The rain poured down like little tear dropplets of crystals making a peaceful curtain fall around the den. Rain always makes things look more green and vibrant. The air has a sweet refreshing smell as the wind gentaly blows, shaking the trees around the Homewood. The tulip trees are budding and starting to show there big blows color. The dogwood tree have already given life to their colors and blooms. And even as Adahy sleeps, he can just make out their sweet sent of a rainy spring in the wind.
The air is cold but not unpleasantly so. The moister in the air makes the cold feel colder then it really is. Adahy wakes before the light like most days but today feels a little different. The world around him feels full of hope, discovery, and possibilities. Opening his eye for the first time this morning, Adahy is pleased with the spring morning around him. Standing and stretching out all the muscles in Adahy's body, their flex and release the tension of a restful nights sleep. Adahy looks over to check on Furry Tail, who is fast asleep in a leaf pile Adahy had made for him the night before. "Cute little guy."Adahy thinks not for the first time but today it seems more cute then normal.
It has been only a week since Adahy had been bestowed with his gift at the Grandfather Tree. He still wasn't sure how it worked or how it would work for him. "Infrared, the ablitiy to see heat waves." The Grandfather tree had told him. "Straigh" Adahy had thought as he left the Grandfather Tree and made the journey back to the Homewood. He still hadn't used his ability yet but he had noticed that things around the Homewood had different glows about them that he had never noticed before. He was still getting used to that.
Walking over to Furry, Adahy nudge his companion softly. " Ya buddy its time to get up and head to the river." FT stirred in his nest and sleeply yond at be woken. "Ok ok I'm up." he replied with his eyes closed. "Come on FT we need to get our day going. Why don't you hop up here ill walk us down." Adahy motioned to his back and Furry Tail jumped right up with no protest. Chuckling at his companion, Adahy headed off to the river.
It was not long into the walk when something different caught Adahy's eye. Off to the left a warm glow of some kind. At first glance Adahy saw a yellow orange coloring glow on the forest floor. "What the...?" he said aloud but FT was fast asleep on Adahy back so he did not respond. Turning toward the light, Adahy made his way over to see what it could be. As he drew near the glow grow brighter and reder, until Adahy was standing right before it.
With out warning the glow dimed and where the glow once was there lay a beautiful plant. A warm comforting since came over Adahy about the flower. At its center was a small purple flower. The leaves where big and oval shaped, which kinda resembled a hen and chick plant but it was different. Adahy had never seen a plant like this before and being a farmer he had seen a lot of plants.
"What is this strange plant?" Adahy wondered as he looked it over. Strange as it was Adahy did not want to touch it just in case it was not safe though he did not get the feeling it was unsafe. "Best to get botany noul over here just. They might know what it is or how to proceed." Looking around Adahy wondered how he was going to find this plant again. Sure he knew his way around the forest but to find the exact same place and tree could be a little more of a challenge. "FT buddy I need you to wake up so I can scratch some marks into the tree so we can find it again." Furry woke up with a pouty lip but hop down which allowed Adahy to rear up and scratch the truck of the tree with his hoofs. Comin back down on all fours, Furry Tail jumped back to his spot on Adahy no invitation needed.
"Ok off you we go. Im sure we will find a noul with the botany gift at the river." Adahy said as he began walking toward the river again. With some hope Adahy would find out what this plant was and if it had any special abilities. After all his agility had lead him to it, so it must be special.
