any time I think about it, I get stressed out. But...maybe I'll write myself a script or something while I'm here. Maybe I'll figure it out. I mean...this place is perfect for relieving stress, right? It's...really comfortable and relaxing and...and it's safe here. And I get to have lunch with my friend, so what's better than that?"

Kibirev nodded and took a seat on the beach, still gazing up at the sky, utterly enchanted. “Well…I think a script would work…that…” She finally glanced back towards him. “You know, Adria…that’s what friends do.” She reached a hand out, wanting to tug him down beside her. “I brought lots of food, and we can figure everything out while we eat…we have a while, don’t we? Or…does this place spit you out after an hour or something…that would be mean if it did…”
If she had a place like this…oh. She would stay there forever. A place to really call her own…she could put all of the stuffed animals that she wanted and keep them nice and safe…all of her treasures could be there.
For a moment, she wore a sad smile. “…I’m a little jealous that you have such a neat place. It’s…really cool! I know…I’ll have to figure out how to…do my…we have places. I think. I’ll have to make it nice enough for you to visit me too…”
It wouldn’t be this amazing though. She knew that.

Adria rarely put up much resistance, so when Kibirev gave him a little tug he toppled gently next to her. "I don't think it kicks you out. I almost spent the whole night here once, so it sort of...just seems like it'll take me for as long as I want to be here. I mean, I don't know--at least a day. So...enjoy it for as long as you want. I don't really like to stay alone for a very long time. I mean, it's one thing to be up in your room with people downstairs, but it's another thing to be on a completely deserted world. At least, I think it's completely deserted. That's what I've heard from other Senshi. No people, no animals, no aliens. But. Maybe I'll be here for long enough to search a little more? I haven't really made it past this area. But."
He glanced at her and then back up to the sky.
"Who would want to leave?"
He let out a soft sigh and kept his faint smile.
"What are your places like? I bet yours could be neat like this one. If you could design a world, what would yours be like?"

She nodded, resting against him lightly. “Yeah…I can imagine that it would be lonely if you’re the only living being here…I don’t…I don’t think I’d like that very much…not for very long…and I can see why you’d want to come up here with someone and not just come up alone…”
Taking one of the sandwiches out of their wrappers, Kibirev picked up one half of it and began nibbling on it.
“No, this area is beautiful. You should bring a tent up and a sleeping bag or something. If you’re having a bad day just come up here and take a nap! But um…I don’t really know about our places. I haven’t been yet. But um…if I go. And if I figure out how to make it nice…could we have a picnic there maybe? I think it might be a lot of fun, if you’d want to!”
She took another bite of the sandwich, giving a sudden grin. “I might get a tent too, for my place. It would be nice to have a place to go.”

"You should," Adria agreed. "You should have your own personal space that you can go to when you want to be alone, or when you just want to be in control of things."
Seeing her take a bite of her sandwich inspired him to do the same and he let out a contented sigh at the flavor. It wasn't something he would have ordered for himself--his choices were relatively tame and boring but he liked this; he knew he'd have to ask her what it was so he could get it again.
"I don't think I can come here all the time. It's like...sometimes it just feels like it takes so much energy? But...I'm also new at it, so it might be that. If I get stronger I can go more often, so that's just another reason to keep working. When you go visit yours, you'll have to tell me all about it. I like this whole magic thing, sometimes. It took me a while but it's so neat. I mean, not the fighting and all. I could live without that. But the other stuff? ...I mean, you can walk through mirrors. You must save a ton of time. I'd like. Mirrorwalk to the grocery store."

It was very good advice, and Kibirev nodded, closing her eyes. “I’ll do that. I’ll figure it out tomorrow, see how I can…make my own space.” She was pleased that he sounded as though he liked the sandwich and felt a little thrill of pride that she had picked the right thing.
No spinach, of course but…the fact she had managed to make him happy…made her really happy.
“I like the magic thing too. And Mirrorwalking is really a useful thing, I won’t lie…especially if there’s something chasing me? I can just dive into a mirror and bam! I’m away from the threat. I have to admit, in a flight or fight situation, I am flight two hundred percent.”
Kibirev laughed softly, still resting against his shoulder. “…I don’t know. I like it. The…court is like a family…it took me some time to realize that…I was…pretty salty against them after they…after um. A big situation but…” She sighed. “…I don’t know.”

Adria hummed as he chewed on his sandwich and nodded. When he swallowed, he noted, "Well 'flight' is the smart thing to do, no one gets hurt that way. I hate physical combat. Even if I was good at fighting, I wouldn't want to hurt anyone."
He rested his head against hers, eyes across the ocean and taking in the detail of every shifting color in the sky. "You can tell me about your 'big situation', and why you were salty. I love a good story. Won't judge you for it, either. Besides, you've let me vent...a lot. And I'd like to learn more. About you, the Court. I...I like that you trust me enough to share. And also this sub is really good, so I definitely don't mind an excuse to shove as much as I can into my mouth while I listen."

