It was now late afternoon, Dances on waves had begun her travel to the nearest shoreline earlier that morning to gather some supplies from the ocean. Some kelp, fish bones anything she saw fit to uses in balms & salves for her medical research and healing of those who needed it. She knew the kelp would be helpful with its Antioxidants and fish bone was good for inflation internally, both had other benefits she had yet to discover. She wondered what other things she could find that would be useful in the near future, she looked about enjoying the mild breeze it was a relief from the harsh desert's heat she often had to face while visiting her family across the large river that divided the run from the forest area Her tail swayed as she drew closer to the shore.
Her eyes glanced over the sand and rocks. She padded threw the warm sand, paws being buried beneath she enjoyed the warmth. Oh, how she loved the sea, though it long ago had taken all that she loved, she felt that the sea had called for her friends and family to return to the sea where the where rumored to have once come from back to their selkie. She shook her head as the puppy's tale filled her mind, bringing her focus back to the task at paw. She began to gather beached kelp, bones from fish, and even some shells perfect for containers, after a while of trekking through the sand, her nose began to twitch at strange scent it was something she was very familiar with being in the medicinal field. she sniffed along the sand flowing the smell
not long as she began searching she found a clump of sand stained with blood, she sniffed around getting the sent of another wolf where they hurt? was it just from them hunting? she had no time to entertain the possibilities as she began to fallow the blood trail wondering who it belonged to and if they where OK, even the though of it being another animals blood didn't float well with this kind wolf. she began the search determined to help without giving it a second thought even at the risk of her own well being.

her paws had carried her over the sand as she dashed quickly seeking for the soul the blood had belonged to, it didn't take long before she saw something in the distance, had it not been for the wolfs blood rail nor his brightly colored blue dye Dances on waves would have never noticed the sandy colored wolf blending into the Ombré of sand beneath him she called out to him, worried she hurried to his side. she had no time to fret as she saw the paw and the amount of blood lost.
with haste she reached her head around to the bag made of dry leaves and vine pulling out some supplies some woven strands of plant she did the best she could to tie it around the base of his paw tightly using her maw and front paw. once she had it tight enough to suppress bleeding she began to examine his paw, it didn't look good, the paw pad was rather tattered from the gnawing he had done, and a few spines remained she pondered how to remove them without damaging his paw further. and with a plan in mind she began to go to work only taking time to pull a large leaf from a tree to cover him with so he wouldn't suffer from heat exhaustion, she work effortlessly removing every needle fragment she could applying salve to his foot and padding it with cleaned bundled wool to pad the woven leaves to his foot up his leg.
when all was said and done, she began to ponder how to move him, he was still out like a light. she had planed to return home before night, but there was no way she could drag him all the way home with her. nor did she have an animals help to move him. so she too a moment to gather more leaves a a large bit of drift woof worn down and flattened by the ruthless sea. she managed to nudge him on to the wood she bit down as hard as she could on to the drift wood, she began to slide him threw the sand. though she struggled she didn't give up. over time she reached some over hang she pulled him beneath the shade and laid down beside him, exhausted she waited by his side eyes fixated on the sea.

Her tail swayed gently behind her as she listed to the song of the sea,it soothed her, bringing her peace of mind she took this time to mull over a course of action. her paws laid cross in front of her right over the left as her ears swiveled to the sounds around them. she hummed softly soft sweet howls escaping her as she sung to the rhythm of the sea. but it wasn't long before her vice fell silent heating his whines. her head shifted her two tone eyes staring back at him, one eye brown and the other blue. it was quite uncommon for wolves to have this trait, but she in fact did have it. she shifted in the sand to face him " hush now, your alright, your safe, I wont let anything happen to you." she cooed softly like a mother talking to a young pup.
she laid down beside him her eyes fixated on him while he struggled with everything he was going threw. she began to hum again trying to soothe him " rest your head, close your eyes, everything will be alright." she sang softly while the waves crashed against the rock faces and banks of sand. she saw his worry and pain she wanted nothing more than to take the fear and pain away. she carefully shifted and tucked herself under his head, letting him hear her heart beat and the sound of her voice echoing threw her body she began to sing a lullaby

As time went on her song drew to an end, but as she stopped singing she began to realize things where taking a turn for the worse oh dear" she muttered as she noted that he began to have a fever, she began to speculate that whatever stung him caused an infection, if the blood loss weren't bad enough. " come now you cant leave the world like this" she muttered though if only she knew her plea fell on def ears, she soon arose from beneath him carefully as not to disturb him and ran towards the sea. worry stuck her.
upon reaching the waters she dove in drenching her fur in the chilly ocean water. she closed her eyes to shield them from the salty waters. once her fur was good and soaked she emerged from a crash of waves dashing to his side once again, shivering she laid herself atop of him she hoped the cool waters would aid in cooling him down. "what to do.. what to do" she thought wondering if there had to be more spines in his feet, maybe a fish bone could aid in removing the rest. but for now, to reduce the fever but then she remembered the meadow sweet she had obtained threw her travels not only had she found it to help fevers but it also helped with aches and pains as well.
she took a moment to shift carefully swiping up her bag to her side her nose buried in it's contents as she pulled out the plant, knowing full well he couldn't chew it himself she began to chew the plant up making sure not to swallow any she chewed for a while till it was mush. bringing her muzzle to his she swapped it from her mouth to his being careful not to force so much at once in to him.
after giving him the herb she took the next hour or so torn between the waters and him.cooling him down as time passed, once his temperature was regular enough for her to allow her to leave him, she removed her body from his and unwrapped the crude bandages, had she owned a racoon changing bandages would of been easier , or a bird to pluck out the thorny barbs in his paw. but she had to do this herself.
taking a fish bone she began to clench it gently between her teeth, using it to nudge free the remaining fragments and barbs. then she applied a new salve and bandage to his paw pad, using sap of a plant to adhere leaf with cotton to the bottom of his paw pad warping it carefully applying a little more sap to keep it attached to itself.when she was done she sighed and carefully nudged herself back under his head hoping he would come to in time, she knew it would take a little more time but she was willing to wait and watch over him for the time.

From what was once a warm but breezy afternoon on the beach was now a chilly late evening, the animals of the beach where beginning to settle down, the tide rising upon the beach, but they where thankfully up beneath an overhang of the cliff face a cave that had been dug out over many years of the ocean pounding on its faces, it was smooth and dry they would be safe here away from the rising waters.
As he began to stir dances on waves was gently nestled around his head, her head laying down upon her dainty paws, her fur smelling of the ocean, and herbal medicines, she lay there breathing softly, her eyes closed, still humming softly had she been singing to him this whole time whilst he slept? Upon the movement of his head she raised her head up carefully from her paws, she glanced back her two tone eyes fixated on him, a sigh of relief escaped her as she saw him waking up "Ah, your finally awake, how are you feeling?" she had hoped the pain had now subsided that the medicine had time to work, she looked hopeful and expectantly at him.
