One might assume, with the nature of the work he did, Dousan might be more predisposed to languidly resting until mid-morning or later before emerging to seize the day. Quite the contrary! Even as a foal he had been an early riser, a habit his parents no doubt had hoped he'd grow out of. Early mornings were cool, pleasant, quiet. Even if he wasn't needing to go grazing, the buck made a point to get out and make some rounds of Homewood, maybe skirt into the barrens if the inkling took him to do so. Sunrise never ceased to feel like such a magical time to him. Being able to watch the cool shades of night warm into the brighter hues of day, to listen as the world stirred into waking about him, was always a source of joy for him.

Today was no different. The sun hadn't begun to crest the horizon and he was already strolling softly through Homewood. He had no set destination in mind and was just letting his hooves take him wherever. As the growing light of dawn began seeping in, Dousan passed into a small clearing. Dew clung to the grasses, turning everything faintly silver. Absently sweeping his gaze about him, he paused. Hang on. The further the morning light grew, the more details of this little clearing became apparent. Here and there was sproutings of a plant that he wasn't familiar with. It didn't look quite like anything he had seen before. Dousan circled around one, taking it in. Eight longer leaves, a silvery green that he had nearly missed for the dew blending everything around it, and in the center of these paired leaves was nested a small dark, muted purple flower. Realization crept over him, like the warming dawn that had begun to dry away the collected dew in the clearing, causing him to beam to himself.

This was a new plant, or the return of one long since lost before! Be it the work of a single Botanically gifted ascended or the collected efforts of many noulicorns, something had been returned to Vykeli and the reality of this thoroughly warmed him from the inside out. If they were blooming here, there was a good chance they were popping up in other places around Homewood! Though he hadn't had anything to eat yet, Dousan felt so delighted, so energized by this, the buck felt like he was ready to take on whatever the day had to throw at him!
