The world was finally getting a little bit warmer, and while it was still cool out, it was much better than before. Since returning from New Years, it had been non-stop with working odd jobs to afford the house and patrolling to keep up his quota. It was why the suggestion of going out for a group patrol was just a welcomed surprise, and he was all for having someone around to patrol with him.

They were all dropped off in downtown Destiny and as they looked around, Wolframite figured out that they were actually rather close to his old stomping grounds with Castor. It put a sly smile on his face with the memory of all the stuff they got up to (one memory as an exception and he was suppressing.) "Be careful. We're in the rougher neck of the woods here." He warned Laven and Tina.

With a raised brow, Lavendulan rolled her eyes.

Couldn’t be worse than a venture into the Rift. “If it wasn’t rough before, it is now… Here there be monsters.” Her lips pulled into a half-smile, wondering if either of them would get the movie reference.

“Why do I find myself not surprised that you’d be familiar with a shady place like this?” She doubted it was because of a moral obligation to only steal energy from those that deserved to be punished. He liked fighting too much for that to be the case.

“Just don’t stand behind me if someone pulls a gun on us.” It wasn’t that she was going to flee the scene but rather switching to her water form would at least allow bullets to pass through her unharmed, she hoped, but would also permit her to defend herself, and friends, against the ******** without much concern about getting killed.

Tinaksite wasn’t a fan of this area, and her eyes kept flickering around, wary of any danger that might be lurking in the shadowy corners. Laven’s words about not standing behind her if someone came out with a gun perplexed her and she gave a glance to her friend, brows furrowing.

“Obviously. If that happens I will stand in front of you. I would not cower. I would protect my friend.”

But, if the three of them couldn’t handle someone with a gun…then they weren’t really worth their place in the Negaverse.

Reaching into the pocket on her skirt, Tinaksite fingered the starseed she had pulled just prior to meeting up with her two best friends and thought that even if something bad did happen, she would only need to eat it and she would be more than fit to protect the both of them if it came to that.

For now though, she glanced back to Wolframite and shrugged. “What is the purpose of us in this area?”

"Easy marks. But I did have some stuff here that I left that I forgot about. Used to be my old stomping grounds with a friend of mine. We'd take out the local trash and pick off what they had as a bonus. This place is also great for picking off thugs that used up any good graces the world shouldn't have given them in the first place." His tail was swaying at the good memory of breaking skulls and femus in a place like this. In his months away, he wondered if Castor was still doing cleanup or if it had surged in activity with their absence.

"We can collect some starseeds after we check the stash. Sound good with you two?" He said, turning to them as he tried to ask them in a slightly sweeter tone.

With all the extra odd jobs he and Laven had been doing, he hoped he had some cash tucked away among the other odds and ends there.

“Starseeds are all on you two.” Laven’s hand flexed at her side in response to the memory of the only one she had taken to date; Wolframite’s. An experience she would never forget and one she would rather not repeat again. “I’m not interested in that.”

Her quota was to gather energy and unless a Sovereign told her otherwise that’s what she would bring in. Starseeds were a bonus but she wasn’t looking for brownie points right now since so much of her time was either devoted towards the research project she was helping Queen Laurelite with or picking up work shifts around the Dark Kingdom to earn funds to continue fixing up the house.

Energy was easily replenished, like a rechargeable battery, where starseeds were more finite, one-time use then they were done. It seemed a waste to take them unless it was to eliminate an immediate threat.

At the mention of gathering more Starseeds, Tinaksite looked up, interested. Laven’s reply confused her slightly and she glanced at her friend with a slight frown on her face. “You do not like starseeds? I can help to gather some. Laven, have you not…eaten one?”

She was thankful to Wolframite for allowing her to have the one that he had pulled. That burst of energy had been amazing. And she understood why it was important to collect starseeds, and why it was even more important to have at least one on your person at all times. It made life so much easier.

She didn’t really care much what might have been in this stash that they were looking for, but allowed her eyes to return to watching, wanting to cover her friends backs. If Wolframite had to find what he was looking for, it was really up to Tinaksite to keep a watch on things.

Not that Laven couldn’t. She just shouldn’t have to.

"We've been busy working and doing patrols that we really haven't been in a big fight. So she hasn't had a reason to eat one in a emergency." He informed Tina, brushing off the prospect of starseed gathering for now. He was much more excited to go check out a old stash he vaguely remembered from his past as a knight.

