Mielikki had decided that today she was going to take a break from building her new home and head further into the bog to do some healing and maybe look into any new fungi. It had been a while since she traveled into the bog proper. With some help from her new familiar, Lapis, Mielikki packed some essentials and headed off. She wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from her trip in. The bog was a bit of a mystery as most nouls tended to avoid the place altogether. She had been one of those nouls, living as far away from it in Homewood as she could go. Then she moved here of all things.
The smell wasn’t getting any better but she was adjusting best she could. With help from her fungal abilities, life was taking off back at her homesite. While she could put nutrients back in the soil and help spread spores of fungi, this place really needed botanics and atmos nouls too. There was plenty of dead hidden by the bog’s mucky water too, so vivifies would be beneficial there. However, Mielikki wasn’t one to rally the troops. She was a quiet observer and did her part in the grand scheme of things. “I DON’T KNOW HOW ANYONE CAN GET USE TO THIS SMELL,” Lapis pretty much shouted into Mielikki’s ear. She cringed and rolled her shoulders.
“I don’t know, Lapis but please stop yelling into my ear.”“I’M NOT YELLING. I TOLD YOU, THIS IS MY NORMAL VOICE.”“Then lower your normal voice to a whisper please. I do want to be able to hear tomorrow, let along as an elder.”Lapis stuck her tongue out at Mielikki, who wouldn’t have known anyway. “Fine.”WC: 289

Misty seemed to be a glutton for punishment as she was once more in the bog. It didn't seem like it had been that long since she had met the warden here. The one whom seemed to chastise her for her actions and lack of magic practice. While it had been true that she had just acquired Purify back then. Now she was back again with yet another ability... Though she wasn't sure if she would be using this one this time around, or just forgoing it. Time would certainly tell. As things stood, Misty was looking out over the bog from the higher perch she could find. The trees still blocked her sight of great distances, but she was able to see someone or something walking through the murk. Was it the warden again? Had she crossed his path once more? Or was this someone new? Moving off her perch, Misty slogged closer, her ears flicking at the sounds of someone or something yelling. Really? Not the greatest thing to do out here when you could cover up other yells for help. "Noisy little lizard you got there." Misty said as she approached the strange doe who was accompanied by a bright blue lizard, one that reminded her of the one she had run into in the barrens. Memories and something that was still left unfinished... WC: 227

“Who Are You Calling Noisy!” Lapis just about shouted at the chestnut doe that appeared.
Mielikki laid her ears back, not in aggression towards the doe, but to protect them from Lapis and her need to talk loudly. Her lips pressed into a fine line and it was obvious that even she wasn’t pleased with how loudly Lapis spoke.
“Please forgive her, she’s a rather...abrasive lizard,” Mielikki said in a soft voice. It was clear that she didn’t share the lizard’s need to be loud or proud. She walked over towards the chestnut doe, stepping over what looked like questionable ground. “I’m Mielikki, this Lapis.” This was a big improvement for Mielikki, up until recently, she wasn’t one to willingly give her name or even start small talk. But she was growing and learning how to socialize and be polite. It had also been a while since she last saw another noul, she’d been so busy working on her new homesite that she hadn’t been into Homewood or in the bog in weeks. Her fungi and lichen fence was growing beautifully and her house was coming together. But that was a lot of work for one noul.
She tilted her head towards the doe, “What brings you out here?”

Misty watched the doe as she came closer, her ears back as she glanced once again at the annoying blue speck that stuck out against the doe's darker coloring. It was apparent that Misty was one who didn't really care for Scuttle Scales and this one was just proving a point.
"Talking about you, you blue speck." She snorted at Lapis. "Had a run in with one of your kind in the Barrens and he was as boisterous as you and just as rude."
Turning her attention away from the lizard, back to the doe. Seems she had come to be not that far away from her. She had also introduced herself and the blue speck that had a loud mouth. Shaking her head slightly, Misty gave the best grin she could in the wake of what happened.
"A pleasure to meet you, I'm Misty." she answered with her own intro. "I'm always somewhere around here. Trying to find a way to safely get across. Just seems that the farther in you go the worse the smog gets around here."
While she had been told by another that the place was dangerous, not that she hadn't already known. She had grown up here, not in the center, but close enough. She wanted to get back to where her family had last been seen and see if they were still doing alright. Perhaps even drag them to Homewood and away from the dangers.
"Got things to find that were lost when separated." she put it simply, to her own mind anyways. It was her own business.

