Mielikki had spent the day organizing her latest finds within her tree home. Her home which had started out as two young trees that eventually came together and fused into a massive one. It had conveniently left a space underneath for small doe, such as herself, to make a home in. It provided a space for her to hide in, sleep in and store her treasure in and around. The horde seemed to keep growing and things she created hung from the tree or sat around it.
But while this was all well and good, Mielikki had felt the time grow near for her to make her journey to the Grandfather tree. However, her timid nature seemed to keep her from taking that big step into the barrens to go find it. She watched as other went on their journeys and she watched them return with their gifts. Today ended up being the very day Mielikki finally stepped out into the barrens. She decided to take her bucket with her, filled it with cool water and started the trek to the tree. While her bucket was handy, it wasn't entirely practical for carrying water long distances. The bucket weighed heavily in her mouth and the water sloshed and kept spilling out. By the time she made it to the Grandfather Tree, there was less than half of the water left. Some she had drank, the rest dotted the dusty ground before drying up.
Mielikki sighed with relief that she had made it to the tree. She set her bucket down and carefully ran her tongue over the sore spots that had developed in her mouth. That's no good, she thought. But it is what it is, poor choice with the bucket, but she at least had some water. Her attention then turned back to the massive tree and she gazed up at it's branches and took in the pale outer surface. She tilted her head a moment and wondered what now....
"Do I talk to you," she asked in a small quiet voice. "I'm..I'm here for m-my gift...."

A still quiet passes over the plateau. Hushed silence that is almost deafening. Grandfather tree's roots seem to shift and reach out as Mielikki approaches.
Choose one of the following prompts for Mielikki's dream vision.
Quote:
You are in the ruins of Erli. Smoke billows out of one of the laboratories. You hear a cry of fear. What do you do?

You are in the ruins of Erli. Suddenly a beam of metal comes crashing down not far from you and you hear a shout of pain. The beam has collapsed on top of a predator that was hunting you! The predator is alive, but trapped and injured. What do you do?
Quote:
You are in Blackbriar Bog. Through the murky swamp water you spot something unusual sitting in the silt. The water is dangerous and you don’t know how deep it goes, but you’ve never seen this thing before. What do you do?
Mielikki suddenly heard a ringing in her ears as the world seemed to become quieter. Then she smelled it before she saw it. The bog. It’s a place she tended to avoid after her first encounter with it. The air was heavy and smelled rank from the swamp the stretched out around her. The ground was soft under hoof but she wasn’t sinking, which was a plus. This place felt like a death trap to her. Why was she here? Her flank twitched under the humid air as if some ghostly presence reached out from the beyond to touch her. Nothing grew here, things seemed to come here to die. Mielikki grimaced and gingerly took a step forward, the mud squelched between her toes and she cringed.
She sighed in resignation with a slight eye rolled. It was then that something off to her left caught her eye. Mielikki looked over at the object and tilted her head. Her curiosity was now piqued. But of all things, it was on a mud bank and there was nasty water between her and the object.
“Are you freaking kidding me,” she muttered, her expression dead panning. She walked to the edge of the water, if you could call it that, hooves squelching all the way. From what she was told, the water was the most dangerous here. It was murky and the bottom was worse than quick sand it was mud that clung and held you prisoner before sucking you down. So Mielikki leaned forward and squinted as she tried to see what was sitting on the muddy island. It was impossible to get a clear view of it as it was partially sunk into the ground. So she backed up and looked around. There was no way in darkness she was going to attempt the water crossing by swimming through it. She also didn’t want to search for help from another. She didn’t like involving herself with others. So she looked to those who were here….and yet not. The dead trees around her rose up in as eery figures all around. Their boney like fingers reaching towards an unforgiving sky. Maybe one wasn’t so strong at it’s base anymore and she could push it over. The humid air made their sides slick though and it was a risk but a better risk than swimming.
Mielikki walked the edge to find one that would line up well enough with the mud bank and tested it. At first it didn’t give at all as she leaned against it. She reared up and slammed her hooves against the trunk and felt herself slip against it. Next thing she knew, her cheek hit the side of the tree and it reverberated through her. She shook her head, hoping to lessen the pain. Mielikki stood there for a moment, gazing towards the mystery object and wondering what the point of this all was. Getting over to that small island would have been easy if this place was alive with plants and the water clean. She would have wadded through the water.
She was thinking about giving up when a thought crossed her mind, what if the mystery object was a key to bringing life back to the bog? Was it a seed, a sapling, bone? That was what was important, bringing life back to the bog, to the world...even if it was one plant at a time. So with renewed strength, Mielikki approached the tree carcass and slammed into it with all her might. Just as she thought it wasn’t going to give, she heard and felt a crack. Mielikki pressed harder and felt it give into her persuasion. She scrambled back as the truck fell and slammed into the water. She did it...she could make it to the mud bank.
She hopped up onto the slippery truck side and delicately made her way across. Once her hooves hit somewhat solid ground again, she approached the mysterious object that it held.