"Alright. Just a little detour and we'll go back to business. If my memory is still with it, it should just be about two blocks from here. No one should mess with us for now and if they do, well, early start to a patrol." He said with a wag of his tail as he gestured for them to follow him.

It didn't take long to get there and despite a few people talking in whispers and smoking around some back alleyways, no one bothered them. They arrived to a back door and looking about, Wolframite grabbed the door handle and then shoved his weight against the door twice before it popped open. "Ladies first." He said, gesturing for them to go inside.

Inside was a darkened bar with a stage and a few poles It didn't seem to have been in use for several months..

“How kind,” Laven teased with a smile then ducked her head and stepped inside.

While there was no reason to worry about knocking her head on a door frame or low hanging beam, it seemed that cobwebs were fair game. The dusty threads pulled free from the wall and with it came a small black spider that seemed determined to cling to it’s home.

Completely oblivious to the eight-legged hitchhiker Laven walked over to the bar and swiped her finger across the surface like an inspector wearing a white glove testing for cleanliness. “Looks like it’s definitely been a while since you last visited.”

She couldn’t help but wonder why he hadn’t brought her here before especially since they had gone drinking together on Halloween. Then again this could be his sanctuary away from the Dark Kingdom. A place for him to just simply be without worrying about anyone walking in or interrupting his thoughts.

Tinaksite followed Laven inside and wrinkled her nose at the sight. “This place is filthy and…” Her eyes traveled up to the spider who had decided to make a new home in the half youma’s hair. “You have a new friend.” Carefully she flicked the spider off and shook her head, still looking disapproving.

“…Wolf…I do not understand the purpose of being here…it is filthy. Did you want us to clean?”

She hoped not…she didn’t want to clean up anything but…she couldn’t quite figure out what else they would have been brought here for…

“This…” Tina gestured around. “…This is not…a clean place, Wolf…” She couldn’t help but repeat herself, watching the half youma with a confused expression. Laven didn’t seem to mind…and that only brought on more confusion. Was she just missing something? She always seemed to be missing something.

'Was only here when I was a knight back in the day. I still liked clearing out these areas of trash. Was a crazy fight in this bar though. Sometimes I'd hide stuff I couldn't carry with me to come back to later for some cash or something to drink." He said, shutting the door and walking past them. There was a air of purpose he had as he moved up to hop up onto the bar and then over to the counter. Someone had cleared out all the stock and it was barren aside from a few glasses.

Reaching up, he let his claws rake over the wooden panels above to feel for something to loosen.

"We're not here to clean, Tina. I'm here to get a stash. Hopefully no one raided this place." Considering who had owned it, hiding away things like money and drugs was commonplace practices.

There was a creek of wood and Wolframite brightened. "Bingo." He said, shoving with his claws to pop out a panel of wood and moving it aside. Still short, he turned to use the shelves to climb up a bit more before he could grip the opening he made and heave himself halfway into the ceiling. Tail wagging, there was a series of muffled coughing before he fell back and down, catching himself just in time to land on his feet with a very dusty box in hand. It was one of those cardboard boxes that once held bottles of tequila. Cobwebs in his ears, he coughed a bit more before setting the box on the bar counter.

"Lucky. No one found it." He said as he went to open the top. Inside were some rolls of loose money, bottles of various alcohol on the higher end, little odds and ends of jewelry, and a large, leather jacket stuffed under it all.

His mention of being here when he was a Knight gave Lavendulan a reason to glance at Tina curiously. The expression was quickly hidden behind a mask, a smile to disguise the thoughts of doubt and suspicion with one of amusement as she instead pointed up at Wolframite’s tail that was wagging happily behind him.

Did she know about his past, that he defected from the Negaverse and became a Knight? If so, how did she find out? Was it a moment of confession that he decided to just open up about his past or did they…

Laven reached up and absently brushed her fingertips over the cuff that hugged the edge of her ear.

Had they shared a mind space, a dreamscape as they have in the past? It was an intimate thing to share, at least to her it was, but the two of them hadn’t ever discussed or established any rules prohibiting the other from their earrings with others. Not that there should be any. Before Wolframite she had used the earrings with Lopezite as a test back at the reservoir, it would make her a hypocrite to say he wasn’t allowed to do the same with someone else.