Lapis simple stuck her tongue out at the noul and crawled down Mielikki’s neck to go sit on her back.
Mielikki nodded her head to Misty, another bog residing noul it seemed. So she was looking for something she had lost out here. Well that sounded like quite the chore she had on her hooves. Mielikki looked out at the bog, bubbles popped on the surface of the nasty water and released more crud into the smoggy air. This place was truly disgusting. But she had high hopes that one day it would actually be a beautiful place.
She looked back towards Misty then. “I’ve recently moved here, but I keep my home site in the outskirts…. Would you by any chance require some help in your search?” Mielikki decided she might as well offer to help. Sometimes, two pairs of eyes where better than one.
Talking with other nouls wasn’t very easy nor did it come naturally to Mielikki. So she tried pretending she was talking to the only noul she was comfortable with, her mother. She made a thinking face while glancing up at Misty.
“Umm, I’m hoping to find some new varieties of fungi. Maybe even lichen or mold. Don’t have much experience with mold though….” she felt a nudge in the back of her mind. It was the lichen colony growing on her chin. “Ohhh...the lichen said they would let us know if there was anyone nearby, dunno if that would help. Maybe if it was a predator?”

Misty watched the scuttle scale as it stuck its tongue out at her before moving to its companion's back and stayed there. Hopefully to remain quiet for the time being, she was already looking to go back to the barrens and find the green scaly thing she had run into some time ago. Shaking her head she looked back at the doe whom had strange purple markings up her rump. Then there was the growths that were growing from her chin, just what had she run into out here? How had she not really looked at the doe? Guess she was only really focusing on the scuttle scale from the start. Now that it had become quiet she really looked at Mielikki.
"Truth is, I don't know where these others are that I am hunting for. They are always traveling." She said with a bit of a sigh. "Last time I had seen them was before I got lost in the bog and came out in the barrens."
She made not really a comment one the strange growth that was coming from Mielikki's chin. In a way, it as kinda creeping her out, but she didn't let it show... Too much, she supposed it had something to do with the magic the dos had. Or it was the bog smog getting to her...
"Do you always walk around with that stuff hanging from your chin? Seems uncomfortable to me."

Mielikki watched the doe’s expressions and body language as they spoke to each other. There seemed to be a sudden shift shortly after her obnoxious scuttle scale moved. The doe seemed to actually look at Mielikki for once and looked rather put off. Hmmm, unusual, Mielikki thought. But she didn’t normally give a dire rat’s backside about what other nouls thought, especially about her. She usually kept far away from other nouls until fairly recently. Mielikki had basically come to terms with having to be more active in noul society to a point. Which meant learning to converse with them.
She listened politely enough to the doe as she mentions that what she is looking for is a who and more than one of them. So there are nouls who are out here in the bog regularly, or live out here? Mielikki only made trips into the bog and lived on the outskirts because of how dangerous and disgusting the place was. She was mildly impressed by the nouls who stayed out there.
“I’d be more than happy to help you find them.” Mielikki replied. The doe finally brought up the lichen beard. Mielikki made an odd face and then looked right at Misty. “I do. It’s lace lichen. It lives on the trees here. I’m a fungal user and one of my abilities is to form a bond with different species of fungi. It allows me to know about my surrounds without having to be there. That’s why I said they’d let us know. I don’t find it uncomfortable, they’ve been there long enough now. They could also help us move through the bog without getting lost.”