Kibirev hesitated, but nodded after a moment and passed over the other two sandwiches, just so he could have more when he finished the meatball. “It’s a kind of long story…and it doesn’t have a happy ending really…and I guess…it kind of makes me sound a little crazy…but. I don’t know.”
She put her own sandwich down and tugged at her overlay, trying to figure out where to start. “Well…we got called to Mirrorspace, strange things were happening, and I was there with my best friend…anyway. We got stuck there…and ended up in this really amazing castle with this wonderful Queen named Altea, and I adored her, Adria…I thought she was wonderful…and she liked me a lot…” Kibi swallowed, thinking of the beautiful, teal haired queen with the smallest of smiles.
“Anyway…nobody else liked her…Nobody else liked being stuck there, which I guess I can understand. That was scary but…I adored Altea. Anyway…um. She was very kind to all of us and gave us shelter and food—it was rocks, they were wild, Adria! They melted and it was kind of like magic…I liked them. We…kind of had crystals growing on us, but that didn’t really matter all that much. It seemed like we had no way to get out…but. I ended up kissing my best friend there, and we danced. And um. Then this guy came and said Altea was evil, and everyone believed him…and they all attacked Altea, and I…tried so hard to save her…I was the only one…”
For a moment, Kibirev couldn’t quite speak, remembering how Acubens and that other awful woman both worked so hard to destroy her queen, and tears came into her eyes as she thought about it. It wasn’t a good thing to think about…
“A-anyway. They um. They killed her. And I think I almost killed one of the other Dark Mirrors…but I felt bad and I think I saved him after…we’re friends now…so that’s something. But after that…my parents started hating me since I was gone for a while without telling them…and uh. I never saw or spoke to my best friend again after I told her I had a crush on her so…there’s that…”
The tears were quietly streaming down her cheeks and she tried very hard to keep her face hidden from Adria. “…It’s been years but…it still hurts so bad sometimes. I…I’m better though! And I’ve made up with most of my court, honestly. I…really like fairytales so of course I liked being in a castle…and Altea gave me the most beautiful dress…I don’t know why they all hated her…she only turned into a monster after they were all attacking…”

Adria had lowered his sandwich before he'd even finished it, just watching her as he listened intently to her story. His brows were knit; he'd been prepared for a long story but he hadn't known what to imagine. He hesitated and reached out a hand first to brush against her shoulder reassuringly--and then just drew her close so he could hug her.
"I'm sorry," he said softly. "That sounds horrible. It sounds like...you had a really bad time. With your friends and the Court and...I mean, I'd be unhappy to be stuck somewhere but a castle sounds amazing. And...I don't know, I like fairy tales. "
His lips pursed and he looked back into the sky as if it would give her a bit of privacy while he stayed close enough to reassure her. "...It sounds like you tried your hardest. I bet it was confusing and scary for everyone to be trapped. I wish they could have all met her under different circumstances so they could have seen her how you did. You...you sound like you really cared about her. Have...have you ever thought about...about writing her story?" he asked, tilting his head. "...You could write about her. About her story. Only...you could rewrite the end. So she lives happily ever after?"

The thought had never occurred to her, but after a moment, Kibirev nodded slowly, wiping at her eyes. “I…Adria…that’s a really…really good idea…what…what a way to memorialize her…and give her the ending that she deserves…”
Kibirev enjoyed the hug that he was giving and leaned into it after a moment. “…I wish they would have…I just…I could never understand why they would trust someone who was…locked up. Who was a prisoner, over a beautiful queen who was taking care of us…giving us free reign of her castle…letting us do what we wanted…I just…why would you do something like that?”
Finally, she shook her head. “Can…you help me? Can we…write it together maybe? I’m…not very good at getting my thoughts onto paper, I think that’s my problem. They get stuck somewhere between my mind and my hands. But…I’m very glad you like fairy tales too…they’re my favorite.”

He looked at her and wore a soft smile. "Yeah, I'll help you write it. Just...keep talking about her."
He reached over and pulled out a laptop, opening up it and creating a blank document. "I brought an extra battery so I can type on this thing for like, ever. So..." he looked at her and wore a small smile. "She sounds really interesting. All of it does. So...I'll try to put your thoughts and feelings into words, and...and maybe I can give you a rough draft of some of the things I come up with--and then you can revise it and change it to make it yours? I always think it's easier to get started on something if you have a template. It's--it's actually how I got started writing. I would take a chapter of something I loved, and then I would try to rewrite it, to look at it from another character's perspective, maybe--and then it just kept growing, the ideas kept blossoming from there. You want to try that?"
