The day was a slow one, there weren't so many hanging around the hot springs, not that it bothered her that the older nouls came and went as they often did. It wasn't up to her to say that they had to stay away. She was one for trying to help anyone whether they wanted her to or not. Today she had thought of going to find her friends, but she also wanted to put up herbs for teas and things. Standing at one of the many flat stones around the spring, Dusty pushed another stone against a clump of herbs, scraping them into smaller pieces. She would have to find someone who could make her a proper stone grinder, but for now this would have to do. Then again... Dusty wasn't too sure whom she could ask about such things, she hadn't heard too much of stone smiths and the like around Homewood. Perhaps an adventure to the Ruins could answer her questions. "Get these finished and I might just head off to do so. But one task at a time." Dusty muttered to herself as she dragged the stone back over the herbs. This was going to take a while... She just knew it... WC: 206

Haniel trotted along as he explored more parts of Homewood. He didn’t have parents that were very present in his life. While they tried to drop him off with nannies, they where gone so much that even the nannies would just let him wander. He always came back, so they learned to not worry about him as much.
There didn’t seem to be many nouls around, he felt like he’d gone farther than he usually did. A weird scraping noise, like rock on rock, was growing louder as he trotted. Haniel decided to cut through some dense ferns and bushes to come to a spring surrounded by carefully placed stones. A pink and white noul with black hair was standing with her back to him. The noise was coming from whatever it was that she was doing.
He trotted up right behind him. “Howdy!” He said gleefully. “I’m Haniel, what’s your name?!”
Any one of his nannies wouldn’t be surprised that Haniel exhibited no shyness or discretion when it came to others. He was always going up to unknown nouls and greeting them and stating his name. It didn’t matter if the adult noul cared or not and being brushed off didn’t phase him. He also had a tendency to puff up his tiny chest and strut around when he saw someone he thought was pretty. He remembered one nanny making a remark about how much of a romeo he was, whatever that meant.WC: 244

Dusty had been so into what she was doing that when a small voice pipped up behind her, she near jumped out of her own skin. The stone she was using to crush herbs kinda went skittering across the larger she used as a table before she turned towards the voice's owner. It was a small foal that was mainly white besides some odd markings on his face and flank. She did have to give a glance around to see if anyone else was with the foal, but it seems that he was all on his lonesome. With her heart coming back to her chest, the hairs on her neck starting to flatten, Dusty just stared at the foal once again. "Dusty Rose." She spoke her own name, sides giving slow heaves as she was getting back into control. "I was crushing herbs to set up for teas and other herbal remedies."Dusty went to look for the stone she had been using. It had gone across the stone table and apparently went for a dip in the closest heated pool. Well that was just perfect, she would have to fish it out later, guess the herbs still attached to it would make the water better for the time being. Looking back she glanced at her near finished work, she would have to clean them up. "You always this forthcoming little Haniel? Could get yourself into a lot of trouble doing that." She should know, Turtle nearly lost his face walking up behind another creature and it turned out to be a predator. "Don't suppose your parents are anywhere nearby, huh?" Before the breeze going rustle the ground herbs, Dusty managed to get them into a pouch. What little was left that she couldn't get would blow away, but first things first. She had to wonder where this little one had come from and if he had anyone really watching him. wc: 321

Haniel simply tilted his cute little head to the side as he watched the doe. A big smile lit up his deceivingly sweet face as his ears sat fully facing her. It was kinda amusing to watch the stone she was holding go flying into a pool that had steam rising from it. Huh, was that water not cool? He’d not seen water like that before and the air seemed to be scented differently than other parts of Homewood. Curious.
His head tilted the other way now as she asked about his parents. “Oh, mother and father are busy working all the time. I have a nanny that looks after me most of the time. Though she isn’t here right now. How would I get in trouble greeting other nouls? I always say hi and introduce myself. Never had any issues with it before. Why are you crushing herbs? Why is the water all steamy here?”
Haniel trotted over to the pool and looked in. The steam rose up and around his face and it made his fur all damp and stand up. “Hey this is kinda cool. But doesn’t seem like great drinking water….is it food? Uhhh soup?” He looked back over at Dusty Rose.

"Might meet someone who won't be so nice. Don't suppose your nanny ever told you of the Black Horns? Or even the Nouls who have gifts, but still dark.... Hobbies." Not wanting to really scare the foal, not that it was really THAT scary to begin with. Just something to think upon she supposed.
Dusty watched the foal as he watched her, soon shaking her head as she went back about her business. Seems that his parents were always working huh? Well that made three of them, if she was to keep the place looking ok. The Spa was something that many would come to, at least this is what she hoped.
"The herbs are for tea and herbal wraps. The water steams because it is a hot spring." She put simply as she came up behind him. "It's good for helping wary Nouls relax from their adventures and work. I would advise not getting into it though. Not sure how it would affect a young Noul like yourself."
She warned as she walked away a little. Also the pool that he stood at was one of the deeper ones. Nouls can stand up and have the water up to their chins. Glancing back she wondered if he would follow her or no. If anything she was stand there, not looking to leave a foal unattended where it could be dangerous.

So the steamy water was essentially a bath for nouls, adult nouls. It all sounded so adulty, so boring right? He made a contemplative face for a moment and then turned around to see Dusty had moved farther away. He caught her glancing at him and so he promptly pronked over to where she was. This noul didn’t seem all that chatty and very much into her work, so much like his parents. Where all adults like that? Seemed like all work and no fun made for a dull existence.
Haniel was always wanting to know about things. Some things he didn’t know though. Like black horns and bad nouls with gifts. None of that seemed to make sense to him. “I’ve never heard of black horns or bad nouls. I thought everyone worked towards healing Vykeli. Do we not all get along?” He tilted his head to the side and stared up at Dusty, which some nouls found unnerving but he was just a curious fellow.
“Is all you do is work?” Haniel asked suddenly, “Is that all adults do? I think play is important. Do you ever play? What are you doing now? How do you get the water hot? What are herbal wraps?”