Misty listened at fungal doe as she spoke of the fungus that grew from her own body. It made her own skin itch, but she wasn't going to say anything more about it. While it did seem like a bad thing, it also had its perks she supposed. Finding threats and what not that weren't even close by to avoid. but still, having little voices, that wasn't something she could get used to if she were in this doe's hooves.
"Eh, Sounds very useful that is for sure." She voiced giving the area a look around, spotting that indeed that the same kinda of Fungi grew on some of the trees.
"Those I hunt for live more or less on the edges. Studying the Bog and the effects of it on the animals and such around. While they have been here for a while, they take things very slowly." She didn't really want to mention that they had been here since she was little. "So really I am not even sure if they are even still here near the bog. They could have returned to Homewood or moved on to the Ruins for all I know."
She frowned slightly at the thought, kicking at the silk beneath her hooves a little. She would have to widen her search to other places if they aren't anywhere near the Bog. She wouldn't blame them in the least to leave this place, but in a sense... The bog felt like home more then anywhere else..

Mielikki tilted her head slightly as she listened to Misty speak. She wasn’t entirely sure what the chestnut doe wanted or why she really came here. She seemed uncomfortable and a bit lost. Mielikki wasn’t entirely the right noul to come to when it came to being indecisive. She didn’t have enough experience with other nouls. They’d been just standing there for quiet some time.
“I do hope you find whoever it is you’re looking for. I’m still learning my way around the bog. But I live just back that way on the outskirts.”
Mielikki glanced up a bit realizing that she was starting to loose the light. Well that was quick, she thought, guess that’s just how it is in the bog. Night time wasn’t really the ideal time to be caught out in the bog. Luckily, after her last visit to the Grandfather tree, he blessed her with more magic and a new ability. Might as well give it a go she though. Her magic came to her easier than it did as an apprentice fungal. It bloomed and swirled within her, happy to be of use. Her leg marking glowed purple and then they began to appear. Fungus spores lit up around her and floated towards her. Each one landing softly on her pelt and clinging to it. They each let off a small glow, but together they created quite the living night light.
“Ah, much better,” Mielikki said not realizing she hadn’t warned Misty with what she was about to do. WC: 255 Total: 1,285 Ability Used: Bioluminate

Misty watched the Doe as she seemed to watch her. Glancing around at the darkening skies, it seemed that her search would have to wait another day. Pity that, she was hoping to have made some progress, but it was what it was. Shaking her head slightly she looked back at Mielikki. It seemed that this doe had more up her 'sleeves' then just the fungi that hung from her chin.
"I lived here in and around the barrens for many years. My parents and their group are around the edges, somewhere. I am sure that they will be someone near the edges. Many years I used to play here in the bog before we got separated." She made mention as Mielikki mentioned still being new to the Bog.
Misty knew the jist of the Bog anyways, the path she had traveled was one that seemed to shift now and then. The bog was an ever churning beast that was never standing still for one moment or another. Frowning slightly, Misty glanced back into the direction that she had come from. With the night coming, she had to start back towards Homewood.
"Well, it was nice meeting you. But seems that night has snuck up on the both of us. I should be headed back." She said as she turned around to head back towards home, well what has been home for a few months now. "Welcome to the Bog."

“Have a safe trip home,” Mielikki replied to the odd chestnut doe. Then again, who was she to call anyone odd. She watched Misty walk away for a moment before turning and heading back towards her home. Her stomach growled and she realized that it was definitely past evening meal time. With her pelt a glow, lighting her way, Mielikki picked her way back to the massive hollowed out tree stump she now called home. It was fortuitous of her to find. “I’m hungry. We going to eat soon?” Lapis called from behind her. Mielikki grinned, she was impressed with how quiet Lapis had been for the most part. She also didn’t yell this time. “We’ll eat as soon as we get home, Lapis. Good job on being quieter and not yelling.” “I didn’t want to offend anyone’s sensibilities….” Lapis pretty much muttered. Mielikki chuckled lightly.WC: 146 Total: 1,431
