Tempest had crossed the dry and gritty barrens to reach the great tree, the Grandfather Tree. She seriously hoped it was worth it to walk all this way across inhospitable lands. She made sure to take a long cool drink before making the cross, but even so, she felt dry and parched already. As she reached the base of the massive tree, she gazed up at it's branches. Other than it being an imposing size, the bare branches and pale bark of the Grandfather tree were underwhelming to Tempest and it didn’t seem to offer much other than it’s shade. Oh well, here we go, she thought.
"You better be worth it," she stated matter of factly. "I've heard you grant gifts to noulicorns who make the trek out here. Well.... am I worth enough?"
Standing there in the shade of the tree, Tempest felt just a little silly. She knew many before her had made this journey, but here she was by herself talking to a tree that looked a little worse for wear. How did it grant gifts anyway? How long did she have to wait for something to happen? The heat was unbearably warm on her back, her throat grew drier with the minutes and she found herself licking her lips. She just wanted to feel a little bit of moisture, a little bit of a cool breeze. The barrens was not forth coming and neither was this friggin tree.
“Oh come on Grandfather Tree, don’t keep me waiting here. I don’t want to end up a shriveled prune before I leave. That would be most undesirable.” Tempest ended that with a mutter.

Though no breeze passes through, Grandfather Tree's leaves rustle as Tempest approaches.
Choose one of the following prompts for Tempest's dream vision.
Quote:
You have been travelling the barrens for days without sign of food or water. You are on your last legs when you finally spot something green in the distance. Is it a mirage? Or is it real? Do you risk going further to chase the green or do you take the safe route and return home?
Quote:
Newly revived seeds have been planted in Homewood and started to sprout. A powerful Vivify noul has resurrected a new species that eats the new plants almost exclusively. How do you deal with this conundrum?
Quote:
While travelling the Barrens you come across the skull of a massive animal. You don’t have the magic to resurrect it here but dragging it back to Homewood on your own would be exhausting or nearly impossible. What do you do?
Tempest flipped around quickly as the world around her suddenly faded out and was replaced with the resplended green of Homewood. It only took her mere moments to adjust to the alternate reality that surrounded her. She was only mildly suspicious of it but it didn’t last long as she looked down. Tempest was surrounded by hundreds of new shoots of a plant that she didn’t recognize. Well, Tempest didn’t recognize plants very well, she had no interest in them. Some she recognized, mostly trees as they seemed to differ a bit more than the shorter ones. But by looking at the sheer number of new shoots in one spot, she figured some noul discovered a new plant and was trying to get the numbers up for it.
Tempest rolled her eyes as she pranced in place a bit. This was underwhelming and boring. Where’s the excitement? She shook herself out trying to dispel her excess energy and then decided to trot around the plants and then through the plants. Nothing happened at first...then her hoof landed on something soft and it squealed and shot out from under her hoof. It darted through the plants before settling down again. Tempest didn’t think much of it, til she stopped moving long enough to hear a particular sound that would probably upset a botanic noul. Chewing.
The sound came from everywhere, in amongst the plants. Whatever she had stepped on had friends and they where eating all the young plants some noul had worked hard to cultivate. Well that suddenly made her rather angry, boredom was quickly dispelled as she charged through the plants. Her hooves connected with small creature after small creature as she stormed through. She sent them flying and running as she twisted about the plants. One would think that the plants were being trampled in her flying fit of rage, but Tempest was more agile and elegant in her movements the more energy she built up. Her hooves did not touch a single plant as she defended them from the ravenous creatures.
Creatures that Tempest realized she didn’t recognize either! Two new species where vying for life in one space and one was clearing loosing. Her energy petered out and she same to a stand still in the middle, she panted lightly as she thought what she could do. The ground was a bit dry, maybe she could try and water them? Maybe the creatures wouldn’t like water...ugh...why should Tempest care about these plants or creatures? But all things needed water and water sometimes deterred others. She went to a creek and found a hollowed out stump with rope. This was probably used to water the plants. Tempest grabbed it and filled it, she ran back to the sprouts and stood in the middle. Suddenly she spun around, send the water flying all around her. The creatures made sounds of protest and she could hear them run off in all directions.
She wasn’t sure if that would solve the problem in the long run. It was all she could think to do, this wasn’t something she was well versed in.
