In the beginning, December had no idea how in the world he was going to do this.
A long car ride, a strange, new place, someone he knew but didn’t quite know that well with them... The whole thing was pretty intimidating for someone who hardly left his own neighborhood growing up.
Even worse so since the only time he went overseas lead to him losing a chunk of his hear and coming back beaten and broken.
But this, this was all so very different and new!
He felt safe during the ride, the familiar forms of Nataniel and Gabriel nearby as he shifted between sleeping and looking out the window in awe, half tempted to stick his head out much like a dog would. He restrained himself, however. There was no need to so quickly embarrass himself before Gabriel, and he had a feeling Nataniel might scold him if he did.
Not everything was all fun and games though.
Cars were still somewhat new to him. They didn’t have the luxury of having a body to squeeze next to like a motorcycle did. Less distractions meant more carsickness, and by the time he finally rolled out of the car, he was a little more green than he had hoped he be.
But! He still tried to push on, helping with the unloading as best he could, and then finally making it into that fancy lodge that Nataniel’s family owned.
And then it became a little awkward... If only because he wasn’t sure what to say next.
What did people do on vacations anyway? What was expected of him? Was he supposed to stand there, waiting for a command, or maybe start cleaning? Maybe cook?
Honestly, he simply wasn’t sure. So he remained at the door near his single bag, and looked around, offering a nervous smile to both of them.
“I... Uh... I’m glad we made it here in once piece! Are you two feeling alright?”

Gabriel had been honestly very surprised by the invitation from Nataniel to spend Spring Break together. First of all, he was surprised Nat wanted to spend time with him somewhere other than in the dorm or around campus. His roomie wasn't exactly the most social of people. Second of all, December would be there as well. Though, admittedly he never really felt like a third wheel around them.
What really pushed him to agree to the vacation though, was the fact that he needed to get away. He was a bit upset with Xi-Wang. He could say he was just friends with Caleb now, but he still didn't like them living together. The invite to move in had been side lined for now. Honestly, he enjoyed the campus lifestyle and he couldn't really imagine living with his boyfriend and his boyfriend's ex. At the same time, it was hard to imagine not being there to keep an eye on him. He did not like this new feeling of jealously.
He had expressed some discomfort in it, but so far Xi hadn't seemed to be changing his mind. He wasn't sure what more he could do or say about it, so for now he decided to run away from the problem. Skiing sounded fun, hopefully he wouldn't be too bad at it.
He usually enjoyed driving, it was a time for him to be alone with his thoughts. But sadly, he didn't really want that at the moment. Which meant he talked a lot during the ride. About anything that randomly crossed his mind. Except Xi, there was an obvious lack of mentioning his boyfriend.
And then they had finally arrived. He popped the trunk and they all collected their things.
"Were you that worried about my driving skills? I'll have you know I've never even gotten a speeding ticket." He was just joking.
"Feels good to breathe in that cool mountain air. What should we do first? Grab some lunch?"

Leopleuradon So last time I went skiing, I stayed in a cabin like this, and that's roughly what I'm modeling this one after. Nataniel didn't particularly enjoy going anywhere or doing anything. That was the plain and simple truth. If he had an entire week to not be busy with school, that was exactly how he wanted to be: not busy. He wanted to be at home playing games on his computer, listening to music, reading whatever articles of interest happened to pop up. 'Spring Break' shouldn't have to involve leaving the city. So it was just an unfortunate matter of coincidence that being in Destiny City hardly lent itself to doing nothing, anymore.
He'd previously scoffed at and belittled anyone who'd abandoned their Negaverse duties by using Christmas Break as an excuse, but... Well, it was true, wasn't it? There was hardly a break from these things unless you specifically made it a point to get out of Destiny City. So if it came down to the choice of having to go somewhere and being able to do nothing, or not going anywhere but still essentially having to work, well...
Nataniel supposed the want to do nothing was more important than the want to stay at home.
He was still irritated about it, since it felt like if he wanted to take a break, he should be allowed to, but that just wasn't how it worked, was it? He glowered at his phone for most of the ride to the cabin, scrolling idly through app games or news articles and pointedly ignoring texts from nearly everyone. He'd had to tell his mother where he was going, of course, and that had certainly been an... interesting conversation filled with her confusion and curiosity and demands of 'why' and 'who with' that Nat had mostly skirted around noncommittally.
Whatever. It was fine.
He'd grown used to some form of companionship in the forms of Gabriel and December that it would have felt lonesome if he'd come out to the mountains to sit by himself in a cabin for a week (though he had, admittedly, briefly considered the merits of it).
But they were all here now, so Nataniel lugged his bag through the side garage door and plopped it onto the floor. "We likely should have gone grocery shopping in Destiny City," he admitted in a grumble. "Even the supermarkets are more expensive here than at home..." And since they were staying for the better part of a week, making meals in-house would be the more fiscally responsible thing to do.
"I thought we could start with unpacking, then you could take a moment to get acquainted with the place? Downstairs is a game room. Last time I was here, it had a pool table, an arcade game, and a jacuzzi and such. I imagine it is unlikely that it had been upgraded since then. Everyone can have their own bedroom and bathroom, so just pick one out, I suppose."