Dusty looked at the foal as he seemed to have a lot of questions to ask. She could answer a few of them, but she didn't know everything. His final question was all she did was work? Well. That was a question now wasn't it? She did do a lot of work these days, she was wanting to get the place looking nice for other Nouls to come and relax at. Dusty hadn't really taken much of a day off since helping her friends find something.
"I have been doing a lot of work, but I do take some time off to see my friends. Some Adults do work a lot, Some of us have other jobs other then healing Vykeli. I am a Vivify, I specialize and helping other heal. Magically and with means of herbs." She said tilting her own head as she talked. "The water is heated by thermal vents that have cracked open beneath the surface."
She looked around before looking over to one of the surface vents she used to heat water and wraps on. The vent seemed quiet right now, steam rose from it at least once a every couple of hours of the day. It had just heated the stone above it not too long ago.
"Here, can show you one of the vents. The ones in the water are more active, this one is just a smaller surface crack. I use it to heat water for tea." She stepped over towards the stone, lowering her head to peer under the stone between the low feet it rested on.
Dusty had to think over the rest of his questions, there was mention of black horns and Nouls with gifts that do bad things. These were things that even she didn't want to think about. He had mentioned everyone healing Vykeli, while this was true, but there was always those that took care of those whom needed the help and healing.
"You will have to ask someone else on the Blackhorns. That is a subject I am not too familiar with. But not everyone gets along. Sadly the council have their own ideas of how to help Vykeli and what should be done with those who refuse to help." She looked away to this, her father had often come home with a headache from the meetings. He being one of their scribes had to take a lot of notes. "We all do what we can, in what way we can. Me, it is the well being of others so we all can continue to do our best."
Dusty moved away from where she had been and looked around. Everything seemed to be in order, Halen been a dear the one time he had come by. She was sure he would come around again, when he was ready. With a wistful look on her face, she was hoping Halen was doing well, but for now she would have to try and not worry about him. There was a Foal here after all... And she had forgotten all that he had wanted to know...

Haniel followed Dusty over to a vent in the ground and looked at it, tilted his head with curiosity. It was a crack in the ground that steam would come up from occasionally. How curious. He looked back up at Dusty. “My mother is a vivify,” he said, completely ignoring the vent. “She’s always busy helping out nouls who’ve injured themselves. Sometimes other creatures too. They don’t tell me too much.”
Mention of the council seemed to cause him to lay his ears back slightly. He’d heard that word before, it seemed to be an important word to his parents. He didn’t fully understand it but he was sure nanny would tell him if he asked. Dusty didn’t seem too keen on talking about black horns either. Where they really that bad? Maybe he’d have to ask nanny about that too. Maybe one day when he’s a big boy he can go find one and see for himself.
“Do you like what you do?” he asked suddenly.WC: 167 Total: 824

"Yea, some adults get really into their work. My mom's really into her flower arrangements and making spaces pretty." She commented with a small chuckle as she watched the foal. "I get so into it sometimes that I forget where I am and what I am doing. Or even the time."
Glancing around the area that they were within. Everything seemed in its place and tidy. Everything was slow as slow could be, there had to be ways to get the word out about the spa. Perhaps in some festival or something in the future. Who knew for now she was liking the quiet slowness of the place. Looking back towards Haniel as he asked if she liked what she did. There was a question, but has a simple answer.
"Yep. Always spent my time your age finding things that needed help. Mom wasn't much for herbs so I learned what I could from others. I always thought it a hobby until now." She stepped past him heading towards the brook that flowed near by. "What about you? Got anything that interests you? Any hobbies?"
When she reached the brook, she lowered her head to get a drink. It was cold to the touch, but refreshing to say the least. From where she stood a small waterfall rained down from the rocks. The place was one of peace and relaxation, no matter the age.

Haniel watched her and listened to her. He guessed the adults must enjoy what they do, otherwise they’d stop. Dusty seemed to confirm that in a way. A sound off in the distances sounded familiar and his ears swung back to listen but went forward again as Dusty asked him about his hobbies. He pondered that for a moment.
“Hmm, well I guess exploring? I like to check out places in Homewood I’ve never been to. I also like to meet new nouls and learn about what they do,” he replied after a moment, watching her take a drink. The sound came again and it was closer. He turned his head, ears taking in the sound. It was nanny and she was calling for him. He turned back around and looked at Dusty.
“I guess that it’s time to go. Nanny is hot on my trail!” he giggled mischievously. “Bye Dusty!”
He ran back towards where he appeared but then paused and looked over at the doe. “Maybe someday I’ll be back, needing a place to relax!” And with that he vanished back through the bushes.WC: 186/1,010 Kesmi I figured it was time to wrap this up?

Dusty looked back as it seemed that haniel had to leave. It seemed that their meeting was over, turning around she gave a sort of wave with her tail. "Keep out of trouble, Haniel. You are welcome back here any time." She called after him.
Giving a small sigh as the foal left. Alone again, the silence of the spa was almost deafening as only the crashing of the falls could be heard over the simmering water of the pools. Shaking her head, Dusty headed over to the pool her rock had skittered off into. She still had to get that back... Time to take a swim..