Stop it! Laven mentally scolded herself. The two of them were friends…

And patrol partners as of late. The Leviathan coyly reminded her with an amused hum, settling against her consciousness with a wide toothy grin. The devil on her shoulder planting seeds of doubt for reasons she didn’t understand.

Her pupils pulled into thin slits and Laven quickly looked away as if something in her peripherals caught her attention suddenly. It’s better that way, at least I know they will have each others’ back. She pushed down a snarl, hating that these jealous thoughts even came to fruition. This was supposed to be a relaxing(ish) evening out together as a group and if she wasn’t careful everything could come crumbling down in front of her, or exploding in her face. Either way, the outcome wouldn’t be pleasant if she didn’t reign in these stupid emotions and stop doubting Wolframite or feeling threatened by Tinaksite spending quite a bit of time with him.

It was the thudding sound of the box being set on the countertop that jarred Laven from her thoughts and almost made her jump. Instead, she cleared her throat and waved her hand in front of her face as if the plume of dust was getting to her.

“It says quite a lot that you trust us enough to bring us here.” she walked over to him then, with a clawed hand, reached up to brush away the dusty cobwebs that settled atop his head and clung to his ears. “It’s like a time capsule,” Laven commented since it contained relics of a fragmented past, mementos from moments worth looking back on. “Were you looking for something specific in there or were you planning on coming to grab the whole thing?”

The implication of Wolframite’s words went right over Tinaksite’s head as most things seemed to do when she didn’t have a direct line to her own life. She frowned slightly though, wrinkling her nose. “…Is that money not filthy? It is all filthy…” She shook her head, unhappy that Wolframite didn’t have as much class as she thought he had…what a shame. Her eyes flickered to Laven and she smiled slightly. Now, there was someone with class all right. Elegant and utterly perfect.

Though…when she saw the half youma move towards the other and brush cobwebs off of his hair and ears, there was a rough, sudden dart of jealousy that stole through her and Tinaksite’s eyes fell to the dirty floor, her smile fading.

Why couldn’t Laven have done that to her…she supposed that there were still cobwebs in her own hair, and idly, the Captain reached out to brush whatever might be caught there away. She could be cool too. Even if she were the only one who thought so.

“…We are going to get starseeds soon, Wolf?” At least that…would make her feel better. Maybe.

"Money is money. It's an object. It's people who are filthy and well, I'm not one to talk. Neither are you. We kill people." He said, not at all going to play a saint in that he was anything but a murderer. He had just causes, but he also knew he had had done plenty of heartless, messed-up s**t in his time.

"And we'll see about hunting here in a bit. The city isn't going anywhere." He said as he tried to keep Tina from rushing him.

"I'm just here to put this all in my storage so I have something to bring back." He said as he pulled out wads of loose bills he had tossed into the box and popped the wallets out to empty them out and toss them on the table once pilfered of their cash. The bottles he was more careful with.

"I mean, unless you guys want a bit of a warm cap before we head out." He said, lifting up a bottle.

Laven lifted a hand and shook her head. "No thanks, not right now." She turned to take a seat on one of the stools. "Maybe later tonight. " Drinking something while she was already on edge for no apparent reason was not the best idea and the last thing she wanted to do was lash out at one of them unfairly.

The mention of starseed hunting made Lavendulad's stomach churned aggressively.

Although she understood the reasoning behind the practice, as long as it remained an option and not mandatory requirement, she preferred not to partake in it. Perhaps that was the reason why they patrolled together without her, because they somehow knew it would upset her or assumed she was too weak willed to follow through with the final act.

There was some truth to that, however, the actual reasoning is a bit more complex.

It's a hard thing to forget when you almost kill the one person in this new world you care about the most. Wolframite had been laying on the bed with a high fever when her hand sunk into his chest, fingers coiling around his starseed as dark desperate thoughts demanded she either break it or consume it. Either way, ther outcome would be the same and he would be dead.

They never spoke of it when he finally woke up and even if he didn't remember what she had done there was no doubt in her mind that the Wolf surely did.

That was true, she supposed. They did kill people…but ripping out starseeds wasn’t messy. There was just something unsavory about physical filth.

“I am not thirsty.” Tinaksite said softly, her eyes roaming around the room once again. She wasn’t sure what her purpose here was. Wolf knew what he was doing, and Laven seemed very comfortable but…

It seemed like she was just here to keep Wolf company. Not that she minded but…

But she was bored.

“What will you do with it all? Will you buy us presents, Wolf?”