"N-no! No, not at all! I haven't been in a car for that long ever, so I was afraid of getting really motion sick. I got a little queasy at times, but it was nice! I think chatting with you the whole time made it easier for me to handle it, you know? It was a good distraction!" Vomiting had been considered every now and then, but he made it through! And he was trying really very hard to not do anything that would ruin this trip.
His very first trip for fun! And with two people he cared deeply for!
People he trusted.
Dessy was willing to do anything they asked to keep this mood going!
The very size of the cabin was a dream in itself! So many floors, and bedrooms and... It was a literal mansion!
"Can't I share a room with you?" The idea of his own room, while nice, wasn't exactly what he was used to. "Oh! We could even do that thing where everyone camps out in the biggest room! You know, big sleep overs, and telling stories and having snacks! Doesn't that sound awesome?"

It was a relief to hear that someone didn't mind his rambling. He needed something to distract himself from his last conversation with Xi-Wang. He probably should have been doing more to consider what his boyfriend had said. But honestly, he wanted to forget about it for a little bit A perfect excuse to accept an invite to a remote cabin vacation with another couple. Totally.
Nat had some better ideas for how they should spend their first few hours of this vacation. Seeing what all the cabin had to offer was definitely more appealing than doing the responsible thing and making sure they had everything they needed to stay here for a while. They could always, probably, order food if they really needed to. A nice jacuzzi soak and some gaming sounded very appealing to him. And distracting, perfect.
When Dessy suggested they all share a room he was a little unsure about that though. This was a vacation and all sorts of things happened on vacation. It might be better for just Dessy and Nat to share a room.
"Starting downstairs sounds like a lot of fun. As for the accommodations for tonight, we can work on those later?" He was giving his roommate a chance to just stay with his lover. Though, he wouldn't honestly mind a sleep over kind of situation. It did kind of negate the point of them all coming to a huge cabin in the mountains though.

Nataniel's gaze scraped across the wooden floor, trailing slowly to the threshold of the bedrooms before idly wandering back to December and then to Gabriel. Even if he didn't dislike sharing a room with December, he still did so with the knowledge that he would go to sleep early and December could quietly piddle around on the computer until he was ready to sleep, as well. Nat somehow doubted that would be the case if all three of them were in a room together...
He couldn't help but think Gabriel and December could- and would stay up significantly later than Nat wanted, and he didn't expect they'd be silent about it. Vacation or not, he was still going to bed early. There wasn't any reason to push himself to stay up late when he wasn't accustomed to it.
And likewise, he'd still be waking up early, and he didn't want anyone griping and groaning about how he woke them up in the middle of the morning.
"I think it is more reasonable if we have our own rooms," Nat grumbled. He gave a very slight tug to the end of December's shirt. "You can sleep with me, but leave your stuff in one of the other rooms. I will not be pleased if I trip over any of your stuff when I wake up in the morning." He nudged his own bag toward one of the doorways to the bedrooms, but didn't seem keen on immediately doing more than that. He cast a beckoning hand over his shoulder as he moved for the stairs. "We can check out downstairs for now."

So much for the plans to have a sleep over.
Oh well.
"If it makes you happier to sleep on your own, that's fine! That just means me and Gab can keep having fun when you go to sleep, and neither of us will bother you. I can stay in my own room!" December didn't seem upset in the least about that, and plopped his bag down, the same as Nat did.
Luckily for all of them, he was quick to move onto the another subject, and nodded eagerly to head downstairs.
"Sure, let's go! I'm ready to see everything! And then maybe a snack, once my stomach is all settled!"
